  1. If this is the case, one would expect that somewhere within the minutes of meetings held by the BSPA there will be a specific annotation appointing Go Speed with the responsibilty of selling the TV rights to speedway in return for a finders fee. What I find difficult to comprehend is that if Terry was a member of the BSPA, why would he not do the work on behalf of the organisation, as opposed to on behalf of a company of which he was a director? You mention that several people had tried and failed to sell the rights - care to put some names to the people? I do share your opinion that his fellow promoters haven't capitalised on the opportunity, but there are other threads that go into this. One thing is for sure is that diluting the product whilst increasing prices is a certain recipie for failure, especially when money is tight. 2. So Terry had an official role within the BSPA at the time, did he? If so, he surely should have been working on behalf of the BSPA during the negotiations and not on behalf of his company. The phrase "conflict of interests" springs to mind.
  3. Having watched Craig Cook all year at BV, he's more than ready. Would love to see him as a fulll BV asset along with young Max Fricke. 3rd place in the ELRC just proves the point. Congrats to Rory on his wini the ELRC, even though he is a Stretfordian.
  4. There's quite a few of us on here who like the odd bet on the EL. I don't know what the cumulative take is by the bookies from the live meetings in isolation, but perhaps an approach to the likes of Bet 365 or Bet Victor might be in order. If betting on live meetings is profitable, they might wish to protect that revenue stream? Skybet must have been one of the only bookmaking sponsors not to offer day to day odds on the league they were sponsoring and if Sky doesn't renew does the Skybet "sponsorship" disappear too? If you could get the likes of Bet 365 to sponsor the broadcasts, maybe BT or even Eurosport would be interested in showing it?
  5. Too true - one thing travels faster than good news and that's bad news
  6. Thanks for the heads up on that. It will be interesting to see what Sky comes up with to compete against the World Cup. Clutching at straws somewhat, but speedway might be a good option for sky as the fanbase is pretty loyal. Would be interesting to learn what the viewing figures were for yesterday evening, going head to head with the England match.
  7. But there will be a lot of football in June/July next year, with the World Cup in Brasil. Don't know what, if any, packages sky have the rights to broadcast, but there will certainly be no void, well not one of 2.5 hours on a Monday evening, to concern them as a result of there being no speedway contract. As a speedway fan, I will always go to Belle Vue and watch Sky meetings later anyway, but will miss coverage when there are no clashes. I do hope that the sport can be sold to BT, as the cupboard is pretty bare IMHO as regards their sports offerings. I only watch the odd football game and as I believe that rugby should be played with 13 men on the field, am not interested in their flagship rugby offering.
  8. Didn't realise that - A shame really, as when I'd watched him at Belle Vue, he'd done pretty well.
  9. Apparently Poole are unchanged from last Monday. Bad "illness" Dyer has.
  10. So why post exactly the same on the Unofficial Aces site during the meeting? Personally, I wouldn't have been surprised that much if Matej (and Zorro for that matter) had fallen down with an "illness" akin to the one which stopped Dyer riding for Poole on Monday and BV would have gone with the locally based Bomber for both P'Boro and Eastbourne meetings. But Matej, once again, displayed his commitment to our club and I'm sure he wouldn't have been too impressed had he read your postings on both here and the Unofficial Aces site.
  11. You're not seriously suggesting that Matej deliberately fell in Heat One, then came out and won the re-run and had to withdraw through injury all to miss the ELRC? Rather far fetched don't you think? Matej has been excellent all season and along with Cookie has given his all in every meeting, so to slag him off now is a pretty cheap shot.
  12. Dancing sure is toning Susanna's legs - now who that guy with the bike?
  13. And if you find it, I think we'd all be interested to find out where it's been hiding for the past decade!!
  14. Tai came over well. I was pleasantly surprised by how long the interview went on for. Will it add more to the terraces - I doubt it, but our well oiled publicity and promotion machine should be using today as a platform to build on. Problem is, I can't see that happening either.
  15. Don't listen to Talk sh*te, but from what you're saying it's living up to the name us Chelsea fans have given it.
  16. And had he signed for Wolves, it would have been "the best track, the best racing, the best stadium for speedway and the best fans in the UK". As I tell my Man Ure supporting friends who spout the same rubbish - eat sh*t, a million flies can't be wrong.
  17. Poole has to hope that Josh has a good one tonight. If he is off form, the pirate ship could sink. When running R/R for one of the lower order riders, you a vulnerable, in particular when one of your reserves is, in theory, a weak link. No guarantee that THJ will win his R/R ride either.
  18. If you're heading down Naples way, we could always reflect on the season!!!
  19. And now no Tungate either. Poole might be stretched.
  20. Q & A feature with Tai in the Daily Telegraph Sport Monthly. Hopefully all the press will report we have a British World Champion tomorrow.
  21. Nearly choked on my porridge when I heard it. Wonder if some of the great work the likes of BBC Cambridgeshire & West Midlands do with their local teams is filtering through? I doubt it personally, but you never know.
  22. Couldn't have been much more public, as the crash was shown on Eurosport c/w Hans' comments!!
  23. There may be a good reason why, but I'm surprised that Wolves haven't asked Matej Zagar to guest for Tai. 4 wins and a second place on his visit to B'Ham with The Aces earlier this year from the number one position and was in excellent form at the Stockholm GP.
  24. It could be a rider who challenges - like Bosman did in the football world. I'm sure that a self-employed person, like a speedway rider, would win the case.
