  1. Maybe we've been lucky at Belle Vue in recent years with our Aussies, Jason Lyons, Jason Crump and Max Fricke. Certainly my spectator experience would have been a lot worse without these three. Not the slightest bit of bother from any and one so loyal to the club that he is still affectionately known as Mr. Belle Vue and perhaps Mr. Birmingham too. It's a great shame that we never got to see Crumpy at the NSS - now that would have been an awesome sight. We also have a wonderful Aussie manager in Mark Lemon who does a lot for the club and speedway in general, having been a loyal servant to many clubs over the years. Not all Aussies are of the same character, or temperament, I know, but it would be really stupid to throw the baby out with the bath water. Just my opinion.
  2. As BWD got a paid max on his only visit to the NSS this year, I'd doubt if they'd pull the same stroke.
  3. Just the one rider, Richard Lawson, in the team from their last visit less than a week ago! British Speedway - don't you just love it.
  4. Think City vs Everton will have the biggest impact on the gate. Travel to BV for a 7:30 start is a bit of a nightmare with City game at 8 - looking at alternative routes for tonight.
  5. I had arranged a holiday, making sure that I wouldn't miss any home meetings. Then they re-arrange a fixture whilst I'm away, so apologies for my enforced absence - wonder how many other regulars were missing for the same reason?
  6. Wouldn't have changed Mr. Lyons one iota, for sure.
  7. Should make it in time from Salford, depending on where exactly you are in the People's Republic. I would avoid the A6 like the plague. Best way is down Regent Road and straight onto the Mancunian Way.
  8. Pretty close to time usually - unless there are queues to get in, then they do run late.
  9. Looks like in riding order to me and no Kurtz. http://www.poolepirates.co/news/2017-07-24_next-action-poole-v-somerset-26-july.html But could well be an alphabetic coincidence!!
  10. No. The same thing happens at Old Trafford when the team who has a divine right to win, loses. Well, Poole is the Man Ure of speedway, after all.
  11. Pleased to hear that Howarth is only concussed. Does this automatically rule him out of next Monday's meeting at Belle Vue?
  12. For this meeting, the watering of the track would have been, in the main, through natural means, as we had a lot of rain all of Thursday and most of Friday morning. Maybe the shale needs to be pulled back from the outside more than once every four races?
  13. Thumbs-up to him then for giving it a go!!
  14. Miraculous recovery from a wrist injury. Maybe the medics should check him over?
  15. Think you'll find Tungate on the other side of the pits with an Aces race jacket on.
  16. Yes - one and the same. Glad to see him go for other reasons - as boring as!!
  17. Not even a modern day thing. Remember a BV meeting at Bradford when there was literally only one line. Chris Manchester, who hated Odsal, had run three lasts and then outgated the unbeaten Sean Wilson, who unsurprisingly couldn't pass. An utter borefest loved by the Bradford faithful. Don't pretend to have any of the answers, but it does appear to be getting worse.
  18. But BV had no management to sponsor his application, which could have caused the problem.
  19. Heard that his application was a tad late in being submitted.
  20. http://www.manchester.gov.uk/webcasts Council webcast - all that's missing is Shami Chakrabati and the whitewash.
  21. Not just that. You can be team mates in Sweden on a Tuesday and rivals in the UK on a Wednesday
