  1. Agree with yearby, Newman had 3 efs but Kus also struggled and Wilko fll with an engine problem so maybe evened it up. Thought our top two were superb, have been claims we lack top end strength and I have to admit thought Doyle would be untroubled but summers and Ulrich both outstanding. Heat 15 was worth the money alone, and best heat I have seen at Redcar for a long long time. To quote tony millard, could have thrown a blanket over all four riders. Great stuff.
  2. Delighted to see Danny Phillips do so well, has looked pretty much untouchable at STMP in second halves for a while now (only Luke Crang really challenges him). Interesting to see how he does on Thursday riding for Redcar against Dudley.
  3. Was definitely a bit dusty early on, but racing surface was smooth and allowed the riders to attack the track from the start. Certainly not the case in recent weeks. Hopefully we have put all that behind us now. As you say - not a massive amount of passing but good, close racing. Was good to see. Think the signs are that we could have a pretty decent season - top of the league but never really had all 7 riders firing at the same time. If that happens, things could be promising.
  4. Agree with rr. Ostergaard gave his best home showing this year, whilst dyer again was excellent. A delight to watch him every week. Skidmores last couple of rides also excellent. Felt a bit sorry for summers, looked very quick all night, but unlucky to face Procter 3 times. Procter was superb, would pay money to watch him every week. Ably supported by lemon. Very disappointed with Kurtz though - expected more from him. Gathercole blew hot and cold, and Anderson did decent enough. Thought the result was never really in doubt but a satisfying result considering Kus had poor night and had 2 riders returning from injury. Track looked better too, wonder if cvs being in attendance had anything to do with that....
  5. Luke Crang is absolutely flying this season. Him and Dan Phillips have looked very good up at Redcar, real shame there isnt a northern NL club for these guys to get regular racing.
  6. All the best to Mitchell. As said above, did a very solid job for us and glad to see him fixed up somewhere.
  7. To be fair to dyer he fell on first bend after being forced very wide, classic first bend bunching but for whatever reason ref allowed it to continue.
  8. Impressed with Garrity and Nelson last night, both looked very quick and really attacked the track. GReat to see the Kus of old returning. Have to admit thought he had rode his last meeting for us but turn round has been superb. Dyer again looked excellent. Not sure i agree with the heat 10 declaration either, although i never thought we were in danger of losing the meeting. Seemed a bit strange to call it when they did. Rain had pretty much stopped and whilst the track was far from perfect there did not appear to be any serious issues. Then again, i was not on the track rider safety has to be priority. Would also like to add my thanks to Mitchell Davey. Was a bit underwhelmed with his signing, but he impressed me once he got going. Picked up some decent points and always looked on the pace with decent kit. Hope he gets picked up by someone.
  9. Just to echo Mr M, been steady drizzle in center of middlesbrough for a while - but not enough to even create puddles. Dare I say it could even make for a decent racing surface? Last rainfall radar I seen, we were about half way through the rain band so fingers crossed for nothing heavier!
  10. Been a bit of drizzle so far but nothing substancial. Going from forecasts heavier stuff is coming our way - fingers crossed it can avoid us!
  11. Probably being very naive here, but am hoping the charade of the last few weeks will not be repeated!
  12. No rain so far - although it appears to be forecast for this afternoon.
  13. Sadly it was the best of the season - certainly the smoothest after the grading. Riders have struggled with the first bend at times this season, and whilst it was rarely used there was an outside line for those that went for it - especially Dyer. Think we probably missed a trick not giving Dyer extra rides - Skidmore was clearly struggling and whilst Davey was on the pace and battling hard you fancy Dyer would have scored more points.
  14. Not sure what time track prep started, but was shocked at state of track when I arrived. Had been no rain since three. That being said, although it took a while the track guys did a good job and was argubly the best it's been this season. Big talking point was the summers/Worrall incident. First thing I would say is that from my angle I thought it was a racing incident. Summers got a lot of speed coming off turn four and maybe took Worrall a bit by surprise by overtaking just before entrance to turn one. I have to say though, from my angle looked like summers did not really give Worrall a great deal of room - on first viewing I thought summers was at fault. I did seem to be in a fairly small minority though. Glad to see both riders up and relatively unharmed. Thought the bears were good value tonight. Ulrich looked more like a number one, although got away with what appeared to be a flyer in one heat. Skidmore looked off the pace, but looked to still be feels effects of his fall on Saturday. Great too see Kus get a few heat wins, and another good performance from Aaron. Dyer was again excellent and Davey battled very hard for his points. For newcastle, Robson was excellent and gave it his all. Henry was very up and down, but Iudvig was very impressive again. Said this last time, but very impressed again with Kerr - Leicester must be kicking themselves. Who knows the score if Ritchie had been able to ride - but good to get a win over a very strong side.
  15. Cleveland Police have now said the road is open. Not sure if any lane restrictions but traffic seems to be flowing fine. Weather has brightened up a touch too - been no drizzle for the last hour or so, fingeres crossed its all systems go.
  16. Y Yep, incident happened around 11am this morning, police said they aimed to have it clear in 4 hours. Actually overlook the A66 from where I work so will try and keep you updated on that as well.
  17. Been a steady drizzle in the centre of boro for the last hour or so. Forecast yo pass us by shortly soon though so should hopefully be on - in fact the water could be good for track
  18. Would expect the Bears to run the Diamonds alot closer - could go either way really although my head says a narrow diamonds win. One thing is for certain, we need to start meetings a lot better than we have been! As exciting as it's been, we cant do that every week!
  19. Incredible comeback, after 7 heats it looked all over. Bears were riding like novices, and whilst Berwick had commanding lead they had not had to ride particularly well. Second half of meeting was superb from the bears. Probably the best and most aggressive I have seen summers ride. Thoroughly deserved maximum. Dyer was again superb, so lucky to have him. Skidmore also gave great support, although disappointed in wilkinson. For Berwick, aspegren was the stand out rider. Smith gave good support, but not much else there. Was an exciting meeting, although racing was not great - track was poor again.
  20. As with most meetings at Redcar, could go either way. Fancy us to nick it mind, good end to the meeting against Worky and great result at Berwick should give us a real boost. Dyer should again be the trump card at reserve whilst Summers has steadily improved. Need points from Ulrich and Kus (brand new engine for tonight) and that should hopefully see us through. Ashworth has had decent meetings here in the past, as has Smith. Hoping for a good, safe meeting and Bears to sneak through.
  21. Final score Redcar 18 - 5 Workington H1 - Crang, mcphail, neale F, Keay n/s - 3-2, 3-2 H2 - Crang, Phillips, McDonald, neale r - 5-1, 8-3 H3 - Crang, Phillips, mcphail, McDonald - 5-1, 13-4 H4 - Phillips, Crang, mcphail, McDonald - 5-1, 18-5 Keay - n/s Crang - 11+1 Phillips - 7+2 Mcphail - 4 Neale - 0 McDonald - 1
  22. Howarth was certainly trying tonight, although have to admit I was slightly disappointed. Can't fault him for effort though.
  23. Fantastic turnaround - after heat 13 thought it was all over. Skidmore, Summers and Dyer were fantastic. Skidmores ride in heat 15 was absolutely superb. Dyer is a real trump card at reserve and would have had at least another 2 points without his fall. not the greatest racing again, but the track was much better than last week. For works, Bach was the standout. Looked very very quick and made one of the only genuine overtakes. The rest was a bit of a mixed bunch. Lawson, Harrison and Aarnio all had very good rides and some not so good rides. For the bears, I think we have seen the last of Kus. Confidence has clearly gone, and his walk round the fans after the meeting shaking everyone's hand smacked of a goodbye. Real shame as on his day a great rider and seems a great lad and I wish him all the best.
  24. Still dry (about 1.5 miles from track) - grey and cold but no rain. stays like this and we should be fine. Looking forward to a close one - Kus spent yesterday practicing at the track with Davey so hopefully ironed out any gremlins he had.
