Bewley hasn't missed any opportunity to be National Champion to date, I think you may have meant Lambert

Tai and Lambo would be in the mix. A lot can happen on race day. -

I just picked a very recent player in that position to validate my point. There are countless players and sports people who don't ply their trade in their home country, so why single out speedway riders? It's a very weak argument, full stop. -

I disagree, he's having machinery problems at the moment. ALL riders go through 'poor' patches for whatever reason and most (not all) recover from them once they isolate the issue. Tai is still in the top 6 in the world champs. don't forget... Oh and well done Adam Ellis -

Whilst I do agree with what you say in principle, if you have any intentions of winning at world level you've got to go with your two best riders and that without doubt is Tai and Lambo. Bewley and Ellis both have many years ahead of them (assuming they stay serious injury free) and their time will come. -

The principle of your statement and my response is exactly the same, no matter what sport one is speaking about. -

So Jadon Sancho shouldn't have been picked for England during the time he played for Borussia Dortmund? Nonsense. If you're English you're English no matter where you ply your trade. -

He hasn't got anything to prove at all. The best British rider by far during the past 7 or 8 years. Although Lambo and Bewley (to a certain extent) are slowly catching him up. Just because he doesn't ride in the UK you have a hissy fit? The £££'s are in Poland so that's where he's based himself. It would be great to see him rider over here regularly, but he has decided that's not what he wants to do. What's the problem with that? -

Personal choice financial wise I guess. He also hasn't won the British final as of yet which is an incentive Tai and Robert don't have. -

Oh yeah, oops! Have edited accordingly And how do we know Tai and/or Robert were invited? Plenty of Poles don't do the Polish final each year. There would be about 50 riders competing in it if they all did it! -

I don't think it's a case of 'can't be bothered', it's more a financial (over the course of a season) decision now that he's based in Poland. In addition there are the current COVID travel restrictions which make travelling between Poland and the UK more difficult hence the lack of foreign riders currently riding in the UK. The situation is probably similar for Robert. -
A sizeable group of lads and I went to Eastbourne speedway during my stag weekend 10 years ago. Eastbourne were having a double header and we only had the time to stay for the first meeting. Bob Dugard (RIP) was stood at the gate and welcomed us in with open arms and allowed us to only pay 50% of the charge trusting us all to leave once the first meeting finished which we duly did. The place was rammed to the rafters! How times have changed.

There's definitely been a handful on each year in recent times, and as BT had the rights (until this year) then they must've been on BT Sport.

Eurosport have exactly the same Premiership contract that BT Sports had and are televising exactly the same number of Premiership meetings. However, they haven't got any rights to Championship matches which BT Sport used to televise in the breaks in between the Premiership meetings. Therefore we are getting less speedway meetings televised, but no less Premiership meetings (plus the British Final next Monday of course).
