  1. Why was it wrong for the BSPA Chairman to speak to Manchester City Council during the season? If other tracks were owed money from Belle Vue and reported this to the BSPA and advised that this was affecting their clubs cash flow and viability then the Chairman had a duty too investigate the extent of the problems which would include speaking to MCC and taking action regarding the unpaid bills which could have placed other clubs in jeopody
  2. Can we get back to Newcastle 2017 please. Was anything announced at the Dinner Dance?
  3. "Today's episode at Sheffield shows that a man in charge thinks that it was great, but the paying public were more than dis satisfied with lack of programmed riders appearing as they were injured or indisposed." Some riders have always skipped these type of meetings. It used to be a broken down van but I think this results in a fine now. These days a rider always seems to get 'injured' in their last race for their club before the event, or even 'practising' after the meeting or loading their bikes into their van. One rider who missed yesterday also missed last years Fours after hurting his bike loading his van after scoring a maximum as a guest the previous night The only way to deal with this is that any rider who misses a shared event for whatever reason, automatically has to miss the next fixture for his club and can only be replaced by a NL rider Riders complain about needing more backers and sponsors. Sponsors want to see riders taking part in prestige meetings and winning trophies. Who would want to sponsor a rider who has a habit of dropping out of big events. Imagine how the riders sponsors would feel arriving at the event of having arranged to go to the PLRC and they finding their sponsored rider doesn't turn up
  4. According to twitter Robert Lambert has withdrawn from the PLRC and is replaced by Oostergard Was he injured at Plymouth as he missed heat 15 as well? and will he be fit for Monday? SpeedwayGB ‏@SpeedwayGB 2h2 hours ago REIGNING PLRC Champ Ulrich Ostergaard will get the chance to defend his crown tomorrow after Rob Lambert was forced to withdraw.
  5. Not much information around about the Testimonial. I thought there might have been a seperate thread in the Testimonials section???
  6. The statement on Newcastle's website looks vey formal headed 'Statement from Illingworth' surely that should have been a more fiendly article thanking Darryl for his time and input to the Speedway.
  7. Newcastle's fixtures on their website seem to indicate a cut off around the 7th as they have (optimistically) the following reserved home fixtures Sun 13 September Play Offs Sun 20 September Play Offs Sun 27 September PLKOC FINAL Sun 4 October Play Off Final
  8. Newcastle Speedway pay for the website and it is an official website licenced with the BSPA. Any abusive remarks on the website would result in a fine for the promotion. Carl Wilkinson riding would not have put me off going, instead it would have made me expect a closer match than otherwise, many Berwick supporters may have travelled thinking they had a better chance of a result if it had been announced. If this was the first time it had happened then fair enough because someone was on holiday say but it is week after week we get the same lack of information What I am sick to death about is the repeated lack of information and contempt for supporters and last night was the final straw for me. The club could actually be making money from providing more information by advertising their sponsors of advertisers when they issue an update Hopefully the promotion will take this onboard and make sure it does not happen again and then we can all live happily ever after
  9. With 12 minutes to go to tapes up still no news on the diamonds website on the guests tonight or full teams. Last post on Friday says guests waiting to be confirmed. Sorry thats not good enough and I have decided to stay at home tonight to make a stand against being taken for granted
  10. Scunthorpe let down by their guest number one tonight - four rides 0 points
  11. Its a sad reflection on the state of speedway. Not long ago teams would be able to borrow a local junior and have up to eight to choose from who had turned up for an after meeting ride and would be desperate for their chance
  12. Out of interest, this Sunday is Father's Day. Is anything being promoted to use this as a way to increase the crowd.
  13. The PR from Newcastle Speedway now is very poor. It was at its best when Barry Wallace had a full page in the Football Pink every Saturday and we knew everything it seemed. When the Pink stopped being printed it has become so hard to find out what is happening. The advent of the internet should make it easier for the promotion to get information out. The website might look pretty and technical but its lacks regular information even in the lead up to matches. Newcastle United are just as bad at giving out information but the press have reports still trying to create stories about them. Speedway does not have that luxury and has to give the stories to the press. and display on their own websites. Many times I only remember that there is an away fixture by reading on this forum. A good example of a website that is well run and informative is www.nufc.com which is run not by newcastle united but by some supporters. The information on there is far superior to anything the football club does. I mentioned on a previous post about changing the race day to a Monday. After last night I realise this was be a nightmare. With all of the Elite League fixtures on a Monday and so many double uppers it would be guests every week. Surely the only solution to that is fixed race days with say Elite League Monday and Wednesday and Premier League any night but Monday or Wednesday
  14. This is the best team available within budget for a sunday track. Now that Peterborough ride sundays as well there are less riders to choose from who are free of other commitments such as Poland on Sundays. It has been suggested before that we return to Monday nights which would increase the number of riders available for a team place. In the past it has been said that we get better crowds on a sunday. As crowds are dropping on sundays and there are other attractions on a sunday at various times of the season -20/20 cricket, rugby league, football on tv, rugby union, ice hockey, family day out, metrocentre, x factor, strictly come dancing, etc then maybe it is time to think of changing race night back to a monday
  15. Do the required averages include bonus points? If not there is no way Aussie or USA riders are going to be team riding. Your team is on a 5-1 with the Aussie in second place as they enter the last bend, the Aussie goes to the front knocking his 'teammate' out of the way and allowing an opponent through for second place. Gonna happen every week as the visa riders fight to achieve the average they need for the next season
  16. Breaking news this evening http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-31380742 Eurovision Song Contest: Australia to compete in 2015 So Australia is now in Europe so no visas needed for Aussie riders
  17. Our local takeaway was raided by UKVI. They were employing two overseas students part time who had a visa to study in this country but not work. The takeaway owner was fined £10,000 as he was responsible for ensuring that his staff had the relevant documents to work.
  18. Having just read the Somerset thread, it is clear that newcastle are doing the right thing in waiting to see who Somerset let go
  19. There must be a witty response to Tsunami not being able to organise a Christmad Party in a bar! Be seriously new supporters club is dong a great job
