  1. I think we can all see the difference surely?
  2. I remember those days too. Kevin Brice battling for two points so was also entertaining! Mike Bennett was a good presenter as well.
  3. Nonsense. It's a percentage increase - so the actual amount is much less if what the percentage is based on is less.
  4. I've not been to Leicester but remember seeing some meeting DVDs which had some great races - Scott and Danny King had some battles I remember. So not necessarily the track always but the calibre/skill of the rider.
  5. Or I've simply mis-read it but the RS list will make interesting reading again!
  6. So it's now 6 rider teams in the Premiership. Their announcement says it includes a Rising Star, not plus a rising star. So, will the heat format be changing?
  7. This is what I don't like - riders thinking they can demand Poland money for riding here which then threatens the very existence of clubs. British speedway does not have the same budgets or income. I'd tell him this is all we can afford, like it or don't bother.
  8. I'm thinking bias here. You were saying the best sides needed decent heat leaders. I pointed out a decent side who could've finished top of the league but who didn't have much beyond Doyle but you are arguing against that for some reason??? You said they didn't win anything - they did with more than just three riders but there you go again. It may not suit your agenda but it remains a fact that Ipswich were a good side.
  9. Ipswich were a good side this season but only had Doyle firing each meeting.
  10. Anyway who has been watching the Polish league will know that Musielak is the signing of the league. He should easily average over 8 points 6 Dornier, Steve0, noggin and 3 others reacted to this I think this was one of the posts I remember but you're right Spin King in that he improved and this is what most title winners will have in their teams, improvers. The performances at home and away are also important though because an improved average could just reflect home increase rather than overall which may benefit a team more - this is why stats are never simple. What I was reflecting on was the difference between expectation based on Poland and what happens here in reality - particularly why someone like Dudek would be a risk. Michelsen on a 6pt average would be very good value, good starter too.
  11. Basso was not great away from Peterborough so wouldn't be a decent No.5, although he has plenty of potential to improve. Attitude alone is the reason I wouldn't have either Batch, Craig Cook or Ben Barker but that's my personal preference. Riss is an odd one as he is also very inconsistent, if you're lucky you get 10 points, if not 2 points. Maybe Nicki P would fancy a swan song in the UK
  12. That's right regarding too many newcomers. Frtom memeory before this season everyone was saying that Musielak would be wiping the floor with everyone but it didn't happen and he's had time over here before. With Dudek I don't see that he'd pull up too many trees and would be asking for a lot of dosh. I quite like Mike Bacon's side but wouldn't have Ellis and King in the same side, too inconsistent.
  13. Don't think that team would be all that successful.
  14. If you mean the effect at the back wheel then that presents another issue to adapt to as we could see unintentional 'laying it down' mid-bend. As long as it's able to be progressive it should be possible for a rider to adapt. How the back wheel reacts to the track surface is critical for the rider to be able to control, to remain in control.
  15. Judging from the trial that the clip showed, yes, I don't think they'd wheelspin as quick and may lift more.
  16. I think track surface would need to change. I don't see the bikes having enough flexibility to cope with rapid change of direction with greater wheelspin or the straight-lining if hitting a grippy patch. They could work well on a smooth/hard surface.
  17. October is not normally so wet so not sure why people expect it to be? The point I was making is that at other tracks, they pack it down really firm, the water mostly runs off down the drains on the inside and then when it's a dry day, dry material can be placed on top. I saw Buster totally relay the track at Lynn from a total quagmire to raceable in 2 hours back in the 90s, well before the new clay surface. You just need the right tools and, wait for it, the right setup
  18. A totally dry day in Leicester and they can't prepare a track that'll be ready. They need to be better prepared in the future. Tomorrow is different, heavy rain forecast right at the wrong time, 6pm.
  19. Too much variation for that to be a factor plus also the heaviness/frequency/time of day is important. Heavy rain on a Tuesday every week in October compared to lighter rain every day in April would still give similar rainfall figures but you'd get more meetings run in October.
  20. Occasionally maybe but I saw him have good meetings there, getting the fastest time and beating AJ as well. He's a 'mood' rider, which makes him less than reliable.
