Before the Glasgow match George said We don't know if we will be racing Sunday or Monday next season
-
Can you please clarify. Has Alan pulled out or is he thinking about it. George said in SS 'At this moment it looks like Alan and Sapphire will not be involved next season' Is there something that supporters can do to assist Alan staying or is there possibility that if the right decisions are made at the AGM that Alan may stay involved.

Newcastle Doubble Header 22 October

Really hope that the Bears give Gavin Parr at least one ride. He has been around Newcastle speedway all of his life and he deserves the chance of riding in a competitive fixture at Brough Park even if it is for the wrong team -
General Running Costs ..

The big difference between clubs comes in stadium rental. Some clubs like Newcastle have to rent the stadium and get none of the bar or catering facilities. Others like Glasgow own the stadium and get all of the bar and catering profits -
Jack Holder And The (lack Of A) 9 Month Ban
toontrader replied to SCB's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Why do you think that. How long did it take for the SCB to ban Chris Holder. Surely they launch investigation, ask rider/promoter to respond within a set timescale and then issue a decision -
Yes, they are all volunteers. The only person paid is the track curator for his expertise and the importance of his work. Other than that, all officials, red flaggers, pits gate personnel, dog track sheeters, marshals, etc, are volunteers. Each job needs to have a minimum number of people, but you try and get more to cover absences for sickness, holidays, occasions.etc. We are required to have 4 red flaggers, but I started this year with six as if they all turn up it is easier for everyone. We have had some who have left but we continue to look for and find new recruits to train and replace them. Don't forget it is more than just turning up for the meeting. Airfence personnel and sheeters are there during the day, return for the meeting and then have to remove the sheets and drop the airfence for the track to be ready for the dog racing for the stadium management. We are still there till after 10.00pm most meetings. We can't get access during the week to work on the track, as the stadium hosts BAGS meeting during the day, and as the pictures are transmitted in particular to the Far East for betting, we can't be seen working there as it does not look professional when selling the rights to film. So early morning Sunday is our first chance to get the track ready for the evening meeting. NB British Afternoon Greyhound Service Further Edit. Forgot to mention the renumeration package. Free programme and free admission for them and a friend. Anybody interested in it come and see me at the meetings. So the unpaid volunteers 'earn' £35 a week ( admission x2 and a programme) Perhaps that is what caused the misunderstanding. This must be a huge cost to the promotion in addition to stadium hire, riders points and travel etc when there are so many 'friends' of volunteers getting in for free

Poole Pirates Vs Somerset Rebels 26/07/17

Irresponsible posts like this can affect the attendance and costs teams/promotions money. Newcastle banned a supporter for something similar a few years ago The moderators should issue a ban to this poster as a warning to all -

Polite version. In 2002 Newcastle were title contenders and just missed out. Watts performance at Stoke was regarded as being why we lost the title. All riders have bike problems or injuries which we accept. But Watts performance could not be accepted. At Exeter he was so bad that I recall Darryl Illingworth quit at the meeting and had to be stopped from quitting altogether by Tsunami, which would have meant the end of Newcastle Speedway. Since that season Watt has never been forgiven by the promotion, other members of the team that season, or supporters. He was never asked to guest for us or invited to any open meetings during the last 15 seasons. I cannot think of any other rider that has been blackballed by the Newcastle promotion like this. If he was ever booked as a guest or signed I would still not go to a meeting.
-
There is absolutely no chance whatsoever of Davey Watt ever being invited back to Newcastle after what happened in his last spell. Particularly Exeter.

Robert Lamberts racing calendar has him racing in Poland on the Sunday and has had for several weeks. The stadium work must have been planned for a few weeks! http://www.robertlambertracing.com/event-calendar/

Exactly. What a shame that the Newcastle promotion (including their representative on this forum Tsunami) forgot to share this with their supporters until they arrived on Sunday night. Only members of this forum were aware that he was in doubt. Anyone looking at the clubs website and twitter would have had no idea. The clubs promotion have done a great job keeping speedway at Newcastle but the public relations is abysmal

Great result for Stevie in the British Final, so close to being British Champion. Does that make him reserve for Cardiff and rule him out of the Pairs again?

So after the Newcastle meeting was called off around 7pm last night, one of our riders was able to arrange to ride in a meeting in Poland this afternoon. Arranging flights and gear to get there. Yes the same rider who couldn't get from Stansted to Newcastle in eleven hours for the British Semi Final. Robert Lambert Racing 55 mins · Start Gniezno v Speed Car Motor Lublin As the meeting at Newcastle got cancelled off, I was able to ride today in Gniezno for Lublin. In my first heat a rider took m off and O got excluded then I have got a third. Set up was not good. However, we have sorted that and I got three race wins followed by a third behind my team mate - makes 1️⃣1️⃣➕1️⃣. Unfortunately, the team lost with 57:33. Next meeting is on Wednesday at Kings Lynn. Just noticed from Robert Lamberts racing calendar 16 July TZ Ostrow Wlkp. v Km Cross Lublin so misses Newcastle v Workington -
and on the plus side they got a busload of Glasgow supporters plus a few more in cars and a bigger following from Newcastle because everyone knew the meeting would be ok, which more than covered the expense/free admissions
-
But surely that is five meetings already this season that Berwick have saved

Its a farce - Edinburgh fans missed out on Craig Cook when Workington visited now they miss out on Lambert and Worrall. The sport needs a complete shake up -

I never said that I wasn't a fan of Lambert. He is a great rider and will reach the SGP one day. But Newcastle need to strengthen at reserve so one of the top five would have to go. Prior to the Edinburgh match, Lambert was 4th in Newcastle's averages and has the biggest drop in average of anyone on the Newcastle team. I think he will be the next British rider to be able to challenge for the SGP title. It was great to see him last season at Newcastle but he has so many commitments now that his performances lack the consistency at Newcastle and if we are to be involved in the end of season playoffs then something has to happen. We have to choose watch a n exciting rider and win nothing or make changes to challenge for trophies As for his transport a quick look on trainline gave me those times. Speedway Star said he tried to book a flight to Glasgow! Surely if he had asked the Newcastle promotion for advice how to get there they would have told him to try the train -

toontrader replied to Mr Blobby's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Absolutely agree one of the top five has to go to allow us strengthen at reserve and Ruthless has not shown the same commitment as last season or indeed the efforts he has made for Kings Lynn this season. His performance at Redcar and last night (apart from heat 15) were shocking and his so called transport problems for the British Semi Final let everyone down at Newcastle - a train from Stanstead to Peterborough and then Peterborough to Newcastle takes less than four hours. Talk of the RAC and trying to get a flight to Glasgow by his team make him look silly. It will be interesting to see what the result of the SCB investigation is -
I have no inside knowledge merely trying to take an objective view. Perhaps some clubs AND RIDERS complained to the BSPA that they were owed money from Belle Vue. The BSPA ask Belle Vue when they will settle those bills and they respond 'we are waiting for compensation from the Council and then we will pay all of our debts' Rather than just accept those comments then perhaps the BSPA chairman sought to clarify from the Council that any compenstion would be enough to allow the Belle Vue promotion to settle their debts. As I say I have no inside knowledge just trying to piece together what happened and why those actions might have been taken. Yes the Chairman had a responsibilty to the Belle Vue promotion but also to the rest of the clubs some of whom could have faced severe financial difficulties if debts from Belle Vue were not settled. The result of which could have been even worse for speedway. Hopefully we will eventually find out the truth to this very sad story
