Top Fives Somerset 1. Josh Grajczonek 2. Bradley Wilson-Dean 3. Charles Wright 4. Paul Starke 5. Rohan Tungate Glasgow 1. Richard Lawson 2. Fernando Garcia 3. Richie Worrall 4. Rene Bach 5. Aaron Summers Newcastle 1. Robert Lambert 2. Victor Pavolaara 3. Matej Kus 4. Ludvig Lindgren 5. Steve Worrall I think Glasgow and Newcastle have the riders to win the end of season honours. Somerset are good but imo not good enough. Newcastle and Glasgow in a head to head would be difficult to call Fernando & Victor are less capable than their team mates but the other riders are all capable of beating each other. Speedway is unpredictable so at the run in of season 2016 we may be well entertained. I think Glasgow and Newcastle are the pick of the 3 teams and of course as a Diamonds fan I think Newcastle have the best 1-5 riders

I enjoyed the match. The fastest times are often in heat 1 and with Ruthless returning to number 1, will someone tell him he could break the track record if the track is right for it and he just keeps winding it on to the flag. With all due respect to our other great riders Robert at 18 is Englands brightest prospect to follow Tai Woffinden on the world stage. He just needs to polish his riding skills and not pull his "Cut Out" if that is what he did. The last time we had an English rider like Robert was 1978 and the then 17 yr old Kenny Carter who should have won the world championship. The Dynamic Duo Ludde and Matej were great too. The captain is having his best ever season and is briiliant to watch and so is Matej. If there is a better pair at 3 and 4 in the league who are they! Our other Swede Victor has proved to be a good replacement for Tero Aarnio, he's so good he should keep his place for the rest of the season. So who has the best riders at 1 to 5 is it us or Glasgow?

Don't knock local derbies. The sport needs as many through the turnstiles each week as it can attract so Newcastle, Redcar, Berwick, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Workington need home and away matches against each other to bring in the travelling support. Matches against Plymouth Somerset etc do not add much to the coffers do they! I am looking forward to Newcastle v Redcar. The Bears have hit hard times & results this season and we should wish them well. We need a northern powerhouse don't we?

Newcastle 1. Steve Worrall 2. Victor Palovaara 3. Matej Kus 4. Ludvig Lindgren 5. Robert Lambert 6. Lewis Rose 7. Danny Philips Redcar 1. Tobias Busch 2. Lasse Bjerre 3. Hugh Skidmore 4. Jonas B. Andersen 5. David Bellego 6. ? 7. Lee Payne As usual I post the teams and wait for news of any guests, R/R or other changes. Looking forward to seeing Tobias Busch as he is new to the UK. If Redcar line up as above I am puzzled as I would have thought Dane Lasse Bjerre should be anywhere in Redcars team apart from at number 2

dantodan replied to Tsunami's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Sorry to hear that Tsunami you are providing a great service to the current promotion but landlords Wm Hill are in control of the speedways destiny. They say "Jump" and we say "How High!" I am intrigued by the need to trial dog track sheets. I will watch developments on dog track with interest -
Sheffield Tigers (28 from first leg) 1. Simon Stead 2. Dimitri Berge 3. Josh Bates 4. (Jason Garrity) R/R 5. Kyle Howarth 6. Arthur Sissis 7. Nathan Greaves Newcastle Diamonds (62 from 1st leg) 1. Ryan Fisher (Guest for Steve Worrall) 2. Victor Palovaara 3. Matej Kus 4. Ludvig Lindgren 5. Robert Lambert 6. Lewis Rose 7. Danny Phillips Newcastle teams do not usually score freely at Owlerton. The Sheffield track is entirely different to what the diamonds are used to for their home meetings but our 2016 Newcastle side is a different kettle of fish so this will be an interesting meeting. I cannot see Sheffield scoring anywhere near to 63 points to overcome the diamonds lead but stranger things have happened. Some of Sheffield's support may stay away because of the uphill nature of the cuptie but really they are missing seeing a very entertaining Newcastle Team. Come on Ludde and the lads lets win the 2nd leg too

Sheffield Tigers 1. Simon Stead 2. Dimitri Berge 3. Josh Bates ? 4. Kyle Howarth 5. Jason Garrity ? 6. Arthur Sissis 7. Nathan Greaves Newcastle Diamonds 1. Steve Worrall 2. Victor Palovaara 3. Matej Kus 4. Ludvig Lindgren 5. Robert Lambert 6. Lewis Rose 7. Danny Phillips Sheffield's injured pair (Josh and Jason) and Newcastles usual unavailability issues will mean some changes for this 2nd leg match which dare I suggest is all over bar the shouting the Diamonds won the 1st leg 62-28. But the fixture has to be fulfilled. Sheffield may just hit 12 5-1s giving themselves a chance in the last 3 heats wish there was a flying pig emoticon!!

I notice Paul Starke was riding for the rebels tonight when his Elite League team Leicester also in action tonight had Paul down as R/R. Someone whom knows the rules please tell me why he was able to ride in the premier league and not turn out for Leicester as Steve Worrall did for Belle Vue leaving us weakened

Somerset Rebels 1. Josh Grajczonek 2. Bradley Wilson-Dean 3. Charles Wright 4. Paul Starke 5. Rohan Tungate 6. Jake Allen 7. Zach Wajtknect Newcastle Diamonds 1. Steve Worrall 2. Viktor Palovaara 3. Matej Kus 4. Ludvig Lindgren 5. Robert Lambert 6. Lewis Rose 7. Danny Philips If you know of any changes to the line-ups please let us know. Two powerful looking sides. If Ludvig can continue on from his paid 18point max on monday we may give the rebels a fright!

Its a blow to be going into this important fixture without riders we can normally rely upon. If Coty Garcia comes in for Lewis Rose we can expect to lose about 6 or 7 points. No disrespect to Garcia as Lewis is becoming a force to be reckoned with at Brough and would likley score 9 or 10 points (A conservative estimate) from his reserve slot. We wait for news of Robert Lamberts guest replacement but how do you replace a lad who is likely to score 14 or 15 points? Does anyone know anything about Tero Aarnio, have we seen the last of the Finn? I know we signed Viktor to take his place, due to Teros injury but I thought it was a temporary thing. Anyone know if he will come back?

The bad weather has pushed the 2nd leg of the KO Cup back to Monday at 7.30pm. Hopefully this time the match will take place. Newcastle start 10 points adrift from the first leg as the result at Scunthorpe was 50-40 to the Scorpions. I am listing the teams but don't hold your breathe we may be looking at guests/r/r? Newcastle 1. Steve Worrall (New number 1 and with Robert Lambert in the side Steve is doing very well to average more than "Ruthless") 2. Viktor Palovaara 3. Matej Kus 4. Ludvig Lindgren (cap) 5. Robert Lambert 6. Lewis Rose 7. Danny Philips Scunthorpe 1. Ryan Douglas 2. Carl Wilkinson 3. Alex Davies 4. Lewis Kerr 5. Josh Auty 6. Michael Palm Toft 7. Josh Bailey If you know of any team changes to the line ups shown above please let us know. It will be interesting to see Ryan Douglas ride as he is going well. Alex Davies usually does well. The Scorpions have a sting in their tail in Michael Palm Toft. Josh Auty is capable of denting Newcastle Riders maximum hopes and what about ex diamonds Carl and Lewis? I can see Newcastle winning but they have to do it by 11 points or more. I expect a close match with the 10 point deficit being all important. The Diamonds need a good cup run and we should just have too much power at home for the Scorpions. Mondays at 7.30pm were very much the rule for us older fans but now I don't like them I prefer Sundays at 6.30pm Looking forward to this one

Robert was a class act against the Devils. Does he realise how close he gets to the track record when the track is good? If he kept the throttle on when riding so far in front instead of slowing a bit, I think he could break the track record I was greatly impressed by Lewis Rose last night. He was put under pressure in at least 1 heat and kept the gas on to hit the front. He is following his more accomplished team mates in finding an outside as well as an inside line around the bends. Lightning made a great pass on the inside in one heat, unusual as he is best on the outside isn't he? Danny Philips has lost his confidence and he should concentrate on National League racing until he gets going again. It is not a problem dropping down, ask Steve Worrall, he dropped back down and came roaring back. I remember watching Danny in the first few matches he made decent gates and his first two bends were good. I think he has a PL future but maybe not until 2017. The highlight of the night was Robbo falling off when doing a wheelie I remember Robin Dixon. He lived close to me in Winlaton a few yrs ago. I remember hearing him revving up his bikes in his back garden on a few occasions. RIP Robin I have been exchanging emails with Terry Casson if anyone knows him? Terry is sending me a number of photos he took during the 1970s. More work for me Newcastle History Website RD. I am in the process of putting them on the 1970s part two page.

Newcastle had Alec "Farmer Grant 1940s/50s his son Rob Grant snr (rode for Berwick) and we had Rob Grant jnr who was Alec's grandson. What about Neil Street, son in law Phil Crump and Jason Crump there must be loads of other dynasty's. I feel a book coming on! Yeah well we could keep him in the bath!

Here we go again with me starting a thread in the hope Sunday will be a dry day! Newcastle 1. Robert Lambert 2. Victor Palovaara 3. Matej Kus 4. Ludvig Lindgren 5. Steve Worrall 6. Lewis Rose 7. Danny Phillips Hopefully we will not be missing any of our riders and won't be needing guests or R/R Plymouth 1. Brady Kurtz 2. Kyle Newman R/R 3. Sam Simota 4. Todd Kurtz 5. Jack Holder 6. Stefan Nielsen 7. Ellis Perks I hope Kyle Newman is fit to take his place in the team. All Newcastle fans wish Kyle well. Plymouth are tracking an interesting side. I am interested to see how The Kurtz Bros and Jack Holder go. If this one is rained off we will need to take out "Rain off Insurance"

Two dry days in a row with warm sunshine but this is only Thursday. Hope it lasts till Sunday. The weather jinx has struck again on Thursday with our match at Ipswich falling victim to the heavy rain down south. Both teams have had lots of bad luck with rain offs etc. I hope the promoters can get by with no income via the turnstiles

I blame the EU for all this bad weather so if you are sick of rain-offs vote Leave. Polling Stations are open today -

Well done British Champ Danny King! Lets hope the weather is kinder than it has been for both teams. Newcastle have raced 4 away fixtures in a row without a home meeting a typical British summer eh? Ipswich 1. Danny King 2. James Sarjeant 3. Nico Covatti 4. Morten Risager 5. Ben Barker 6. Paco Castagna 7. Danyon Hume Newcastle 1. Robert Lambert 2. Viktor Palavaara riding in Sweden so R/R 3. Matej Kus 4. Ludvig Lindgren riding in Sweden so Guest Stuart Robson 5. Steve Worrall 6. Lewis Rose 7. Danny Phillips 8. Connor Mountain Guest from Mildenhall It is of interest to Diamonds fans that Connor is named at number 8 I expect the promoters are checking him out as a possible replacement for Danny Phillips whom is having diffilculties picking up points in the Premier League -
We are being starved of our speedway at Brough, what with rain offs or unavailability of the stadium so it will be a great relief to have a dry Sunday (Fingers Crossed!). This fixture will be a double header hence the 5pm start time The 2nd leg KO CUP meeting is the first match with a PL match following it. Hopefully the Diamonds can call on all of their riders for the double header. The 2nd match Premier League in the double header is important for the diamonds we need a good win to claw our way up the league table Newcastle 1. Robert Lambert 2. Victor Palovaara 3. Matej Kus 4. Ludvig Lindgren 5. Steve Worrall 6. Lewis Rose 7. Danny Phillips Scunthorpe 1. Josh Auty 2. Lewis Kerr 3. Michael Palm Toft 4. Alex Davies 5. Ryan Douglas 6. Carl Wilkinson 7. Josh Bailey As usual we have to await news on any guests or R/R. The Scorpions have two of my favourite riders both ex diamonds Lewi Kerr and Carl Wilkinson. The first leg of the KO Cup match held at Scunthorpe saw the Scorpions take the match 50-40 so we start 10points behind. Now if our lads can remember how to ride our track after all the call offs ( ) I can see us winning the aggregate tie quite comfortably Personally I no longer like double headers as I am getting on a bit (Yep it comes to us all) and I have aches and pains from standing around for 15 hts never mind 30 ( ) but I will be there hopefully applauding 2 match wins for the diamonds after 30 heats
