  1. Don't see anything wrong with my post Screm, I think this has the potential to be a great management/promotion team. As for alcohol, I'm afraid not, just a late night, for reasons better than alcohol
  2. It's going to be the best ever with these guys running the show
  3. And that is one of the most crazy things. Fixtures are quiet in the July month especially. Mental for a sport that is massively weather dependent; riders and fans!
  4. Great news, and what a team to take over the helm! I get the feeling there is going to be a hell of a lot of people out to support the Bandits next year
  5. Usually is, apart from the odd one or two who need to get out a bit more
  6. I think Havvy Jnr is just the man to take Redcar to the next level. What more could any fan want than a former World Champ?
  7. Got a few old photos with you in them from those days
  8. As far as I can recall, everything has been taken down and it has reverted to farmland.
  9. Time will tell, as the saying goes. I'm more concerned about changes that are needed in the sport, and hoping that we see some of them. We'll both not hold our breath!
  10. I think it is genuine. They will want to do a deal that is good for the club.
  11. I agree, they are speedway fans who - fortunately - came in and saved the club (along with others) when it really looked like it was finished. Anyone else remember the last days of Peter Waite era? It really did feel like speedway as dead at Berwick. So, I agree, I don't think they will have the mindset of closing the club. I think they will work out a deal with the club's interest at heart. Fingers crossed.
  12. I'm sure if there was anything new to report a newsletter would have been out by now. Maybe re-assuring that there hasn't been one.
  13. Hope things pull through for you guys. Plenty time yet
  14. Agree, one of those riders everyone would secretly want Great entertainer, great entertainer, and plenty controversial!
  15. Without a doubt, Dennis's skills, dedication, and value are strongly recognised within the world of speedway. I'm quite sure he is considered one of our strongest assets
  16. Yeah, Scott was a real breath of fresh air this season. A lot of the steps forward were his forward thinking.
  17. I think this is one of the best posts I've read on this forum. Absolutely spot on
  18. Yes, I understand that. What I don't know is how much the fence, lighting, etc would cost to install were it no there. That's certainly one thing to take into consideration when costing out. These are the tangible assets. All the other bits on top of that, which are much more difficult to quantify. One thing is for sure, certainly outwith my financial reach!
  19. It must, as it is expenses that would have needed to be incurred to bring it up to the excellent standard it is in. One thing is for sure, it gives it a better chance of working. I agree, the whole of British Speedway needs a shake up.
  20. I don't know any successful investor who has bought a company based on filed accounts alone. I know a few unsuccessful ones who have! The value of intangible assets is something that cannot be easily quantified in accounts (or at least many can't - before any accountants try to correct me!). Any potential investors will look at the success of the club in many areas over the past few years and will - without a doubt - see there is a very strong base to build on. One thing I would surmise from the accounts is that the current promotion have put a heck of a lot of money into Berwick Speedway to make all the improvements, and to keep the club alive. There doesn't appear to be any bank debt either. To the right people it could be a very good business to acquire and take forward. I'm encouraged that there hasn't been any talk of us closing down, and I'm hopeful for next season. That's quite a general statement. There are so many factors involved in buying a business that simple statements like that don't really work. Vendors will have their price - externally, and internally - likewise buyers. However, that is only for the negotiation phase. There's an awful lot more to the process than that. As I've mentioned, intangible assets are a big factor: especially in this case. I'm not alluding to rider contracts or equipment, several other intangibles that will have different values to different people exist. One thing for sure is that it has been left in a good place for fresh people to come in and move it forward.
