  1. Incorrect! you will never be right with this we were beaten fair and square we are not the league champions but weren't we good all season long
  2. Ah wel!l you and I don't appear to have much in common to discuss. I will leave you to discuss your point of view with the other forum members. I have really enjoyed season 2012 and look forward to being on my part of the terraces again in March
  3. I wonder how you would feel if we had finished 7th for example our goose would have been cooked and we wouldn't have had the extra matches. Personally I just want to keep watching the team when you would rather the season had ended. So we are all entitled to our own opinions. Newcastle's season was extended by the play-offs and the cup so we all watched top class entertainment when teams outside the top six had closed down. If you had your way Newcastle would have closed also as league champions and we would have been at a loose end on the last few sundays apart from the cup. I understand the feelings of "winning the league" but not the play offs, but to repeat I agree with the play-offs just a pity we were not able to win them. Rant on as much as you like Newcastle topped the league table but lost out in the play-offs. We could have won that too but on the day Somerset exposed our slight weakness and we got beat. The league champs should not have been beaten by Somerset should they? We were very good but so were the other top five teams. Keep the play-offs but give some cash or a trophy to the team finishing top
  4. I am a supporter of the plays offs. It gives 6 teams some meaningful matches at the end of the season. If we had finished 2nd or 3rd in the table we would have had the chance of winning the play offs. Maybe the team that finishes top should get some cash and trophy? Next year we might finish 6th and win the play offs I would be happy if we did that. Anyway we topped the league and won the KO Cup. Successful season, well done George, Darryl and all. You picked the right riders and we were just victims of injuries to the twins, with them in the second half of the season we would have won everything on offer. I thought Lemo was great at the presentations he behaved like a professional captain. Paul Starke too was worthy of his trophy. Stuart and Mark have had their ups and downs this year. Mark had a bad knee and mechanical problems season long. I dunno what his plans are for next year maybe he will bow out on this high? Stuart should surely be invited back next year but please not as our number 1. I think he is great to watch but he needs to be down the order at Number 3 maybe Ludvig is terrific at Brough. I am a fan of his round the outside blasts. Definitely want him back in 2013. Maybe he will do the same away from home then. Christian had a great season, maybe like the rest he notched up an odd last place but then bounced back with a win home or away. get him to sign on again George Claes was my least favourite rider back in March. BUT he finished the season on fire, bring him back George Richie is such a talent that we may not be able to hang onto him. Come on evil twin sign up for 2013 Steve was just showing that he can be as good as his twin, come back in 2013 It will be very interesting as the winter goes on to see which of this great team sign on again
  5. So now that we have all the riders managers in both camps should know how to play the game. Matty is there at reserve to use if anyone in the diamonds 1 to 5 is under-performing. He is well capable of scoring in any heat and yes I think he will be our trump card. We might need to concede heats 13 and 15 to the witches but by then I hope we will have kept the scores tight. I think our top two Robbo and Lemo will come good, they will respond to the motivation and turn back the years. With good returns from our top two the rest only need to score at least their averages as I suspect Matty to be on fire at reserve. Ah well maybe we will get hammered at Ipswich and struggle at home. Who knows, I just hope the second leg doesn't fizzle out as a contest either way Good luck to all 14 riders, no falls please, just great racing
  6. Newcastle have been running most home teams close all season which is why we finished top of the league. I think a 10-15 point lead is what you will have on saturday, hope its a good match for your fans
  7. Thanks Abbott as usual you check the fixtures and I just assume things, so if Starkey is elswhere maybe now that fixtures are running out we will be able to chose between the available NL riders. Will Matty be ok for both matches?
  8. See Bamber it's Matty, er? thats wot I told you I really hope he can do the job against the Witches. So who in the ipswich side do we want to look out for? I know how well Dak North can ride, he will want to impress against his old club. Suggested line ups: Ipswich Newcastle 1. Leigh Lanham 1. Stuart Robson 2. Morten Risager 2. Claes Nedermark 3. Taylor Poole 3. Mark Lemon 4. Dak North 4. Christian Henry 5. Rohan Tungate 5. Ludvig Lindgren 6. Mat Tresarrieu 6. Paul Starke 7. Unknown? 7. Matty Wethers Newcastle sometimes have a problem competing with the other teams top two in heats 13 and 15 our strength lies with our second strings Claes,Christian and Ludvig Robbo usually does ok at number 1 and Lemo can in some rides be outstanding but our top two can struggle for no obvious reason. They hold the key to us winning on aggregate. I expect both of them to rise to the occasion of a KO Cup final. If I am right in naming Starke and Wethers as our guests for the Worral twins then I expect Matty to get amongst the points. Paul should pick up the odd point in possible 4-2's or 3-3's which is great if he can continue to do it. He has been used many times in Steve Worrals position and has never let us down even if he isn't anywhere near the Twins standard. If the diamonds have their gating gloves on I think we will keep it close at Ipswich and run out aggregate winners at home. If not then it will be "Well done Ipswich" I hope both matches are very entertaining with lots of overtaking as long as the diamonds are doing it! Ipswich look a good side but so do the Diamonds. I invite a Witches fan to preview the match from their point of view Oh yeah! lets hope the weather is good for both matches
  9. Nowt wrong with Matty. No point in me guessing as well, I will leave that to you. I prefer to wait and see whom the guest is, boring I know, but maybe your post has misled a few who think you have inside knowledge and that Matty is the actual guest. When suggesting names, maybe you could add that it is just your guess.
  10. I could have written this myself dontforgetthefueltapsbruv. The diamonds have been top of the PL all year and lost out in the play-offs to teams that weren't top of the league. No silverware for us unless we do Ipswich on aggregate. Our side should be super-motivated because of topping the league and any Newcastle rider who returns under-par scores should be shown the door for 2013. Come on Diamonds do it for the fans
  11. I have copied this from the Ipswich website: - Now confirmed that Ipswich will meet Newcastle in the Knock Out Cup Final; home leg at Foxhall on Saturday 27th October and away leg at Brough Park on Sunday 28th October
  12. I have copied the item below from the Ipswich website: - Now confirmed that Ipswich will meet Newcastle in the Knock Out Cup Final; home leg at Foxhall on Saturday 27th October and away leg at Brough Park on Sunday 28th October
  13. Now confirmed that Ipswich will meet Newcastle in the Knock Out Cup Final; home leg at Foxhall on Saturday 27th October and away leg at Brough Park on Sunday 28th October I will start the two threads
  14. So Newcastle' side will be: - Stuart Robson Claes Nedermark Mark Lemon Christian Henry Ludvig Lindgren Paul Starke Michael Palm Toft Awaiting a Workington person to tell us their team
  15. Well we lost them and have done ok but when you add in averages for this season not the BSPA green sheet rolling averages Richie is on 8.62 and Steve is on 5.41 both lads would have improved on these season averages I am sure. Anyway using these averages Richie would have been our number 1 rider and Steve may have edged Claes Nedermark down to reserve and we all know how effective Claes would have been had he been our reserve more than he was. We at Newcastle want to believe that the twins will be ours for 2013. Well here we go into the KO Cup 2nd leg with all of our top 5 riders averaging 6 or 7 points so why should the Comets be fearing us. Well our riders are unpredictable thats why.
  16. As a Rene Bach fan I am pleased his injury wasn't as bad as feared. Why do I keep thinking he will cop a max and see Newcastle off? Ok yeah its a team event and you have another rider in Adam Roynon whom is likely to be unbeaten too. Newcastle's away record shows we are great at getting 3-3's with a couple of 4-2's to go with the 3-3's. Our achilles heel is heats 13 and 15 I am not confident that we can scrape even a 3-3 in these two heats, but having said that we have 5 riders that are likely to win other heats. Hard to forecast not knowing who the guest for Richie Worral will be. Hey if Newcastle still had the talented twins I think we would win this tie. With Workingtons problems over continuing next season in mind I hope this meeting is exciting for the home fans and goes to a last heat decider but then for Newcastle's nominated riders ride out of their skins and get us through to meet Ipswich
  17. Rockin Robin may fit but hasn't Steve Worrals guest got to be a NL rider like Paul Starke? Do any Workington fans know what their line up will be?
  18. Hi Dontforgetthefueltapsbruv Right now we at Newcastle would settle for being in Ipswich's position. You have done well to reach the final whilst we have a tough match in Cumbria to negotiate before we can meet you. If we get to the final I will be happy to see Dakota North again. He won a lot of fans when he was here on Tyneside and averaging 6.49 he would be likely to cause his old team some problems Is Abbott there? Any news on the guests for saturday?
  19. Hiya whatsyour name, I will call you Fred. My name is Daniel Todan. Although friends call me John! Cannot imagine why! We oop north think Workington v Newcastle should have been the KO Cup final I am looking forward to Ipswich v NEWCASTLE! in the final but the comets might think otherwise, so keep it to yourself eh!
  20. Ah a dyslexic Ipswich fan. You stand no chance. If we beat Workington we will beat you. If Workington beat us they will beat you. All newcastle fans hope Rene is ok though we don't mind if he sits this one out
  21. Score from 1st leg: Workington 36 Newcastle 54. will the 18point lead be overcome by the comets or will the Diamonds restrict the comets to a 17 point home win or less. Whomever wins this tie will go on to beat Ipswich or my name isn't J...er Dantodan
  22. Hi NJC71 There are 5 days of healing, to go to the 2nd leg. I think Richard Lawson will be ok and maybe Rene too. True we ran them close at DP, a few months back. But past efforts count for nothing. All of our riders are struggling for points at the moment, and we have no pair of riders that can compete in heats 13 and 15. I really hope that a couple of the Diamonds can compete at DP with Roynon, Lawson, Bach Arnio and co. but I doubt it If the Comets close down as per the rumours. I think we should open our money boxes and sign as many of their riders as we can afford. Bringing back Rene for 2013 would be a major coup for George/Darryl
