  1. Wish I was going too - been a couple of times and I think it is our favourite. Went to Ljubljana last year and travelled across by train to Termo Catez for a few days. Actually we are going to Workington this weekend but the Lake District is nice as well!
  2. The programmes are usually a lot cheaper in Prague, Poland and Latvia than those at Cardiff but are still glossy mags. We usually buy one but still take our own sheets to complete - let's hope that make the draw before we fly !!
  3. We usually sit on the fourth bend and the rows have always been numbered from no 1 at the front. However they have changed the block letters this year so who knows ! We have booked in block I as they are cheaper !
  4. We are not flying out until Friday from EMA but I am sure we will catch up with you in the beer tent on Saturday. Where are you sitting ?
  5. I don't think Ryanair have released any flights yet from Birmingham - if it gets any later it will be a "Winter Flight" !!!
  6. I would like to know that as well but are we sure that the date has been confirmed yet for Bydgoszcz ?
  7. Last year we flew to Lubljiana as we wanted to see the city. We took a train - it takes 1.5 to 2 hours depending on stops but the scenery is good !! We stayed at Terme Catez for three days (see Sandie's post) - a complex of three hotels, spas, swimming pools and Water Park. You have to ge a taxi from the railway station to the hotel, about 2 miles, and then need to get to Krsko, about 5 miles. The train did stop at Krsko as well so I suppose you can stay there but we like the days by the outdoor pool in April!
  8. Great pix - the crowd were very lively but then it was very cold - especially for those only wearing t-shirts
  9. Holiday Inn Cardiff this year - £ 95 for one night + £40 petrol = £ 135 (for 2) Next year they want £ 175 per night, minimum 2 nights = £ 350 + £50 petrol = £ 400 (for 2) Prague in a couple of weeks - Hotel next to Charles Bridge (2 nts) = £200 + Flights £136 = £ 336 (for 2) I know which city I prefer. We have been to most of the GP venues around Europe and always get good quality hotels (Radisson,Mercure,Novotel etc) at very reasonable prices (around £60) but there are cheaper ones available, and along with cheap flights the overall trip is much cheaper (as is the beer!!!)
  10. We have been eight times now and always use Easyjet or BMI baby with no problems. We also use Ryanair or Wizzair for other destinations. It all depends on where you want to fly from and the times that suit you as you might find a cheaper flight elsewhere but have to pay petrol and parking to get there. Best to cost out the overall trip. We usually fly out Friday just in case there are problems on a Saturday. Living in the Midlands, East Midlands is our first choice and then Birmingham or Luton but sometimes have to use Stansted. The BMI baby flight goes out in the morning from EM but costs a lot more than the Easyjet flight at teatime on the Friday. You arrive on Friday night while the bars are still open and get most of Sunday though if you go on Easyjet. Hope this helps.
  11. Does anyone know if Hans practised yesterday ?
  12. We are flying into Ljubljana and getting the train to Brezice for Terme Catez. We are taking a taxi from the airport to the station in Ljubljana - does anyone know the name of the station as there appears to be more than one in the city.
  13. We are staying at Terme Catez but need to organize transport to and from the stadium. We thought about booking a taxi through the hotel but wondered if anyone else had any ideas or plans we could share.
  14. We paid 50 KC (about £ 1.20) to go into the practice - that was 2004. In 2005 a polish fan coming out gave us his ticket and in 2006 we did not arrive until Friday evening. It is usually for 2 hours from 3 pm. The beer stalls are open as well !!!
  15. We were told about it but never got there. We were staying at the Holiday Inn on Pilsudskiego and it was on the street behind the hotel. It isn't far from the railway station and there is a market at the far end.
  16. I have just cancelled two rooms for Sat night only at the Novotel Cardiff City Centre if anyone wants to try them.
  17. We sat in Sektor 22 last year Row VIII Seat 62. This was the front row as the first seven rows were empty because you cannot see very well over the fence. We were also next to a section barrier and had to see over that as well. We could see okay but I think we will go further up this year and nearer to the bend.
  18. We stayed at the Comfort Osterport in 2003 - got a good price then for Copenhagen but do not know how much it is now. It is walkable (about 1 mile) to the stadium and right next to the railway line and station for trains direct to the airport, and the train ticket didn't cost much.
  19. My friend and I (female and not so young) will be making our sixth visit this year and try to make it easier each year. You can get a bus and then the underground from the airport to the city and it is very cheap but we usually fly in on a late plane because of work commitments and therefore use Athos Travel and book a taxi on the internet. It is about £ 28 return but they take you to the hotel and pick you up there. It is booked on the Internet but you pay when you get there and they meet you with a board. There are a lot of rip off taxis in Prague so if you use them it is best to ask a price. Obviously it works out cheaper if you can share. We have stayed in a few hotels but like the Mala Strana/Kampa area near Charles Bridge. The 22 tram to Bila Hora goes from there to the stadium (about 50p) so there is no need to go back into the city late at night. Have to buy a ticket from hotels/shops in advance and put it in the machine on the tram. The sights of Prague are all walkable from here and it is a beautiful city. Like most cities there are pickpockets but you just have to be careful and we feel quite safe walking around the city. Hope this helps ( we are on the 6 pm flight from EMA Friday night)
  20. Last year we took the airport bus from Gdansk airport to Gdansk Glowny and although we did not pay it took ages. We took a taxi back - much better and quite cheap. The person on the ticket desk told us the platform and next train for Bydgozscz but I suppose it is just your luck if they can speak English. The train was packed as it was the end of their holidays and we had to sit in the corridor (it is 160 km) so coming back we paid for first class - 45 Zl (about £7.50) - well worth it if it is busy. There are a few ticket booths on the station but as Gorgrel says - go into the main terminal building. Just wished we had spent a few hours in Gdansk as I understand it is a lovely city. Easy walking to the stadium but there are buses and taxis of course - our hotel gave us a map with bus/tram numbers.
  21. There is a strike threatened by BMI pilots for the Bank holiday weekend but it has been talked about for quite a while and I understand that BMI have made contingency plans if it goes ahead. Is it the flight from EMA ? We are going from EMA on Easyjet but unfortunately it doesn't go until later in the day but it was half the price.
  22. I have a map with the stadium on it - if you email your address I will photocopy it and put it in the post.
  23. Sorry Garf not there this time - not doing Scandinavia this year as it is not so easy to get to Eskilstuna or Malilla. Done Stockholm twice, Gothenburg, Copenhagen and Vojens. Will be at Cardiff, Prague and Bydgoszcz.
