I thought that the footprint of the new stadium overlaps one end of the present stadium so this would be impossible

Sorry to hear about Johnny Hole, one of my favourite riders at Knowle 1949 to 1960. Captain of the Bristol Bulldogs in 1960, I believe this leaves just Dick Bradley and Chum Taylor from the early 1950s team. RIP Johnny Hole.

Perhaps the music volume is out of respect for neighbours. Glad you enjoyed the meeting. Personally I resisted the urge to attend this one. Have to become more selective these days I'm afraid.

Thanks Hot Shoe. Will look out for that. From memory i can think of Britannia From Billingsgate filmed i believe at Clapton.in the early 30s (a gem) and one at Hackney in the 70s besides Swagman at New Cross in the 40s .Any others?

A few years ago I saw an extract from a speedway related film made in the 1950s at this track. The clue was the two conical roofed mini towers behind one of the bends.

Now that the team has been announced will someone name which riders are also signed for other teams in 2016 and in the event of a fixture clash which team has priority.

Sad news.I saw him being interviewed on TV on a non speedway related subject. I think it was to do with railways but he got in a bit of speedway memorabilia in the background!
-
Does anyone recognise the alleged former riders in photos GGBSS 027 and 028. The man in the light raincoat could be Billy Hole but I don't recognise any others.

Simon and his Dad know the man who runs the tea hut on Beer Beach, BTW I live in Beer every summer and there are quite a few speedway fans living in the village and we all used to go to Exeter on mondays. Happy days!

Speedway Star & Classic Speedway Paper Quality
Knowle replied to Dave Stummings's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Back to the original topic the paper used in Classic No 28 is so thin that the promised answers to the quiz Mystery Men in No 27 has fallen right through otherwise usual excellent contents. -
Will be greatly missed. Had the pleasure of meeting him at Weymouth some years ago and reminded him of programme I had from Fleetwood from 1948 when he was a late replacement for Bristol. He remembered it like it was yesterday and was so easy going and friendly. Also he trained and helped so many novices and others.

Great track to watch speedway. Would be even better if they had put the standing area on the home straight nearer the track.
