The Rockets may line up as follows: - Edward Kennett Kasper Lykke R/R Anders Mellgren Robin Aspegren Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen Luke Bowen Danny Maassen Possible Diamonds Line up Steve Worrall Tero Aarnio Lewis Kerr Anton Rosen Ludvig Lindgren Simon Neilsen AN Other? Guest for Christian Henry Rye's visit to Newcastle on Sunday 26th July was postponed due to the British weather. Newcastle can scare teams as although the riders averages are nothing to shout about each of our guys can win a heat. Steve Worrall is going well in 2015 he is the pick of our riders.

Sorry to learn that Christian has a back injury. I have been plagued by back trouble and had an op to insert 2 metal plates and 6 big screws to hold my bottom two verterbrae. Then I had a bone graft. There is no way I would have been able to ride a speedway bike either before of after my back surgery. I hope Christians injury doesn't entail what I had done as it would be worse than his season being over, it would end his career! Diamond from years ago Rod Hunter rode with a back problem So Newcastle's team of talented "Second Strings" are home to Rye House if the weather forecast for Sunday is wrong. Not 100% sure of the line up but we are likely to go with Steve Worrall Tero Aarnio Lewis Kerr Anton Rosen Ludvig Lindgren © Simon Neilsen Josh Bates (G) Rye House Something Like Ed Kennett Kasper Lykke Nielsen R/R Anders Mellgren Robin Aspegren Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen Luke Bowen Danny Maassen Steve, Lewis and Ludde will notch up big scores I think and Anton and Tero have something to prove. Simon is going well now and is likely to notch a good return from the number 6 berth. George has been able to bring in a good and popular guest Josh Bates, I wouldn't say no to him if he wanted to transfer to us full time

Right from the beginning of the season I have questioned Simon Neilsen but now he is doing fine for a Premier League reserve. If he is ever sacrificed then I would hope it was to bring in someone a lot better and not a gamble on someone else who has yet to impress. Lewis Rose has always looked a better prospect than Simon so maybe If Tero proves his worth before Lewis comes back it will mean Simon going? Then there is Christian falling to reserve. He has to produce the goods as well as if team changes are being made maybe the boomerang will not come back

Last week the Diamonds hammered Scunthorpe. Rye House are up next on the 26th. The new look Diamonds are likely to line up as follows: - Steve Worrall Tero Arnio Lewis Kerr Anton Rosen Ludvig Lindgren Simon Neilsen Christian Henry (or a guest) New guy Finn Tero Arnio is capable of winning races so lets hope he does just that in his 28 day contract. Injured Lewis Rose will come back and challenge Tero for a team place.

Newcastle Vs Scunthorpe 19 Jul 2015 6.30pm
dantodan replied to StevePark's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Tero Arnio (Spelling test) is probably a good signing to replace Lewis Rose. Tero would have pushed Christian down to reserve which wudda been great but now Christian joins Lewis Rose on the sick note list so our promoters have not acheived the "good move" they had in mind However. The official Newcastle website says the promoters are thinking about riders for 2016. All I really care about is the sport continuing into 2016 -
Newcastle V Sheffield Pl 12 Jul 15 6.30pm
dantodan replied to StevePark's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Well our team of second strings was found wanting again. The side was put together without worrying the bank manager. I can understand our promoters point of view. Can Newcastle afford a 9 point plus rider? nope not really so we hoped our 7 "attractive" riders, a couple of whom could make strides upwards and mean us winning most fixtures but here in the middle of July it hasn't happened.... Yet! Only Steve Worrall has impressed me in 2015, he alone is having a fine season home and away for the Diamonds. The Sheffield match showed yet again that glorified second strings can not win you matches on their own. You need at least one big hitter to do that. If only Steve had had a 9 point average rider with him in heats 13 & 15 the result could have been different. Having said all this I would rather our promoters continue to keep a tight reign on payments out to ensure we can stay with it and not close down -
So the Diamonds team of second strings ( I know! it makes me unpopular) plus 2 reserves are due in Workington on Saturday. Despite us not having a couple of recognised Heat leaders, I think and I hope, the Diamonds will get something out of this match. Our main men Ludvig, L Kerr and Steve Worrall will score points but will they get enough for at least a point against the Comets...?? who knows. It may come down to how well Christian Henry and Anton Rosen go if the Diamonds are to come away with the spoils I won't be there but I hope the match turns out to be a great one

So the weekend approaches and because of the Cardiff Grand Prix we have no home match. I went there once and didn't like it then I went to Marketta Stadium in Prague Czech Republic and enjoyed that GP 100% Cardiff has probably staged a much better GP than the only one I have been too but my GP memories that have lasted are of Nicki Pedersen in Prague, can't even remember who won the Cardiff GP I was at!

Georges mam Joan springs to mind she could Shoo them to the turnstile and twist their arms until they paid. No-one would mess with Joan, she could even get George to pay his way in I hope there are enough paying customers every home meeting to avoid closing down. I have been there before and it isn't good. I once bought shares donkey years ago but we still closed and I never got a penny back. I remember a few years back a rider, living local, drove through the pits gate with a number of "free loading imigrants" in his van, dare I name him. Yes I do Dickie Juul. If he did it I suspect others have or still are doing it too. Before I quit the subject I would like to know just how many people on a race night have gained admission for free and WHY I am not having a pop at the many staff whom don't abuse free entry

So Newcastle's team of "Second Strings" plus two reserves rode like league champions against the Scorpions. The Diamonds are looking good at home when Glasgow come to Brough. The team will be re-shuffled by then as the July greensheet averages come in. If I was in charge I would list our team as follows: 1. Steve Worrall (definitely Newcastle's number 1 of 2015) 2. Christian Henry ( a good second string but not in heat 14, sorry Chris) 3. Ludvig Lindgren (he has ridden at number 1 and number 5, putting him at 3 would make life a bit easier for him. I think he deserves being number 3) 4. Anton Rosen ( Putting the "Turnip Twins" together makes sense and Anton may just shade Christian in heat 14) 5. Lewis Kerr ( pairing Lewis with the reserves will allow him to go for heat wins and link him with Steve in heat 13, Ludde couldn't gate in heat 13 and with Steve at Number 1 Lewi may just do better than Ludde does at number 5) 6. Simon Nielsen (going better than some of us forecast. Yes me included Keep it up Simon) 7. Lewis Rose ( I enjoy watching Lewis ride. He has a good outside line and can be good inside too, maybe he just needs a faster motor) I think Steve is better now than Richie was a couple of seasons ago when he rode for us so maybe Steve will decide he made the right choice in coming back to us. Learning at Brough Park in early careers helped World Champs Ivan Mauger, Ole Olsen, Anders Michanek and Nicki Pedersen to world titles, so go on the Worrall twins.. I remain a big fan of Ludvig Lindgren. His bucking broncho rides and outside overtakes are what I pay to see. But Ludde you need to learn how to gate. It must be very much harder than it looks this side of the fence, If you could get in front on the first bend you can do the rest and would be very hard to beat My obversation of riding Brough Park. Ivan Mauger came off the bends at full throttle and down the straights then just after the starting gate he threw his bike sideways at full throttle and drifted the corners. So many riders shut off before entering the corners perhaps they need to learn to enter the corners sideways/faster. Ok i know Ivan was amazing but things have not changed that much. I think learning to enter the bends faster is the key to winning at Brough

With small crowds the promoters should be looking at how to reduce costs. I have no idea how many fans get in for free. I have no problem with this if they are doing essential work on behalf of Newcastle Speedway but are all free admissions doing essential work!. However, when I was running the Diamond Geezers in 2004/2005. We did not ask for the Diamond Geezers to get free admission despite countless hours/whole days that we spent helping the cause. We all paid to get in. If the situation comes where the promoters are on the point of closing us down due to lack of funds then maybe staff could bolster the coffers by paying to get in or pooling their admission money to sponsor a few heats etc. I know this post will make me unpopular but we need to consider how to keep the speedway in Brough Park otherwise if it closes none of us will have anything to do on Sunday evenings

Yes I raised an eyebrow too. How anyone can forecast Scunny winning on sunday is beyond me. The only question is, can the diamonds win by more than 16 points and go through to the next round. I think they will do it but I am a little bit biased. Steve is usually in double figures and Ludde should score heavily too. Lewis Kerr has had a few bad rides but he too can hit 12 points or more. Christian has been a bit hit n miss but when the chips are down he usually gets stuck in and gets the points. Our reserves Simon and Lewis R are doing fine. That leaves Anton Rosen.. back from injury and riding well. Anton is a class rider hopefully he can make some starts against a weaker side -Scunthorpe and his points will better what we had been getting from R/R when he was missing through injury The KO Cup is now our main competition, the League Cup and Premier League look beyond our reach so come on lads lets win the KO Cup so brush Scunny aside on Sunday and set us up on a cup run

Newcastle 1.Lewis Kerr 2.Anton Rosen 3.Steve Worrall 4.Christian Henry 5.Ludvig Lindgren 6.Simon Nielsen 7.Lewis Rose Scunthorpe 1. Josh Auty or Guest 2. Theo Pijper 3. Ryan Douglas or R/R 4. Carl Wilkinson 5. Alex Davies 6. Ben Wilson 7. Nike Lunna This is the second leg of the Premier League Knock Out Cup. The first leg finished Scunthorpe 53 Newcastle 37 Scunthorpe have a 16 point advantage before a wheel is turned at Brough Park on the 28th June. I think the Newcastle team of "second strings" are showing one or two who are becoming heatleaders, Steve and Ludde. Christian has been a bit "off" in last few weeks. If he can hit 8 or 9 against the Scorpions and the rest score what they usually manage at home, then I can see us winning by 20 points which will be enough to get us through to the next round

Is it not a nice feeling that Plymouth are not in the Edinburgh/Somerset or Peterborough mould. This match gives us time to regroup after Anton's come back. We could do with a comfortable win even though I would personally like a last heat decider every week If Newcastle are to win anything this may hinge on how Anton goes. If he can be the heatleader we lack then welcome back the rocket Anton Rosen. If he cannot be our out and out number 1 then no problem Anton The rest of your team mates are not top heat leader material either. Lewi, Steve and Ludde are entertaining, I enjoy watching them especially Ludde. I think his outside blasts are great to watch but I think the track seems to prevent an outside liner this season. Every match I worry about Heats 13 and 15 Lewi and Ludde do their best but their opposite numbers in these heats often have the edge. Just an observation. I can understand why this team were put together financially so in real terms I suppose I will support the team we have got even if we win Nowt! Come on the Diamonds

Sheffield: Lasse Bjerre (guest) , Ashley Birks, David Bellego, Jason Garrity, Andre Compton, Arthur Sissis, Josh Bates Newcastle: Lewis Kerr, Actually a Newcastle Rider! Anton Rosen – Rider replacement, Carl Wilkinson (guest), Christian Henry, Actually a Newcastle Rider! Kevin Doolan (guest), Simon Nielsen, Actually a Newcastle Rider! Richard Hall (guest) I believe the rules say 4 riders missing = 3 guests and a R/R but why not 4 guests. If Newcastle get anything out of this match I will be pleased but what the Sheffield fans will feel like if we get any points from the match I can only guess. You will be angry tigers yes! Well done George English for putting a side together. I still think the match should be postponed as it makes a mockery to run with only 3 Newcastle riders in a Sheffield v Newcastle match then there is a Sheffield guest Lass Bjerre too. I wonder what this will look like to anyone visiting Owlerton for the first time. I wouldn't like to explain the 4 guests and R/R to a new punter. It is simply rubbish to expect the public to pay to watch this match... The Sheffield public are being deprived of seeing 7 Newcastle riders ha ha! I know we are not usually an attractive side around Owlerton Anyway for those that pay to watch Sheffield I sincerely hope this "Newcastle" team entertain you
-
Newcastle Lewis Kerr Anton Rosen Steve Worrall Christian Henry Ludvig Lindgren Simon Nielsen Lewis Rose Couldn't find a recent Plymouth line up but I think the Devils may track these riders Kyle Newman Morten Risager Todd Kurtz Jack Holder Ryan Fisher Roland Benko Zdenek Simota It will be good to see ex-diamond Kyle Newman again. I am pleased to see him at number 1. It will be good to watch a match that we should win, after succesive home defeats, but you never know Plymouth could cause us to worry if they get off to a good start
-
Seems like a postponement of this fixture is the sensible option but if we go with Richard and Doolan as guests then good luck lads. The Premier league should be allowed to use the riders over the Elite League as our league is bringing on riders that will if they are good enough feature exclusively in Elite teams in the future. Why should Premier teams be penalised like this

Sometimes I wonder why I start some Newcastle v Another threads. hi-jacking is a crime in the UK. I hadn't seen Robert Lambert ride until he won the match Newcastle v Peterborough. Yes that is what this thread is for. The youngster was pretty good to watch. He is part of the future of British Speedway. A talent like his should be encouraged not criticised. I look forward to watching him challenge the top riders in the world and sorry but Peterborough cannot stand in his way. If he needs time off to compete on the world stage it should be encouraged most of us would endorse this but if you are small minded you will disagree. Let us look at the bigger picture. British Speedway needs Tai and Robert to win international events so we can wave the union jack

This could prove to be a very interesting thread. George Englishes phone will be in constant use leading up to this match. It looks like Lewis Kerr ? Anton Rosen ? Steve Worrall? Christian Henry available and available for your house party or Bar B Cue most days! Ludvig Lindgren ? Simon Neilsen ? only if he does not still suffer from his crash on Sunday Lewis Rose ? The question mark on my keyboard has disintergrated into little pieces Could be a strange Newcastle line up. Advert... any riders who do well at Owlerton apply to Newcastle for guest bookings

I agree but our team doesn't have any heatleaders we have a team of improving second strings, plus two reserves. The match was lost at heat 13 imo. Home numbers 1 and 5 should be reliable enough to get the points in heat 13. I like Lewi and Ludde but they are not yet heatleaders. I always cross my fingers for heats 13 and 15 and last night I crossed my toes too....and that is why I fell over, nothing to do with paying £3.50 a pint!!! So we roll on to Sheffield on Thursday and the way away teams are winning should we pencil in a win at Owlerton This post is directed at any member of the track staff. Every week now we seem to see the blade on the back of a tractor. I have always thought this TOOL was used by the daytime staff and isn't part of the normal night time track activities unless the track was very wet? The blade was used last night and so was the water bowser so the blade wasn't to skim off wet shale. I am interested and yes I do have an anorak

Not sure of the Sheffield line up as there will be guest(s) involved. Newcastle are now back to full strength Newcastle Lewis Kerr Christian Henry Steve Worrall Anton Rosen Ludvig Lindgren Simon Nielsen Lewis Rose The last time Newcastle paid a visit to Owlerton the score was 57-36 only Steve Worrall 9 and Ludvig Lindgren 8 performed the rest of the Diamonds didn't do well. Hopefully this match will be different The Diamonds are on a rollercoaster a defeat (Somerset) at home then a comfortable away win at Ipswich followed by another home defeat at the hands of Peterborough. Newcastle sides have traditionally not performed well at Owlerton and vice versa. I can only wish both teams an injury free match and hope that win or lose the Diamonds entertain the paying public in Sheffield
