  1. Think we lost it when Sky showed you kissing Mark's "lucky" £20 note!!!
  2. Would appear that the most moaning about the result is coming from everybody but us Aces fans. Proud of how we performed in the play-offs, great to see decent crowd levels - Roll on 2016. If, as they say, luck evens itself up, maybe it will be our turn next season.
  3. In sport, the Americans like the word momentum and I believe that the last three heats saw a momentum shift towards The Aces. Our riders are more than capable of winning at Wimborne Road and with Honest Ron as track curator, maybe Poole will suffer with track conditions not being to their liking. Gomolski has been scoring well for Poole and if he is suffering from his fall, the door might be open for us to take full advantage of. Hopefully the reserves will perform to their full capability tomorrow - if they do, we have a great chance.
  4. You never know. Just hope he manages to stay out of Nicki's way on Saturday. That said, neither of his two big crashes with Nicki have been Nicki's fault.
  5. They can count on my £20. Getting through to the final is a real financial bonus for The Aces and hopefully will make up for the cost of rain-offs this season and leave them with a few bob over. Winning the EL would be a fitting way to sign off from the dog track. Hope Matej returns and goes through the card at Kirky Lane and Wimborne Road.
  6. Would appear that Matej caused himself more problems: http://www.speedwaygb.co/news.php?extend.29575 Should not have ridden yesterday - we wouldn't be having these discussions had he not.
  7. For me, the continuing dilution of the product, combined with rising costs at the gate have been the main factors in people turning their back on the sport in the UK. There are also plenty of other sports in the UK competing for the leisure pound and speedway needs to be mindful of that. I don't know what goes on in Sweden, but speedway in the UK suffers from poor local (exception of Poole) and national marketing. From what I can see, the sport does very little to attract a new audience, relying on existing fans to take or leave what is on offer. Unfortunately, many have voted with their feet. I was in Gorzow for the recent GP and this is a speedway town. Club Shop in on of the major shopping malls, a sports bar on the banks of the river crammed full of speedway memorabilia, etc. I can't realistically see this happening at the Trafford Centre or in city centre Manchester, but the sport has to broaden its appeal. Maybe the impetus of the new stadium will do it for us at Belle Vue, but what about the other tracks? What I do know is that we could only dream of a Heat Leader trio of Tai, Emil and Bartek. In reality, any team would be happy with just one of these. But if one aspires to mediocrity, one will usually achieve it.
  8. All good stuff - Thankfully, at the moment anyway, we can only dream of Sweden's punitive taxation system. £12.80 per hour is good, but it is disposable income that matters, not pre-tax income. So do the average Swedes have more disposable income to spend on leisure than we do?
  9. Sure he will. He's a local lad, for an Aussie, living about 5 miles from the track. Yes, he's a Poole asset, but I'm sure that a Winners medal will mean more to him than who his "contract", whatever that means, is registered with.
  10. Enjoyed watching AJ in an Aces race jacket last night. From heat one, he was riding different lines to the rest. It reminded me of Crumpy in his pomp at Kirky Lane. Hopefully we can keep up our record of scoring 40 or more on the road as it would see us through to the final.
  11. Hope Matej doesn't read this nonsense. He is a human being and as such can have the odd off night. We all have the same in our work from time to time, I'd expect. He doesn't like riding at Leicester and like with all sports it's 90% in the head, so maybe he was beaten before he started. Many riders of yesteryear didn't fancy a trip to Somerton Park or the County Ground, so nothing has changed. I can't comment about his performances at Swindon, but it would have been very easy to throw a sickie, if he'd wanted to. Just a couple of bad evenings at the office, more likely. Others may question his commitment to BV - well I don't and hope to see him alongside Scotty in 2016 leading the Aces into our bright new future.
  12. In retrospect, taking an unknown Pole on at an average of 7.5, with Monmore Green as a home track was a real gamble and one that backfired. He looked very good at Kirky Lane though, which makes his performances at Monmore all the more surprising. The fall and fall of Super Slow Freedie couldn't have been predicted either.
  13. He might not be fit to ride in the GP, but decides to give it a go. After all it is his home GP and may come under pressure to do so. If by riding in the GP, he makes his medical condition worse, why should BV be the ones punished?
  14. AJ would be a great call. Really good around Kirky Lane and on most of the other three tracks.
  15. Thank you. Ladbrokes must know as they have put odds up on their site, but as ever, the fans are the last to know.
  16. Any news as to who is riding at No.6 for Wolves? Big crash last week vs Swindon
  17. They will fly in from Berlin, I'm flying in from a Polish Airport.
  18. Won't be back from the GP in time, so BV will have to survive without my patronage.
  19. But neither Lakeside nor Poole are competing with The Aces for a play-off spot, which I think is the critical factor at play.
  20. Raining really heavily to the West of M/cr. If this is heading to Kirky Lane, it will be off
