  1. Question: Will Tero be back on Sunday. The team needs the little guy. As I have said all season long, Newcastle are a team of second strings, we do not have a proper heatleader. Steve is close but still not in the heatleader mold. Now Edinburgh have 3 heatleaders Craig Cook, Sam Masters and Kevin Wolbert. Much as I would love us to win big enough to go through to the cup. I think the Monarchs heatleaders will stop us and that is the end of the season despite the rearranged Rye House match
  2. Hi Ruff.. you are a whole year in front of us! What about 2016.. I am really pleased to be discussing Newcastle speedway in 2016. Our crowds are not very big but obviously George and the promotion team think the support is good enough to continue. Who is the most successful Newcastle Promoter? Well Johnnie Hoskins, Mike Parker and Ian Thomas were great promoters but our current guy local man George English gets my vote. George has been in charge since 1997 thats 18yrs and counting. George is miles ahead of our other promoters in length of time running the diamonds without turning his back on us. Keep going George and yes I know he has a promotional team behind him but George has been an ever present since 1997 So what can we expect against the monarchs? I think we will be battling to win the meeting not the aggregate
  3. Newcastle v Edinburgh have always been entertaining contests. However the first leg at Edinburgh ended 34-56 to the monarchs and now the diamonds have a mountain to climb.
  4. Well why would I want to start this thread and then be associated with this Abysmal display. I had checked my crystal ball and decided to stay well clear of this match!! I hope the lads can sort themselves out for Glasgow on Sunday otherwise the season is almost over
  5. The Newcastle websites shows the teams as follows: - Second leg at Newcastle at 8.00pm: SCB referee– Peter Clarke Newcastle Sapphire Engineering Diamonds 1. Steve Worrall 8.08 2. Christian Henry 4.97 r/r 3. Richie Worrall 7.22 guest for Lewis Kerr (7.52 enhanced) 4. Anton Rosen 6.00 5. Ludvig Lindgren © 7.02 6. Simon Nielsen 4.04 7. Tero Aarnio 4.10 Glasgow Tigers 1 Nick Morris 8.45 2 James Sarjeant 5.37 3 Aaron Summers © 7.41 4 Kauko Nieminen r/r 7.25 5 Richard Lawson 8.43 6 Victor Palovaara 4.68 7 Hynek Stichauer 3.00 Newcastle have one 8 point plus rider in the "Nice Twin" Steve Worrall and his "Evil Twin" Richie is back where he belongs. I am sure the Worralls and Ludde will be able to stop the Glasgow heatleaders, Morris, Summers and Lawson from doing too much damage. With a probable deficit from the first leg we need, Anton and the reserves to pick up enough points to get us an aggregate win
  6. The Newcastle website states the teams as follows: - Glasgow Tigers 1 Nick Morris 8.45 2 James Sarjeant 5.37 3 Aaron Summers © 7.41 4 Kauko Nieminen r/r 7.25 5 Richard Lawson 8.43 6 Victor Palovaara 4.68 7 Hynek Stichauer 3.00 Newcastle Sapphire Engineering Diamonds 1. Steve Worrall 8.08 2. Christian Henry 4.97 r/r 3. Matej Kus 6.79 guest for Lewis Kerr (7.16) 4. Anton Rosen 6.00 5. Ludvig Lindgren © 7.02 6. Simon Nielsen 4.04 7. Tero Aarnio 4.10 The Tigers will be looking for a big win at 1.30pm to take south to Newcastle for the second leg at 8.00pm, fans will need to turn up at Brough at such a late hour in their pyjamas Well it is past my bedtime so I will Nick Morris, Aaron Summers and Richard Lawson will no doubt lead the way for Glasgow. Only Steve Worrall averaging 8.08 pts looks capable of stopping the Tigers top three from going through the first leg unbeaten by a diamond! I am not sure how the Newcastle guest Matej Kus will go at Glasgow I hope he will do the business for George English whom obviously rates the Czech rider. I am not so sure that Matej can get enough points but who knows and who else was available?? I would have asked the "Evil Twin", Richie Worrall to guest in the afternoon match and the evening return match, as well but maybe it was too much to ask of Richie. Richie is in the Newcastle v Glasgow 2nd leg so it will be great to see both Worralls riding for the Diamonds again. At Glasgow Newcastle will be hoping that Ludvig Lindgren, Anton Rosen, Simon Neilsen and Tero Aarnio can get amongst the points to give us a chance of an aggregate win. Well whatever happens I hope the Diamonds entertain the Glasgow public and both sets of fans enjoy the two legs, Oh yes! I want Newcastle to win
  7. The second leg of the day. Can Newcastle keep the first leg at 1.30pm at Glasgow close enough to make the second leg interesting at Brough Park. The Diamonds need to defeat the Tigers on aggregate to extend the Brough Park season Newcastle Steve Worrall Christian Henry R/R Lewis Kerr (Guest, Richie Worrall hopes?) Anton Rosen Ludvig Lindgren Simon Neilsen Tero Aarnio Glasgow Nick Morris James Sarjeant Aaron Summers Kauko Nieminen R/R Richard Lawson Victor Palovaara Hynek Stichaeur As the time approaches we should have the teams confirmed. If you already know of any changes please post on here
  8. Sunday 30th August 2015 sees Glasgow stage the first leg of this aggregate Knock Out Cup clash at 1.30pm with Newcastle staging the second leg later in the day at 8.00pm. Lots of fans will make the two legs on Sunday but this thread is dedicated to the first leg at Glasgow. Glasgow Nick Morris James Sarjeant Aaron Summers Kauko Nieminen R/R Richard Lawson Victor Palovaara Hynek Stichaeur As a Newcastle supporter I have no idea if my Glasgow team shown above will be the Tigers line up for the two legs? Newcastle Steve Worrall Christian Henry R/R Guest for Lewis Kerr Anton Rosen Ludvig Lindgren Simon Neilsen Tero Aarnio As the meeting approaches the teams may change so please add any changes to this thread This is Newcastles last chance at extending the season
  9. Lowly Newcastle are coming down to Peterborough whom are looking good. Can the diamonds re-produce their home form and give the Panthers a shock? Nah well as a realist I don't think we can but as 3 of our riders have had a few laps around Peterborough in the ill-fated tournament when our Lewi Kerr was injured maybe we will get a few more points. I hope the Diamonds are entertaining visitors
  10. Heat 1 was a spectactular start with Simon getting in the way of Steve. Happily the "nice twin" walked away from hitting the fence upside down! and went on to notch a five ride paid maximum. Ludde too was flying, if only he could make his life easier by outgating the rest but we all love watching the guy wrestling his bike at full throttle to catch the leader. I pay my admission to be entertained and captain Lightnin does that on his own. The race of the night /season came in heat 14 When Berwicks inspired choice of guest Rob Branford took the lead and Anton Rosen and Simon Neilsen took up the chase. 4 laps of brilliant racing saw all 3 riders cross the finish line together with Simon finishing the faster. The result a 4-2 to the diamonds with Simon getting the win and Anton less than a bike length in third. But equal admiration to Rob Branford. The lad was brilliant in the whole match and should be on George's guest list at home and his shopping list for next season So we all witnessed a great feast of racing despite Bandits not looking likely winners, they had a couple of class riders in Thomas Jorgensen 14, and Edinburgh Guest Rob Branford 11+1 These two were impressive and if Risager & Doolan had performed the result could have been in doubt. Anton had a better match, I think his confidence may have taken a knock mid season but there are signs he is riding himself out of it
  11. Yeah! well as much as I don't like being taken for granted, my daughter and I, as usual will be there, on our step near the 4th bend, hoping to see a great match for our money, yes most of us pay. Whoever at Brough is responsible for keeping the press informed has let the fans down for the Berwick match. I presume the guy or lady responsible gets in for free while we don't. well in future earn your free ticket and inform those of us who pay every week of the riders we will be paying to see. We are the reason why speedway is still continuing in Newcastle. The paying public should get a whole lot more from the people Newcastle Speedway seem to think are worthy of free admission. Well if you cannot even say who is riding on the day of a home match then you are not worth your free admission cost to our sport and you should chuck it in! Having said all this, as a proper speedway fan, I, as always, am looking forward to supporting Newcastle against all teams, Berwick tonight despite not knowing which riders will be on show. I would like to offer the person at fault the chance to explain themself via the forum so please answer this post, if you can be bothered
  12. Well whose riding tonight? Neither teams websites give us any clues but..... The Diamonds are without Lewi Kerr, Lewis Rose and Christian Henry and are likely to be served rumour has it, by Carl Wilkinson guesting for Lewi, Tero Aarnio (signed in) for Lewis Rose but Tero is carrying an injury too, and R/R for Christian With all due respect to Carl we could have had a higher scoring guest now couldn't we? Or am I the only person on here that didn't know a better guest wasn't available Well, I like Carl and he often has good races here but he also has his problems, falls and going out wide in the rough stuff around the boards, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't Ask Ludde!!. I like to watch Carl but he is so unreliable. Have a good match Wilko! Tero, if fit, is a great little rider he can gate, blast around the boards and when he has to or hug the white line. I like him being in the team as he, like Wilko, is unpredictable but Tero the Hero rarely doesn't score. He could be a match winner. R/R for Christian is a bit suspect as most of his rides will be covered by our reserves plus I believe Anton Rosen... Now Anton is a decent rider who appears to be struggling with a lack of confidence. He often backs out of challenging the guy in front which appears to be a confidence issue. So come on Anton you can do it! As far as Berwick are concerned. They signed Mathias Thornblom to ride at number 1. He may have been injured yesterday? The Bandits had brought in Arthur Sissis as a guest but he picked up an injury yesterday. So the Newcastle disciples head for Brough unclear as to which riders will be on show tonight but we pay our money as we are the grass support of Newcastle Speedway. Lets hope the two teams rev up and go, let us be entertained we pay our admission with that hope in mind
  13. I didn't know about Carl and R/R but I am only one person perhaps I was the last to know RASP!
  14. Arthur Sissis is a far better guest for Berwick. He can score points at Brough Park. No news yet of the guest(s) for the Diamonds. I am looking forward to seeing the Bandits at Brough it seems like ages since their last visit. Bring some support Berwick as we all need a few extra quid through the turnstiles. I hope Tero the Hero is improved injury-wise as he usually gets amongst the points
  15. Yes White Knight. I was just trying to say Lewi may want to do that, get on a bike before he is ready / fit enough
  16. Lewi Kerr has been discharged by the hospital. Amazing progress he must really be "The Kerminator" Our thoughts go to Lewi and his family as care in hospital is down to medical staff whom have seen it all before, his family now have the task of making Lewi's recovery their number 1 priority and it may not be easy! I will bet his family will have a problem keeping him well as he will be eager to get back his mojo and will want to visit Brough and Kings Lynn etc and also want to get on a bike again. Take it easy Lewi and get well soon. We Newcastle fans salute you for doing so well Good luck mate!
  17. Hi Diamond at Heart, I don't mess around. Well starting threads a bit early gives us all something to do, doesn't it. I am an old guy who remembers the days when you had to wait for days for a newspaper (Journal/Chronicle) to tell you what was going on. I love the communication speed we have now thanks to the internet and all the devices we can use. We are all better informed than ever before and I love it OO-er getting carried away now!!
  18. Newcastle Steve Worrall Christian Henry Injured (Guest or R/R) Lewis Kerr Injured (Guest or R/R if a guest please make it Richie Worrall) Anton Rosen Ludvig Lindgren Simon Neilsen Lewis Rose Injured (Replaced by Tero Aarnio) Berwick Guest Fernando Garcia Mathias Thornblom Thomas Jorgensen Kevin Doolan Alex Edberg ? Not sure of the Berwick line up
  19. I really enjoyed the match, despite the easy win scoreline. Ricky Wells continues to prove he is one of the best visitors to Brough. He stopped Ludde on a maximum charge. Ricky against our guest Richie Worrall ( I say guest, but Richie is always going to be "ours") was a classic race with the "Evil Twin" going out really wide in the loose dirt and passing Ricky on a Black and White. The race was excellent. We really want Richie back here in 2016, so come on George English get his signature for next year. Having Steve and Richie in our side again would be brilliant, they started with us as reserves a few years back but both are premier league heat leaders now. I will support Newcastle "Worrall" Diamonds in 2016. with these two we wouldn't need to bring in an out and out number one rider as either brother could be that. Tero Aarnio is looking like a good addition to our team well done the promoters in bringing him back to the premier league Simon Neilsen had his best night ever at Newcastle Si rode 7 times in the match notching 11 plus 3. Simon has been getting better and better every week at home at Brough, he is really good around the first two turns from his starts and often hits the front to be beaten back on the 3rd and 4th turns of lap 1. All he needs to do is attack the 3rd/4th turns and he will be hard to beat Come on Lewi
  20. I seem to remember the big Citroen would take a couple of bikes and you could shut the boot, 1970s diamond Graeme Stapleton may have had a Safari?? I agree everything should be done to cut costs
  21. The Diamonds go into this one minus 3 injured riders Lewis Kerr, Lewis Rose and Christian Henry We always try and get the better of our northern rivals so look out comets
  22. All concerned at Scunthorpe on Friday will have heavy hearts. Lewi is still very unwell but hopefully he will be alert enough to ask if the diamonds won at Scunthorpe. The officila Newcastle website list the Diamonds team for this match as follows:- Newcastle Diamonds 1. Steve Worrall 8.08 2. Lewis Kerr 7.16 r/r 3. Richard Hall (guest 3.96) for Christian Henry 4.97 (back injury) 4. Anton Rosen 6.00 5. Ludvig Lindgren © 7.02 6. Simon Nielsen 4.04 7. Tero Aarnio 4.10 Richard Hall is a rider I often admire. He is fast and spectacular when he misses the gate but for this match Richard make the gate mate eh! and net a haul of points for us. Tero could be a match winner. I don't know how he goes now but was very capable a season or two ago R/R for the unfortunate Lewis Kerr, far sooner have the tatooed one in the team, we will miss the Kerminator. I have been criticised for calling the Diamonds a team of second strings plus two reserves. Well Steve Worrall is now in heat leader heaven averaging over 8points per match! I may have called them a team of second strings but I watch every week and enjoy it Simon Neilsen has being going well in recent weeks but he has had an illness hopefully he has recovered from that
  23. I am starting this thread,. Upset to learn that Lewis Kerr is in a coma in hospital following his accident at Peterborough on Sunday in the four team tournament. Good luck Lewi we all wish you well. Life goes on however upset you are, and 5 days later Lewi's team are programmed to ride at Scunthorpe. I would bet Lewi would want his team to go to Scunthorpe and win so maybe that is what we should decide to do..Go to Scunthorpe? It is hard to think about anything but Lewis Kerr and his massive injury. please God let him survive this.
  24. No Problem Shads. It is easy to miss a thread started by someone else. I will try and upstage one of yours (just for fun) Newcastles team of seconds strings are hard to predict. I say a team of second strings but steve Worrall has now an average of 8.08 so maybe i should drop the team of second strings ploy ok. Rye could be in for a close match or even a shock (or is this just wishful thinking!) Newcastle Diamonds expected line-up (From the Official Diamonds Website) 1. Steve Worrall 8.08 2. Christian Henry 4.97 r/r 3. Lewis Kerr 7.16 4. Anton Rosen 6.00 5. Ludvig Lindgren © 7.02 6. Simon Nielsen 4.04 7. Rafal Konopka 3.00
