  1. I think it is Shadders? Certainly the 3rd bend is.
  2. You certainly can't beat seeing speedway close up, not too close though Make them have to collect it at the 4th bend tea hut.
  3. One thing is for sure, lower pricing doesn't seem to be an influential variable, certainly at Berwick. So I say stick the price up, hoy in a burger, a can of pop, and enjoy the racing. I can see another advantage, it would probably get rid of the whining "supporters". I'd happily subsidise the loss of them through increased entrance fees. Now, that would improve the product no end.
  4. Taffy that is one of your most sweeping generalisations. Last season there were a number of meetings where the entrance was dropped to £10 and it had no effect on attendance (or at least as far as I am aware). Compared to ANYTHING else I go to in my spare time, speedway is by far the cheapest, and best value for money. £20 would still be the cheapest, and if that helps keep it going, then all the better. Flat £20, good concessions, good family deals, keep the kids go free. £20 includes a programme. Do a meal deal, £25 includes programme, burger and juice/water/cup o' tea. So not only do you get your tea, you get a good read while eating, followed by a night of racing. It's a winner.
  5. I think it should be a flat £20 across the board (kids and concession excepted).
  6. It would be foolish of me to argue against Uncle Monty!
  7. Here, if I had any insecurities I'd only post my opinions on here rather than in real life Like I have said, I'm looking forward to next season. I'm excited, and I guess I could post on here the details, but that would just be vulgar.
  8. I do remember what I said, but thanks for consolidating my thoughts! I agree completely with your living wage. I too would like to see a more consistent season without the breaks, league being the consistent bedrock, the rest as "nice to have".
  9. I did indeed say that I would happily pay £20 entry. I also said that that was my budget for the evening, which has since increased due to the considerable increase in trade throughout the upturn. Yes, I would happily pay £20 entry next season. The only reason is that, for me, I would consider that the threshold for value for money. Now, I know other people will have different views on that - and I don't intend to argue against them - I am basing this on other events I attend (sporting and non-sporting) and I consider speedway to be very good value for money. Just my view.
  10. Not what I said, I spent at least £20 per meeting. Is that a bad thing? Should I be trying to spend less?
  11. I've too much integrity to go into detail, other than to say I can't wait until the season gets underway!
  12. Oooft! Now, everyone knows how anti "I know something you don't know" I am, but what I have heard tonight has made me rather excited about next year. Going to be a long winter!
  13. Not quite sure what you mean in this post. Care to elaborate?
  14. If it was organised well in advance, then I think it would be a great season opener. I'd save my pennies over the winter for it
  15. I think the amount of away winds this season show it to be a solid, competitive league. Maybe the reserves getting a regular shot at EL has helped the PL too?
  16. I was backing your case DavyH. Didn't benefit the Capital Monarchs. Didn't stop them winning either!
  17. Or, Somerset gained an advantage of 7pts from their 2 tactical riders, Edinburgh gained an advantage of 6pts.
  18. So the Monarchs have taken yet another well-deserved title. Personally, I really like the PL: when all of the generic speedway problems are put to one side. The variety of teams and tracks, and a good competitive league are plus points, for me. There are plenty other threads for what is wrong, so let's try and get an idea of what is right too!
  19. Decent meeting tonight, comfortable for us with some good manoeuvres around the track with the spectacularity factor. A good turnout for a midweek meeting. Great to see Matty Wethers's nerve and competitiveness are still fully intact after his horror crash! Looking forward to the play offs
