  1. To me a smaller track or one with a different shape presents challenges which skilled riders master. Wide open full throttle start to finish is quite easy to ride, depending on the surface of course and although that doesn't make winning easier because of course there are still four riders, it does make the performance of the bike and weight of the rider have more significance.
  2. Yep, with my daughter and her friend. Looking forward to it - hopefully not near any moaning minnies
  3. Awful guests for Ipswich, wonder who picked them - hope Heeps soon recovers.
  4. Ooh that wasn't there on my phone, unless it was really small/disguised. My TV does not have a browser, hence casting from phone.
  5. Hi, Although the quality of the picture sound was good, the one thing which I couldn't work out was how to fast forward. I was watching the Oxford vs Poole match on replay (£6.99), casting to my TV from my phone and would like to have been able to either double tap to FF in 10 second increments like you can with YouTube or accurately move the scroll line at the bottom to FF, rather than have to sit through parts I was less interested in. Is there a way to do this when watching on replay?
  6. I don't know the track that well down there but what I meant was that at Ipswich they water it in the days leading up to a meeting so the underneath stays moist, just guessing really
  7. I thought Rowe in particular was disappointing - this is a rider that was getting double figures at number two isn't it? What's happened?
  8. I guess not much water went down, a bumper crowd expected and wanted to make sure it was on, although if your team can gate then why not make it like that! I bought the stream and had all sorts of problems for the first 15 minutes but found stream 3 and player B to be a combination that worked. Remember it's not how you start it's how you finish
  9. Similar to your experience Steve I lost a friend whilst playing badminton with him, just collapsed and that was that - he was 43. All reinforces the adage to live your life today. Nigel was part of the speedway furniture, such a sad loss.
  10. Sorry to hear about your wife. With that tale of the obstacles to entry, that sounds like you should have a blue badge also.
  11. Mainly either home straight stand at the 4th bend end (before the stadium was like it is now of course) or standing on the 2nd bend. In those days it was John Davis/Henka/Loram/Kevin Brice/Tom Grinstead and the likes
  12. I used to enjoy Mike Bennett on the mic in years gone by. On the point about leaving, this seem to be the case everywhere now - I don't know if people have a fear of being held up by what, 10 minutes maybe but it is the same at Foxhall where crowds gather at the exit gate ready to sprint away after the first lap of heat 15. I wait until it's finished and drive out no trouble, ok there may be a slight queue for 5 minutes. This is the same whether the meeting finishes at 9.20 or 9.50 so cannot relate to them 'having an appointment to make'. Human behaviour is sometimes puzzling.
  13. Fopr me, Allen doesn't have the right technique to become a higher level rider. Sits on the seat too much backing it into a corner. Will be ok as a league rider though, particularly on the easier bigger tracks.
  14. Top four using guesses for the teams yet to announce their full side: Ipswich Sheffield Belle Vue Peterborough
  15. I think Ipswich have a good team for next season - Batchelor excepted. I've never like riders who give up if they haven't gated in front, this is why I also dislike Cook as well. I've always liked Heeps, a trier and able to pass people and Doyle & King make a solid top two.
  16. Wasn't much use at Foxhall this year though so moving on makes sense.
  17. Maybe the link being both run by Courtney's? Their Dad Mark was Harris's mechanic for some time wasn't he?
  18. Agree with the last bit in brackets. Spending lots of money on all new stuff every year is completely unnecessary. A new van every year is also unnecessary. There are so many costs to clubs and riders that can be cut. A 10mm bolt will last for years but many will have all new every year because they're shinier - totally unnecessary. Four helmets a meeting in each colour, totally unnecessary - did anyone see how many Emil S had accumulated?
  19. Hi, I think Kemp will stay at Ipswich. He is involved in upcoming promotional activity with the Witches which although in itself doesn't mean that, it is an indicator to me.
  20. Ok, riders I would not be excited by if signed: Troy Batchelor; Craig Cook; Lewis Kerr; Jake Allen; Nick Morris; Jack Holder; Lewis Bridger; Charles Wright Just my opinion obviously.
  21. I'd heard he was offered a better deal with Poole so chose to move, not 'released by Plymouth' in the way you've put it. Same result though.
  22. The higher level riders score more points in the Championship than the Premiership - look at the averages to see that. So overall costs would be too high if they paid the same in Championship for the seven riders as a whole.
  23. Ulrich could have got there by the end of the season
  24. I think there will be more than six clubs in the top flight next season and I'll await the rabbits out of hats they produce each AGM.......
