  1. I think most people could name who they were too.
  2. It's really sad - and there are some of us on here that have tried to point this out, but to no avail - that there are some hell-bent on destroying speedway at Berwick. There has been some really poisonous and utterly pathetic attitudes towards the Promotions over the past 15 years at Berwick which have steadily undermined the club. So, I'll stand here and be accused of being a brown noser, but at least I will know that I did all I could to support The Club before its demise. I honestly don't know what some speedway followers want. If the snipers don't want speedway to finish, then they have been exceptionally thick in thinking that their constant negativity is not destructive. Peter had all sorts thrown at him, and it didn't take long until the new ownership started to get the same treatment. Very sad.
  3. Looked very sore one Get well soon Ben!
  4. Ooffftt! How the Tiggers fortunes have turned round, and all the better for speedway. That's a great result at probably the most difficult place to get an away win in British speedway.
  5. Looks like a very good result. Never easy to get an away win, even against struggling teams. TJ once again showing the doubters to have been lacking in knowledge, and the people who had watched him through the previous season to be correct in identifying him as a real young talent. Fantastic signing, and I expect him to go a long way in his speedway career. Despite a hell of a lot of bad luck, we're still ticking along nicely. My God, how I am missing Saturday nights. You'll be chuffed with that, result. ...awaits some negative response along the lines of "against a poor team", or some other spurious attempt to get the knives out...
  6. Hoe Matej Kus doesn't ride like he did for us last year: only for this meeting, of course
  7. I think you are right. The riders have nothing without that clubs, and a lot of clubs are struggling.
  8. http://berwickbandits.co/article/fixtures It's a pretty valid point you make for speedway in general. Looking back at any old videos, the entertainment on track really hasn't changed an awful lot. We just forget most of the older meetings and remember the good ones: thus we think it is not as good as it used to be, when, in fact, it is probably much the same as it used to be.
  9. That's a pretty decent idea, Shads. Cut costs, but still have a quality meeting.
  10. Some nice camera work in there too, especially the early ones
  11. Aye, it wasn't easy to get to, and I think in this day that it would discourage a lot of people from going. It feels like yesterday when I used to go with my Dad on a Sunday with all the different folk building the stadium. Big Jim Louden doing a lot of the joinery work comes to mind. It's great to reminisce: as we would do about Shielfield if speedway were to stop. Time would filter out all the standard racing and we'd all start remembering the great races from over the years. The atmosphere of the 1st and 3rd bends, the burgers, etc. Nice to appreciate it while we have it too.
  12. Thank you, my work is done on the matter. I was surprised how he wrote with authoritative opinion, yet know flip all about the time. Total gob excrement
  13. It also had a training track. It was a very good track for racing. Not quite sure where you get the 60 - 30 home wins from, for a number of reasons...
  14. Too small a track? I wonder how you would have gotten on with Mr Fairbairn
  15. Just out of interest, Taffy, what did you think of the Berrington Lough setup?
  16. I wonder who is out there, I can't think of anyone, but I am the first to admit I'm never up to speed on these matters.
  17. I wouldn't expect anyone to buy my tools of the trade, fans or the person I am contracted to. I pay for that, and any repairs/maintenance, from what I contractually earn. Speedway riders are very adept at becoming "mates" with fans and sponsors, then pleading poverty. Just my view on things. P.S. 2 VIP members picked at random getting a pits tour at Cardiff GP! That is pretty good value for £20!!!! Wish I'd joined now.
  18. Someone please correct me if I am wrong here: my understanding is that the Supporters' Club raise funds and solely distribute to riders and the VIP club is to raise funds and solely support the club. I am a member of neither, so maybe I'm just not understanding it? The club loses money every year, so I don't understand why they would provide a rider with anything more than what they have mutually, contractually agreed. This is where sponsors and fans come into their own in terms of support.
