Good signing Alfie, learn Brough Park's tricky track and you will go away a much better rider. Does anyone know how bad Ben Hopwood's foot injury is ?
-
I believe Alfie is contracted to Rye House and on loan to Lakeside. he has been getting among the points In the NL

Newcastle V Glasgow Championship 18 June 2017
dantodan replied to jackofdiamonds's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I watched Ludde last night and expected him to do his trademark blasts around the outside but he was riding close to the white line when his aggressive outside riding would have gained him a point or two i think and the team would have grabbed a narrow win. So what is wrong with him of late, are his best bikes saved for European meetings? or is he traveling too much or like most riders do, has he just gone off the boil temporarily? Well done Robert Lambert whose overtakes were the highlight of the match. The guy would be brilliant if he could only make the gate most rides but then the entertainment would suffer as we are privileged to watch "Ruthless" turning it on around the second turn. Steve should have sent his son up to entertain us on the mic ! George English aided by a few others has kept speedway going at Brough Park longer than any other promoter we have had, so I hesitate to criticise him at all. He does say he would let someone else take over as team manager so he can concentrate on other matters. I think it would be a good step to take if someone wanted the team manager job. My vote would go to Roy Clarke if he threw his name into the pot. George could then concentrate on Newcastle Speedway LTD. -
Newcastle V Glasgow Championship 18 June 2017

I will turn up for this match hoping for two or more of our riders to step up and be counted. Robert will go out and do his job I am sure of that, but Lewis, Ludde and Ashley need to ride like Grand Prix stars. It will be difficult to avoid defeat with Steve being a sick note provider. What a massive blow that he is injured get well soon mate. If our lads can make the gate, as being behind at the tapes and hoping for passing on the 2nd bend we will sink without trace against a quality side like Glasgow. If we can gate we can win, if we miss the starts we will lose. So come on you Diamonds, tame the tigers -
The Diamonds Line up: - 1. Steve Worrall 2. Ashley Morris 3. Lewis Rose 4. Ludvig Lindgren 5. Robert Lambert 6. Ben Hopwood 7. Connor Coles I could hazard a guess at The Bears but will leave it to a Redcar supporter to supply their 1-7 Lewis and Ludde have had good meetings at Redcar so I hope they will be useful back ups to Steve and Robert. If they (Lewis & Ludde) can get amongst the points then the match should be a good one

Does anyone remember Bob Andrews notably Cradley Heath. He was a very good rider qualifying for world finals etc. Bob and I exchange emails and he helps me with info my websites, he has lived in NZ for some years now. Well his grandson Bradley Andrews is over here riding in the NL. After a slow start Bradley is now scoring well. My tip is Bradley who could turn out to be a chip off the old block. Too late now as we just signed Hopwood ! God that was quick

Good luck Danny. Fingers crossed for you

British U21 Final Poole 26/4/17
dantodan replied to sommelier's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Robert has just turned 19 and already he is odds on favourite in meetings like this. He can ride rough tracks and technical tracks, he rides Brough Park very well. I just hope his gating improves when he graduates properly to the world stage. Young British riders are coming good together so the world cup event may be worth watching this year. It seems the National League is doing the business of bringing on talent. Long may the National League continue just as it is -
Newcastle is staging the British semi final on Sunday 30th April at 6.30. The Diamonds official website says: - The current British Champion Danny King commences the defence of the crown he won at Belle Vue last season against a cracking line-up that show how tough it will be to get in to the top eight and qualify for this year's final. There are four home riders in the field, Robert Lambert and Stevie Worrall who both made the final last season as well as Lewis Rose who just missed out on a place in last season's final plus Ashley Morris. Try picking a top eight from this line-up in rider number order. 1. Jason Garrity - Redcar 2. Joe Jacobs - Unattached 3. Rory Schlein - Ipswich 4. Ashley Morris - Newcastle 5. James Sarjeant - Ipswich 6. Robert Lambert - Newcastle 7. Steve Worrall - Newcastle 8. Danny King - Ipswich 9. Richard Lawson - Glasgow 10. Ben Barker - Redcar 11. Lewis Rose - Newcastle 12. Kyle Newman - Ipswich 13. Richie Worrall - Glasgow 14. Steve Boxall - Plymouth 15. Liam Carr - Berwick 16. Paul Starke - Peterborough Normal admission prices apply for this meeting although season tickets are not eligible. Lets pray for decent weather and a big crowd to support these British stars. Tapes-Up at the normal time of 6:30pm. Come along and support your rider(s) Newcastle's heatleaders Robert Lambert and Steve Worrall are favourites for winning the meeting but all riders only have to finish in the top eight to qualify for the final won last year by Danny King whom is in the Brough Park field. Ex Newcastle Riders: Richie Worrall, Danny King, Steve Boxall, Kyle Newman and Paul Starke will put their Brough Park knowledge to good advantage and all 4 are likely to get into the top eight. Newcastle also have Lewis Rose and Ashley Morris in the field, realistically they are hoping for a top eight finish but will have to ride well to acheive their ambitions. Lewis is capable of spoiling the chances of the front runners. For what it is worth my top eight in no particular order are:- Robert Lambert Steve Worrall Richie Worrall Danny King Jason Garrity Richard Lawson Ben Barker Rory Schlein I hope Lewis Rose can make the top eight if any of my top eight fall by the wayside. The north needs more meetings like this one and will only get them if we support in numbers so cancel your plans and head for Brough Park this sunday

Redcar 1. Jason Garrity 2. Fernando Garcia 3. Charles Wright 4. Jonas B Andersen 5. Ben Barker 6. Richard Hall 7. Ellis Perks Newcastle 1. Robert Lambert 2. Ashley Morris 3. Lewis Rose 4. Ludvig Lindgren 5. Steve Worrall 6. Connor Coles 7. Danny Phillips If both teams are as per the above then the match could be a classic. The Bears are a lot stronger than in recent seasons and heat 13 should be an epic heat contested by 4 Englishmen on the way up in their careers. As usual the Diamonds reserves will be up against it with Richard Hall and Ellis Perks looking so much stronger than Danny and Connor. I think a full strength Redcar will come through as winners but you never know with Newcastle. I would settle for a point by keeping the scores close.

Being a very patient supporter. I wish Danny Phillips well. When he is racing full throttle he looks good but when he shuts off he wobbles. He should talk to his captain Ludde as he is a master at throttle control. Newcastle are doing well so far despite a suspect tail but they all need to practise starting. Ruthless would be unbeatable if he could make the gate every time

Newcastle 1. Robert Lambert 2. Ashley Morris 3. Lewis Rose 4. Ludde Lindgren c 5. Steve Worrall 6. Connor Coles 7. Danny Phillips Sheffield 1. Josh Grajczonek 2. Josh Bates R/R ? 3. Lasse Bjerre 4. Todd Kurtz 5. Kyle Howarth 6. ? 7. Jack Parkinson-Blackburn Sheffield come with a 1 3 and 5 as good as any in the league, throw in Todd Kurtz and Josh Bates and you have a side that will challenge for the trophies this year. The diamonds will need to fight to win this match. Sheffield are a bit hampered with R/R for Josh Bates and whomever takes to the track with the Number 6 jacket. On Thursday they had a guest in Mark Riss at number 6 and he notched up 14 + 1 from 7 rides

No-one has congratulated Danny Phillips on a much improved effort. He looked good when he was taking a fistful of throttle not so good tootling along at the back but take heart Dan. I hope he will have received a boost of confidence by a couple of good rides. Connor needs time to learn our technical track. I am sure he will benefit from his dad and grandad in his corner. When he learns the track he will start to show his potential but having said this about our reserves they must appreciate that if someone comes along and promises to be better and fits the team average wise, one or both of them will have to go as we cannot operate all season with low scoring reserves. Congrats to Robert on his 4 ride maximum he was awesome. Will someone tell Robert our track record is there for him to take, if he wants it. He just needs to go flat out for all four laps when he is out in front by a country mile instead of slowing a bit with the race won, as he does now. Our pairing at 3 and 4 Lewis and Ludde were involved in some great racing and like Robert were both unbeaten from 4 rides and a tough heat 15 did them no favours but good call from George to put them into heat 15 when Steve and Robert are the obvious choice for the nominated final race. -

Ludde needs to make the gate its as simple as that. He is a great throttle control rider aqround Brough but on the bigger tracks he struggles a bit -

The away trip to Glasgow highlighted a couple of things.. We only have 2 heatleaders (Steve & Robert) who are reliable. The Ludvig/ Rose pairing is a bit weak..hoping Lewis kicks his horse into action soon but Ludde so very good at home struggles at some away tracks. I think we will beat Berwick easily but away from home who is going to back up our 2 heatleaders steve and robert, answers on a post card please! I take every league match as a championship winning step, so come on you diamonds especially Ashley, Lewis, Danny and Connor and get ya finger out Ludde or sort out your bikes as we need a few more points away from home to win the matches instead of being entertaining to the home sides fans and suffering defeats by just a few points -

Speedway isn't worth the admission if the track is slick and there is no passing so hopefully every promotion will prepare their tracks to put on entertaining racing instead of suiting the home rider with the biggest gob! -
Glasgow V Newcastle Championship 8th April 2017
dantodan replied to dantodan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Newcastle Riders: Robert Lambert and Lewis Rose both had outings for their parent club Kings Lynn on Wednesday the 5th April 2017 Lewis Rose scored - 2',3,2,2' = 9+2 almost a PL paid maximum! and Robert Lambert- 3,R,3,2,2 = 10 Newcastle have great hopes for Lewis this season and he has started well. Robert is going very well and will be very much an entertainer at Glasgow I am sure. The Diamonds also expect our Worrall twin Steve to do well in this match. Ludvig Lindgren will get amonst the action and Ashley Morris will chip in a few points. Newcastle are hoping as the fixtures go by that our reserves Danny Phillips and Connor Coles will click the more they ride. I am being realistic in saying Glasgow may just have too much fire power for the diamonds but who knows? Going for a Glasgow win but not by very much -
Glasgow 1. Aaron Summers 2. Dan Bewley 3. Richie Worrall 4. Nike Lunna 5. Richard Lawson 6. Tom Perry 7. Jack Smith Newcastle 1. Robert Lambert 2. Ashley Morris 3. Lewis Rose 4. Ludde Lindgren c 5. Steve Worrall 6. Connor Coles 7. Danny Phillips The teams are looking for Championship League points. Now as a Newcastle fan I hope we win the match and take the league points but realistically I can see this as a Glasgow win. The Newcastle team need solid scoring from Lewis Rose and Ashley Morris to back up the efforts made by Ludde, Steve and Robert as our reserve pairing will struggle I feel. As always I hope the Diamonds will be entertaining despite my view that Glasgow will win so go on and prove me wrong Newcastle and bring the points home.
-
Yes I agree, but is not a surprise. Our 2017 team was built to keep the 1-5 from late last year, which meant 2 x 2point reserves. Fingers crossed we will not have to go with rider replacement featuring our reserves until the lads improve with experience. Speaking bluntly Danny Phillips needs to become a better rider quickly otherwise he should be replaced. Connor is going ok and I think he will make the grade but will he be able to get the points from reserve that the team needs in 2017
-
It is a bit too early in the season for a meaningful encounter like the ko cup. I would have been happier if this was a challenge match but I suppose it is the same for both teams. The diamonds have a good top 5 to carry the weak reserve pairing for a while. Hopefully we will just need to give the reserves their programmed rides so please no rider replacements until Danny and Connor start proving themselves or needs dictate a personnel change. Workington's team deserve respect and in local rider Craig Cook look like getting at least 3 points in heats 13 and 15 possibly more if Robert and Steve are caught napping at the starts. I hope the diamonds entertain the comets fans. I hope the score will be kept close for an interesting 2nd leg at Brough

Here we go into season 2017. Great news that both Newcastle and Berwick are still operating and are contesting the annual trophy meetings again. Newcastle Robert Lambert 8.70 Ashley Morris 4.98 Ludvig Lindgren 7.69 Lewis Rose 5.97 Steve Worrall 8.47 Danny Phillips 2.00 Connor Coles 2.00 Berwick Lewis Bridger Kevin Doolan Dimitri Berge Claus Vissing Liam Carr Danny Gappmaier Ryan Blacklock I have guessed Newcastle's riding order but not Berwicks as that should come from the Bandits people I think!
