I often get questions from visitors to my www.defunctspeedway.co.uk website like thye following: - Would you know the names of any speedway drivers killed at Stamford Bridge? My grandmother never revealed the name of my mother's father. When pressed all she would say is that he was a speedway rider who had killed in a crash at Stamford Bridge. I have no way of knowing if the story was try, but given the limited period racing took place there, it is a possibility. So can you help?

Newcastle's season came to an end against Plymouth. March 2012 seems a long way off but who do you want from 2011 riders next year? I would say Stuart Robson (has to be first choice) Mark Lemon (not many seasons left but he has what it takes in 2012) Rene Bach (Potentially No1 in 2012) Kyle Newman (Great prospect) Richie Worral (Great prospect) Claes Nedermark ( I would only bring Claes back if he could ride at no2 in our team he is not yet a heat leader and struggled at No5 in 2011) A N OtherSo many possibles to make up 7 riders

So of the tracks that started in 1928/29 who has had the most seasons without changing venues. Newcastles longest periods without speedway were 1931-1937 and 1952- 1960. Does anyone fancy doing a spreadsheet showing each teams claim to fame. I am getting too old to do things like spreadsheets but I know a spreadsheet would show the situation off very well. In a conversation the question came up "Which current track has been going the longest". Not unbroken, no track can claim that. I said Newcastle who started at Brough Park in 1929 and off an on (more on than off!) are still operating 2011. Can any current track equal or beat Newcastles claim to fame

Starting this thread with the news that Newcastle's Mark Lemon will be missing due to complications with his shoulder injury. Newcastle have been missing Marks scoring for most of the season. We need a good guest for him. A rider who can cope with the no1 or no5 slot is required. Our injury hit side has been able to get within a few points of winning perhaps we can give Scunthorpe a fright? The remaining riders we have are pretty good but we need a front man from the guests available otherwise the points will go to the homeside

Hi Sarah Claes is very welcome to his place in the Diamonds team. He will be aware that Newcastle is one place that Danes do well to start at, lets hope he can teach the rest of our team (mark apart) to gate

Newcastle with injury brought in Lubos Tomicek who didn't cut any ice. So lubos is out and Claes Nedermark is in. Anyone know anything about him

So Newcastle has gone into the transfer market and brought back the top Hungarian Matej Ferjan. We are in the dark about his ability in 2011. Please supply any info you have on the guy

The defunct speedway website continues to chronicle the history of speedway. It needs photos and memories from supporters to grow so if you have pictures old programmes, badges etc from tracks that are currently defunct please visit the site and pick up my email adress. I sometimes receive emails with images of maps showing old tracks that are sadly no longer used for speedway. The few images that I have received so far are from different map aerial shot applications such as Google Maps and www.old-maps.co.uk/maps.html I would like some help. If you are interested perhaps you could visit the web and see if you can come up with any map/aerial images of any defunct stadiums. Perhaps you have found a great site for these images? Most of us would say Newcastle Diamonds were black and white. However, 1938/39 and 1946/51 the racejacket was red and white with the exception of 1949 when it was a black and white N. Does anyone have any colour photos showing the red n white jacket that I could show on the website. I do have colour pics of Norman Evans and Ken le Breton wearing the red and white but they are very poor quality. Please help me with this if you have colour photos from the B&W era
