Not much going on now so maybe you are looking for speedway items to while away the time until next march Why not have a look at my 3 websites and if you have any interesting photos etc perhaps you can scan them and send the images to me for inclusion on the website(s) http://www.defunctspeedway.co.uk http://www.newcastlespeedwayhistory.co.uk http://www.newcastlecyclespeedway.co.uk Website 1 covers Defunct Tracks and a whole lot more besides the sports defunct tracks Website 2 is the unofficial history of Newcastle Speedway, I say unofficial but as there is no "official" history website and you want Newcastles history then this is the site to visit. Website 3 Is the history of Cycle Speedway around the Newcastle area I think you will be suitably impressed by the three websites and hope you may be able to help us provide an even better set of websites

Like I said White Knight I will ignore your posts for ever more. If I said it was black you would say it was white. End of conversation
-
Hi Ruff, I am sometimes misunderstood on the forum, but really The White Knight must know his reasons for staying away are trivial and I suspect he has a real reason for staying away which he is keeping to himself whatever that may be. TR and Ludde and the other reasons he puts forward are not important enough to stop a real fan from coming every week. Anyway much more importantly what breed of dog have you got? It looks savage!!
-
Yes some fans have stopped coming for a variety of reasons. Those of us who pay every week would like to welcome back any fans whose admission fees will help to keep the sport going we need another 75 paying customers every week. If you have a problem with that White Knight then you cannot consider yourself to be a true supporter. You seem obsessed with TR and Ludvig. I don't like TR and sometimes Ludde infuriates me but I accept TR and Luddes up and down performances. Ludde would be great at Number 3 or 4 in the team. It is hardly his fault that the team strength means he rides at 1 or 5. Now getting back to you White Knight. The reasons you put forward for staying away are trivial and after this post I will ignore your posts for ever in future. Wake up man and smell the coffee. Your sport is slowly dying, if you care at all and don't want to come back for your trivial reasons then why not send Newspeed a cheque for the admission fee every week just to help speedway survive in the North East. Personally I think you sadly enjoy making negative comments due to some personality disorder but maybe I am wrong? However, how does it feel being in a minority of ONE

A Message to those who are haunting this thread. You have stopped coming through the turnstiles but are still interested enough to make posts on this forum. The team need extra fans through the turnstiles every week to make Newcastle Speedway a going concern so why not come back from March 2016. You were once hooked and nothing has changed the Diamonds are to continue so shut up and come back next year

Newcastle Announcement 27 September
dantodan replied to Terrace Grumbler's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
When George started his speech I thought here we go the track was closing down and I would have the unhappy job of adding a Newcastle Page to my http://www.defunctspeedway.co.uk website. But no! his flat voice lifted as he set about telling us that Wm Hill and Newspeed had agreed contract terms and that our often maligned promotion have secured the rights to run speedway here at Brough Park for another 5 yrs. Was I pleased? Yes you bet I am. Now when George said the current promotion has had a 19 yr unbroken run, modesty prevented him from saying, he has been the only promoter involved in 18 yrs past. The other's in our promotion teams had/have been involved for less lengthy spells and George alone will come up for 19 years in 2016. Some promoters may have won more silverware but what good is that if they then closed down. The fans want to have a speedway to come to. Other Promoters: - Johnnie Hoskins The "Father of Speedway" Johnnie S Hoskins is said by some to have invented speedway. Johnnie reopened Brough Park in 1938 and in 1939 with the Diamonds sitting pretty on top of the league the Germans invaded Poland and we closed down for the duration of WW2. With the war out of the way Johnnie was back at the helm from 1945-1948 Johnnie was in charge for a total of 6 yrs, so great as he was, he doesn't measure up to George English in my view. Mike Parker Mike re-opened Brough in 1961 and was in charge for 8 yrs before pulling the plug. Now I am old enough to regard the 1960s as special seasons with Ivan Mauger, Ole Olsen but clever as he was Mike Parker didn't care enough about Newcastle he moved on for business reasons. Mike Parker imo does not measure up to George English either. Mike brought us Ivan Mauger and Ole Olsen but both riders were a gamble which paid off he wasn't a good promoter just a successful one Ian Thomas Newcastle was closed 1971-1974 until Yorkshire Man Ian came along. His tenure ran from 1975-1984 9 years. We had the most successful spell ever under Ian's control but he hit financial problems and walked away. We had a stop start session from 1986 until George and Dave Rowland aka Tsunami came along and reopened the track in 1997. George has had a few different partners but after 18 yrs he has announced the speedway will continue in 2016. So who is the most successful promoter Newcastle have ever had? My personal opinion he is George English, take a bow George -
Dare I suggest! The Elite League are looking for more teams in 2016, so maybe George's announcement will be about this..... maybe a desperate Elite league have asked him to take the diamonds into the Elite League. If so, we will have to have help with bringing in upper tier riders as our PL team of second strings (And heatleader Steve Worrall) cannot compete. I know George is a committed PL promoter so maybe he has been asked to join EL and said no! Personally I think we do not have the level of support for the "First" Division but I also think we do not have the level of support for the "Second" Division so maybe George will say we are to drop down to the "Third" Division As a commited Newcastle fan, I will continue to pay each week regardless of which of the 3 divisions our team finds themselves in

Getting back to the match, Newcastles official website shows the Newcastle team Newcastle Sapphire Engineering Diamonds 1. Steve Worrall 8.34 2. Lewis Rose 3.84 guest for Christian Henry 4.97 (back injury) 3. Lewis Kerr R/R 7.03 Speedway injury. 4. Anton Rosen 5.52 5. Ludvig Lindgren © 7.27 6. Simon Nielsen 4.17 7. Tero Aarnio 4.53 TM – George English Perhaps a Rocket fan can supply their team? The Diamonds are no longer a team of second strings, The nice twin Steve has finished the season as at 8.34 a bone fida heatleader. Steve has had a great season and if he comes back next year we will watch him raise his average to over 9 points.. Who wins this match is of no importance but the guys on the bikes will enjoy racing as we willenjoy watching them, come on the diamonds

God knows how you have found out this before George English had announced it. Sunday will be a massive disappointment now! But hey 1 slice of bread good but two brilliant. I cannot wait for next year and maybe free curry sauce for season ticket holders. Roll on Sunday and George's announcement, if it dosen't mention Closing the bog and free slices of bread and curry sauce I know many long term fans will stay at home. I will still come every week as it is better than staying home with me wife, bless her little cotton socks!

Whilst we await much news etc. You might want to visit my speedway websites: http://www.newcastlespeedwayhistory.co.uk Site dedicated to the Diamonds from 1929 onwards and http://www.defunctspeedway.co.uk A very popular website and Mine and Keith Dyers Cycle Speedway site http://www.newcastlecyclespeedway.co.uk The history of cycle speedway in the region Have a look at the 3 websites, they are all very comprehensive and well worth your time browsing them

Ehhh I thought I had got away with that I think "The Dogs" should install CCTV to catch the culprit Our "Evil Twin" Richie has taken a booking from the visitors Rye House a most evil action Richie you shudda been riding for us. Lewis Rose is gonna ride as a replacement for Christian and the Kerminator is coming along to meet us all following his massive injury, great news Lewi & Lewis. The Newcastle website says: There will also be a big announcement made during the meeting concerning the future of Newcastle Speedway so make sure you come along to hear it first-hand! I think the way this has been handled It should be Good News??? I am clueless in this matter and can only cross my fingers until Sunday that this "Big" news will not be about the closure of the bog!!
-
My main concern before the announcement on Sunday 27th September is that we will be running in 2016. Hopefully George will tell us we are still running next year despite some low crowds in 2015. All supposing we continue who do you want in our team (hopefully a Premier League team) The shopping list has to start with our assets Steve Worrall He has established himself as our number 1 and has emerged as our only bona fide heatleader. I hope he will be back as our number 1 in 2016 Christian Henry I think the time has come for Christian to call it a day, I would welcome him back but only if he could start as a reserve Lewi Kerr I have no idea how fit Lewi will be. His injury was so bad, perhaps he will be told not to ride again but as if by a miracle if he is ok, we should give him a team place and see how he goes. Those better placed than me might be able to say he won't be riding in 2016 Anton Rosen Anton has had plenty opportunities to establish himself but imo has failed to do so. I do not think he should be asked back unless as a reserve Ludvig Lindgren Lightnin Lindgren is great to watch. He perhaps has reached his summit and will not get any better. I have enjoyed watching him coming from behind as his gating is not very good. A hard decision but maybe if a better prospect is out there we should let him go Simon Neilsen Like Ludvig Simon has been involved in some great races but I would let him go if we can get a better prospect Tero Aarnio A great addition to the squad, The Finn became a great reserve, he is another that I would welcome back in a reserve berth Lewis Rose Another possible for a reserve berth Richie Worrall If Richie wants to come home and Join his brother Steve it would be greatb ring him back George

I take it this match will bring down the curtain on a poor season. The highlight being the home form of the entire team (If we have not won anything then at least at home we have witnessed some great racing) and the seasons low points being the injuries to Lewi Kerr, Lewis Rose and Christian Henry. Diamonds Steve Worrall R/R or guest for Christian Henry R/R or guest for Lewi Kerr Anton Rosen Ludvig Lindgren Simon Neilsen Tero Aarnio Rockets At this stage of the season I cannot supply a team line up for RH, they last took to the track quite a few days ago, perhaps a Rockets fan can name the team for sunday. Brough hopes to watch Robert Lambert again, I think he can go all the way in the GPs like Tai Woffinden and should become one of englands automatic choices in international events

Newcastle Announcement 27 September

I think George will announce the closure of the Gents Toilets as you come into the stadium! er well maybe not. He could have given us a clue or just said we will be running in 2016. That is my main concern, that we have speedway next year 2016 riders Steve and Richie yes please, Lewi and Lewis yes please if the Kerminator is 100%, fit Tero yes please -

Yeah Lightning is great to watch but really only at Brough. We need a team that puts out two good reserves in heat 2 and two good heatleaders for heats 13 and 15. The Twins can cope with hts 13 and 15. and Tero would be great at reserve if averages permit in 2016 But please don't bring back Anton. I think he needs to stay at home and get his confidence back maybe then he could knock on the door again. So what will George announce? God knows! -

EH well maybe George will announce that we will have 3 heat leaders next year and 4 national league riders. Seriously I only hope that the announcement clearly states we are running next year and... The Worralls are to lead the team .AH ok I want Bjarne back too -
I have been "guilty" of calling the lads a "Team of Second Strings" well I will change that as Steve Worrall has emerged as a heat leader and I hope he and the evil twin will be Diamonds together again in 2016. Fingers crossed that will happen. The Newcastle website names Sundays Teams as follows: Newcastle Sapphire Engineering Diamonds 1. Steve Worrall 8.34 2. Christian Henry 4.97 r/r (back injury) 3. Richie Worrall 7.11 guest for Lewis Kerr (7.38 enhanced) Speedway injury. 4. Anton Rosen 5.52 5. Ludvig Lindgren © 7.27 6. Simon Nielsen 4.17 7. Tero Aarnio 4.53 Edinburgh Monarchs 1. Craig Cook captain 10.02 2. Justin Sedgmen 8.12 3. Kevin Wolbert 8.29 4. Erik Riss 5.10 5. Sam Masters 9.13 6. Max Clegg 3.26 7. Rob Branford 3.14 Now the Monarchs are a great team, Heat leaders Err ....(Cook, Wolbert and Masters) trying not to use terms like second strings/heat leaders will score heavily at Brough and reserve Branford impressed me last time he rode at here so the diamonds need a minor miracle to pull back so many points but you never know do you. Gotta be sensible and say the Monarchs will progress but maybe the Diamonds will give them a hard time!
