  1. Why? It's a foregone conclusion that Labour will remain in power. In many constituences in M/Cr, you could put a monkey up as a Labour candidate and it would get elected. In fact it would most probably do a better job than most of them, especially Brother Karney the commisar for the City Centre.
  2. Only to find that New Liebour beat him to it.
  3. Well maybe he's a Scouser, as he seems to follow Liverpool? On the Irony!!
  4. Didn't know Swindon was in Wales. He might be of Welsh descent, but I'm pretty sure he was born in Swindon. Mind you, the Aussie Crump is a Bristolian by birth and the Englishman Loram was born in Malta.
  5. Locally, Hyde Road, The Shay and Rochdale. Further afield, Reading, Oxford and Milton Keynes
  6. No - it's far better to lose a race to qualify for a golden double!!
  7. We have our full quota of double up riders at Belle Vue, so no chance of Birks joining us
  8. If Orient succeed with the ground share deal with WHU at the olympic stadium, it might present a start point. Taking the GP back to London might provide a start point. On revenue share, basically it's no different in principle to what the BSPA has in place with Go Speed for TV rights negotiation.
  9. Unless invited by the BSPA to promote the sport on a revenue share deal.
  10. Well, the answer is in your question - it's the "p" word. If Barry Hearn was involved in speedway, you could be assured that the sport would be promoted in the true sense of the word. Instead, we have to satisfy ourselves with the BSPA, masters of promoting self-interest. No way would the BSPA cede their power to an outsider.
  11. Let's bring back Gordon Brown - that would solve all our problems!! No more boom/boost, yeh right. Want some gold? Buy ours at rock bottom prices. Need a pension? don't worry, we'll rob from all your pension funds. If that's the answer then it's a damn stupid question. If you think The Express talks sh1te, then try reading The Guardian or The Independent for a true definition of the word. Oh and I hope Jason gets his permit sorted out, maybe the local MP Keith "welcome to the UK" Vaz can help?
  12. Delighted for Panthers fans and really pleased to see Ulrich fixed up with a team.
  13. Garrity was sold by BV to Rye House, hence the reason he's riding for Coventry in 2014. Bees had first pick and chose wisely.
  14. I would go for Mark1 - he has more tactical appreciation than Jason and Morton put together and more importantly, I'm sure he'd do it for free!!
  15. Three signings - three Brits and three out and out racers. Really looking forward to next season. Hope to see Matej back at No. 1
  16. As many of us pointed out last year and the year before and the year before that, there is a simple equation for what has happened and continues to happen to what is, or rather should be a great sport: Lower standards + increased admission charges = reduced crowds Unless promoters reduce their admission charges to reflect the dilution of the product, we will all be sat here again next year wondering why speedway in the UK is going down the pan.
  17. Spot on - it's a real pain when I get back home to find say three editions of The Star waiting for me with another in the post. Invariably, I don't ending reading them all, but an on-line version of a magazine I've subscribed to would be most welcome and would get read.
  18. For a variety of reasons. But for anyone living overseas, an on-line version takes away the cost of distribution and the time lag. Nowadays some people prefer to download and read on the go, e.g. Kindle users. Not my cup of tea, but very popular nonetheless. Having an on-linr presence also demonstartes that the magazine is in the 21st century and if it can be readily accessed, can also be readily ordered. Do you need any more?
  19. Philip, I have a subscription to the Speedway Star, but do spend a fair bit of time out of the country and it would be great to be able to access the magazine on-line, whilst away. Will you be making the on-line version available to existing subscribers of the paper-based product? After all, what we have paid for is the Star and I would hope that it would/could include the on-line format as well.
  20. What I never understood was why we didn't buy Cookie when he was being sold by Workington. Would be really good to have him back next season, no matter what the league composition is.
  21. I think Go-Speed Limited went into liquidation on 7 June 2010 but Go Speed International Limited is still trading. The accounts of Go-Speed Limited at the time of liquidation make interesting reading.
  22. Hopefully, someone (Philip?) can provide us with definitive facts. It's just that I feel that it's the norm for people serving on committees to work on behalf of the committee and not for the benefit of themselves, or companies that they are directors of. No doubt something was agreed to, otherwise you would have heard something from the promoters. I don't have a problem with Go Speed earning commissions from the deal, it's just the morality of the situation that I'm questioning.
