  2. Can the diamonds do better than their last visit and take maximum points
  3. yes I would like to know how he is doing, will he be absent as long as Andrew was or can we expect him to sign himself off in a shorter length of time?
  4. The August Greensheet averages make interesting reading Richie Worral 8.39 Ludvig Lindgren 7.13 Stuart Robson 7.10 Christian Henry 7.07 Andrew Tully 6.93 Lewis Kerr 5.54 Chris Schramm 3.37 Total 45.53 Richie will have to ride at number 1 from 1st August, probably to the relief of Stuart. Not much to chose between the averages for Ludvig, Robbo Christian and Andrew they are all doing great and what about the Kerminator!! what a find he was
  5. Newcastle v Edinburgh at Brough. Who can forecast this one? The monarchs go well around our track and have already ditched us from the KO Cup with a win here at Brough. Craig Cook was brilliant on that occasion. I am certain that the diamonds are the better side even without our double figure at home man Christian Henry. I don't think the monarchs will win this time but the diamonds need every man scoring well, key will be the Andrew Tully/Ludvig Lindgren pairing if they struggle then maybe the visitors will come away with something. Come on the diamonds if you want to reach the playoffs beat the Monarchs
  6. I as usual expect the diamonds to win but by how many points? I would love all 4 points but will settle for 3. We are doing better on our travels than at home so be warned. I would love Newcastle and Redcar to be the top two teams in the table come September. The bears can beat the rest but not the diamonds, we want the title. 44-46 seems possible but look out Redcar, Newcastle have a strong side and most of our riders can gate and blast around turns one and two. As is usual the track is likely to be a huge factor in this, I really hope the diamonds entertain the home fans and a great match is the outcome a last heat decider maybe
  7. A difficult match to forecast, Newcastle are doing well with their away matches and so I forecast we will come away with at least 1 point. The Diamonds are without back injury man Christian Henry so it will be R/R at number 2. Our key rider for this could be Ludvig Lindgren whom I remember scoring 17 points at Redcar earlier in the year
  8. I don't mind so much losing league points if I have watched a great match and this match wasn't great. We may have had a last heat decider but the racing was poor. The track looked to have plenty dirt on it but no-one came from the back apart from lap 1 second bend, usually a Somerset rider. I cannot understand how we do so well in away meetings and then struggle at home. Our riders are pretty good so what is the reason?Gating: we have a team that can beat home teams from the gate on our travels but at Brough our lads are often beaten I missed the reason for Richies first tapes exclusion. It just looked like he beat the ref so why was he stopped?
  9. yeah well its more entertaining to have a rebel rouser. otherwise we would all nod off on this thread wouldn't we? now I fancy a pint of Guinness whose round is it?
  10. Newcastle teams in the past have struggled at Owlerton but hey! This Newcastle side may not fear the big track as much as our sides used to. The tigers fans are forecasting a home win. Well maybe... but don't be surprised if you are out-gated and out-paced by the 2013 diamonds. 50-40 to Sheffield? I think not! I am going for an away win, possibly a last heat decider. I hope Newcastle entertain and all 14 riders come through unscathed
  11. Newcastle need to get back to winning ways and why not do it in style against a Rye side that doesn't look as strong as our recent tormentors Ipswich, Edinburgh and Somerset. George English needs to get the best out of our riders, some of whom have dipped a bit since the start of the season. The Diamonds are a quality side, that much is certain but they do need to kick on through the next few weeks otherwise we will not get any honours. Can they do it? Yeah they can but we need Luddo and Tully to up their scoring.Welcome to Chris Schramm. You only need to score 5 or 6 points a match Chris and we will do better than when Steve was in the team suffering from an attack of low confidence and haven't we all had one of those. I hope we see Steve back in the team maybe 2014 Newcastle to get into the 50s against RH
  12. Hi Abbott, I think CH958 was asking where the Cycle Speedway Track in Cramlington is. I will ask "jack of diamonds" for directions and put them on his website ( www.newcastlecyclespeedway.co.uk ) and add the directions to the end of our Historically Speaking column in the programme
  13. A great result from the Diamonds point of view. The Monarchs are a good side and we need to be careful against them on Sunday at home. I hope no one picked up any injury seemed a lot of falls
  14. You must be joking! The Monarchs might beat us So you discount the Diamonds in your stupidly dismissive post, do you?. Monarchs may get the win but it will not be "easy" for them. Personally I am only interested in the aggregate scores which I think the Diamonds will come out on top
  15. just how much does it cost a team to have a foreign rider? The air fares in peak holiday times will be high. I often wonder how much of a teams income goes to the airlines and also in mileage expenses for a southern based rider to travel up to the north Redcar, Newcastle, Workington, Berwick and Scotland. I know that there are not enough British riders of PL quality around but if the foreign riders are so expensive maybe the league needs to employ more NL standard riders, would we notice if heat two was contested by 4 NL standard riders? I think not. Its all very well listing a load of foreign riders as available. Lubos Tomicek and Claes Nedermark appeal to me as worthy of a team place, but what about British NL riders? We (Newcastle)gambled on an English NL rider Lewis Kerr who must be a cheaper option than a foreigner and he has settled with Newcastle in the PL and is doing great. Berwick have NL Paul Starke also doing quite well. Not counting Aussies and NZ'ers do we really need to fork out a fortune on foreign riders who can score Just a few more points in the PL than NL lads?
  16. All that went wrong for the Bandits was that they got beat by the "enemy". I have watched many Newcastle visits to Shielfield and this is the first I can remember where we didn't get stuffed time after time by the home riders sweeping around the 4th bend. I think that bend produces some great overtaking manoeuvres and should be the blueprint for any trackman building a new track. I haven't see the match on TV yet and I am really looking forward to seeing it all again so I can have another rant at Paul Starke who rode very well apart from that incident
  17. Please let me go off on a tangent. There has been a deafening silence about Andrew Tully's recovery from his injury, does anyone know how he is doing? When can we expect to see him on track?
  18. Well Newcastle take the maximum 4 points despite some early hiccups and having two key riders out. The winners were Sky who screened an excellent match unless you were a Berwick fan. I thought the Berwick folk did an excellent job of promoting the PL derby clash and it has to go down as a bit of inspired TV programming by Sky to choose this match to cover. Berwick didn't have the fire power of the Newcastle side. The Diamonds won by superior gating and their 2nd bend blasts. I am not going to criticise Paul Starke for dropping it and turning a probable Newcastle 5-1 into a rerun 3-3 as we won the match anyway. Richie and Robbo did the business as numbers 1 and 5 should but it was Christian and Lewis who helped make this a Newcastle success story. I wish the Bandits well for the remainder of the season but the Diamonds were awesome and as the match was on Sky the rest of the PL will know what to expect when the Diamonds come calling.
  19. What a shock for Speedway fans to come on this thread having decided to travel to see 2 evenly balanced sides racing around Berwicks very fast circuit and what do we read? This rider and that rider not available and Newcastle not saying if two injured riders will turn out. WELL WHY SHOULD THE PUBLIC PAY TO SEE THIS MATCH if the promoters cannot guarantee full strength sides. What a shambles but I am coming anyway to watch teams with NL riders! I hope not!
  20. Glasgow pay Brough Park their usual BH Monday visit. Looking forward to seeing Joe Screen again.
  21. Newcastle's first Premier League match. Cup matches are fine but the Premier League is what every team wants to do well in. As usual I am going for a Newcastle win :-)
  22. Hi Tsunami, How to get more fans through the turnstiles? The age old question and despite my past involvement with the Diamond Geezers I still don't know how that can be achieved apart from one obvious thing lower the admission charge, I know that is a no brainer. Advertising is the main tool. Adverts in local press, radio and TV. If only we could attract the fans that have stopped coming but how....We tackled this back in 2004/2005 but whatever success we had then appears to have been blown in the wind. Do you know how the tracks that are well supported treat their fans someone must be getting things right and when we find the track that is bucking the trend we need to copy everything they do. However, the Newcastle Plymouth match is a bad one to compare as there were no visiting fans in the stadium and who could blame them, Plymouth is almost a foreign country
  23. Told you so! I really hope the Devils ride well tonight at Brough Park we pay to see good racing after all and yes let us all wish that both sets of riders come through the match unscathed let us hope that he didn't aggravate his injury and we will see him back in the team tonight. Has anyone any news of Andrew Tully?
