  1. I am amazed that Newcastle have not put anything out on their website about the fixture chaos. The only meetings of the remaining few I want to see are the KO Cup matches against Glasgow and I would have thought these matches should be publicised as much as possible to bring in a bit more support and as much cash as possible before the sorry 2017 season ends
  2. So is there a glimmer of hope for Newcastle if Robert is unfit for his match in Poland? Josh Embleton = 0points Rider Replacement = 8 or 9 points approx Could be the difference between winning or losing
  3. Speedway needs to attract crowds to survive and the rule makers should bear this in mind. The ruling out of a guest or R/R means a NL rider or Josh Embleton will be the Newcastle number 1 for Sundays meeting. It's no joke, this is for real! I will be there as usual, got a season ticket and I am keen enough to attend a meeting we are likely to lose because of the rules anyway. Hardly an attractive meeting now is it? I am worried that the part time fans will stay away because of this farce and the promoter's will lose some admission money. So come on Josh wear the no1 jacket maybe you will get a point if one of the other riders fall or have bike problems. A great experience for you, enjoy it with no pressure on you at all but lets hope the rules are changed to allow R/R at least next year.
  4. This season has been a strange one with 2 league meetings against the same teams and so many blank Sundays. There must be a few fans losing interest at watching the same teams two weeks running and we really need a fixture every week especially for season ticket holders which I am one, we have paid for the whole season in advance! Then what about the one competition we are still in: The Knock Out Cup Still no sign of it in the fixtures, maybe we should just forget it eh :-) So hello again to Redcar, great match last week (er I mean 2 weeks ago. We didn't have a match last week did we!) Newcastle 1. Robert Lambert 2. Ashley Morris 3. Stuart Robson 4. Ludvig Lindgren 5. Steve Worrall 6. Ben Hopwood 7. Alfie Bowtell Redcar 1. Ben Barker 2. Ellis Perks 3. Jason Garrity 4. Jonas B. Andersen 5. Charles Wright 6. Tobias Busch 7. Danny Ayres Redcar gave us a great match 2 weeks ago and it will be the same this time. Charles Wright is flying right now which is bad news for the diamonds. I always find the "suicide squad" messrs Barker and Garrity entertaining. Hopefully the teams will be the full line ups as shown above. If you know of any changes post away
  5. Do you have a programme where the scorechart shows 13 or 15 heats won by the maximum margin 5-1. If so please scan it and email it to me for my http://www.defunctspeedway.co.uk website. I am looking for a "proper match" where both teams contested each heat. You can contact me via the website
  6. At Newcastle on Sunday, I noticed a rider (Scunthorpe and possibly the Kerminator) mount the grass and knock over a member of Newcastle's track staff. It looked like an accident which I am sure it will turn out to be. Did something similar happen at Scunthorpe this arternoon?
  7. You should read my Ivan Mauger pages on my websites, If you have a few hours to spend! I think they are very interesting and I expect you will think so too: - http://www.defunctspeedway.co.uk http://www.newcastlespeedwayhistory.co.uk Anyone old enough to watch Ivan ride couldn't help but be impressed. Why? because he was "Simply The Best" to coin a phrase..
  8. Newcastle's Brough Park imo does not have a "terrible record" as you say above. Brough Park has been going much longer than most tracks did, we started in 1929 and we have had 4 fatalities. The fatalities were Bill Nichol, Charlie Appleby, Chris Prime and Wayne Garratt. Sorry to disagree with you on this sensitive issue.. Brough Park is tricky to master but not inherently dangerous
  9. Hi Salty, I have amended the A-Z Cradley entry to Cradley Heath Dudley Wood Hi Sommelier, yes please scan the prog and email it to me, my email address is on the website
  10. Thank you guys, the website thrives when browsers dig out the "business" and send me pics etc to add to the website. If "you" have enjoyable browsing, well so do I, the site is big enough to wander about. Just lately added pages for Newton Heath and Melton Mowbray. It is amazing how many venues started and closed in the same year. As a Newcastle fan I pray I will never have to create a Newcastle page in my Defunct A-Z but who knows when a track will fold
  11. Most of you will be aware of the Defunct Speedway website which is now 12 years old. My website is non profit making, I do it because I am a fan of speedway I am constantly adding items to the website which contains an A-Z of most defunct tracks. If you have any photos or memories of our defunct speedways perhaps you can send them to me for inclusion on the website. Or maybe you have interesting items not from a defunct track. If you have anything at all please get in touch. If your items are good I can add them to the websites Miscellaneous pages.
  12. Hi I run the Defunct Speedway website. I am aware of quite a few tracks which I have not included so far. I decided way back when I started the website, to only include tracks that I have photos, programme scans or information text for. The main reason for my decision was to hopefully produce an interesting website rather than do a list of all tracks with no info for a lot of them. I have yesterday added a page for Newton Heath Speedway as I received some images and info for that venue. If anyone has any images of Melton Mowbray or can provide me with a few paragraphs of text, I would create a page, no problem with that. I enjoy adding pages to my website, So I await some info/pics etc to start the page. my email address is all over the website if you want to get in touch it is easy.
  13. Our hope that the brown road signs may just have brought a fair few locals back to paying for the speedway
  14. Hi Dandelion Your topic about free admission refers: - I was running the Diamond Geezers about 12 years ago. We formed as a Newcastle Speedway help group as Newcastle did not have a supporters club at that time. We did loads of work to help the cause. I personally spent a lot of my own money and countless hours of my time ringing/emailing and meeting people. We raised the money for the Brown Rd signs which you may have seen? The Diamond Geezers did not get and we were not offered free admission. It would have been great to have been offered free admission even though I would have declined it personally. I have no problem with the workers getting in for free but why a friend too! Maybe the promoters can afford it but any sniff of closure the friend should be asked to pay to help the team keep going
  15. I agree Steve a racing incident leading to a fallen rider is a matter for the referee but what happened to ludde who was skilfull enough not to fall should have been called by the referee, next time Ludde fall off mate!!
  16. Yes it probably would but KL should be helping Robert and so should BV be helping Steve Worrall. The lads are here, there and everywhere riding for the Toon, KL and BV and also for England. The amount of traveling they do would tire the fittest of us but they are doing it with knocks and bruises and managing to ride speedway as well. They most probably love it but someone needs to slow them down a bit and make them take a bit of a rest.
  17. Well this match did not provide us with exciting racing but with the Monarchs holding us close the last couple of heats became exciting. Heat 14 Ludde won it with Hoppy third. These guys won the match for Newcastle as it was unimportant what would happen in heat 15. We won the match and Monarchs picked up a point. Hopefully Sam Masters, Robert Lambert and Steve Worrall will be ok after their falls. The diamonds pair Robert and Steve were riding in Poland on saturday so perhaps they were tired, well I would have been!!
  18. The good news for Newcastle is number 1 Robert Lambert, despite some discomfort from his hand injury in Poland, has declared himself fit enough for this fixture. So the diamonds are at full strength, so head off to Owlerton Dandelion, the lads need your support. Ace in the diamonds suit is our old friend Stuart Robson, he could make a difference to the visitors chances.
  19. Sheffield 1. Josh Grajczonek 2. Todd Kurtz 3. ? 4. Kyle Howarth R/R 5. Lasse Bjerre 6. Jan Graversen 7. Georgie Wood Sheffield have been ringing the changes lately. As a Newcastle fan I do not know who will be riding for the Tigers so please supply the Sheffield team if you know the line up Newcastle 1. Robert Lambert 2. Ashley Morris 3. Stuart Robson 4. Ludvig Lindgren 5. Steve Worrall 6. Ben Hopwood 7. Alfie Bowtell Newcastle's record at Sheffield was very poor but these lads will be out to change all that.
  20. I notice Robert Lambert was taking part in an under 21 final round in Poznan Poland and was injured. Robert’s 9 points total was done with wins in his first three rides. His 1st round championship efforts were disrupted by a crash with Polish rider Kacper Woryna."Ruthless Robert" finished with a respectable 9 points but how bad is his injury?
  21. Well Dave you have misunderstood my comment "Where have we heard that before" I wasn't having a go I was just referring to Lewis having the same injury as last year and us needing to sign someone for remainder of season 2016 a carbon copy of last year so please don't have a go at me for something I am not guilty of
  22. Rider replacement for Lewis means extra rides for Ludvig and Ashley, with Ben and Alfie taking the other rides, so without Lewis we are weakened in 3 of his rides. George has said he will be looking for a replacement for Lewis for the rest of the season. Now where have we heard that before? Best of luck George and sympathy for Lewis who was having a good season
  23. Newcastle 1. Robert Lambert 2. Ashley Morris 3. Lewis Rose 4. Ludvig Lindgren 5. Steve Worrall 6. Ben Hopwood 7. Alfie Bowtell Ipswich 1. Daniel King 2. Kyle Newman 3. Cameron Heeps 4. Justin Sedgmen 5. Rory Schlein 6.? 7. Connor Mountain Ipswich are a good side but Newcastle are very good at home so I forecast a Newcastle win by 10 points
