Witches V Bears Pl Wed 21-5-14
boz replied to Super Blue's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Track looks good from the pics on facebook, and not rained for a couple of hours now. If weather stays like this should be fine, need to avoid too much more rain though as erimus says. Fancy a Bears win if it goes ahead. Lawson is in great form, and we have done fairly well at home so far. Graversen at reserve will again be the key, been excellent so far this season for us. Can see him getting 6 or 7 rides again tonight. Always interesting to see Richie Worrall at the STMP! -

Young Leon Flint looked superb tonight.

Was a decent meeting in the end - only really one line which was right up by the fence but still produced some decent racing and both sides were well up for it. Wilko was excellent, when he rides like that is worth the entrance money imo. Well backed up by Graversen (wasn't sure when we signed him but making me eat my words!), Lawson and Summers. Think Rafal is trying a bit too hard at the moment, looks decent enough but falling in points scoring positions. Am slightly worried about Crang though - started off the season decently but seems to have gone backwards. For Berwick, Matej was excellent when he gated. Jensen was very good value, although upset a few when he took Graversen off in heat 14. Wilkinson took exception to his line in heat 15 as well although from my viewpoint he didn't do too much wrong. Bellego is excellent to watch as well, another rider you would pay to watch. Very quick time in heat 1 as well (Boothers will probably correct me, but I think equalled the PL track record).

Redcar Bears V Somerset Rebels - 1/5 - Pl
boz replied to boz's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Ricky Wells will guest for the Rebels. -
Should be another close one at the STMP, looking forward to it! Intrigued to see Brady Kurtz and how he gets on. Hoping that Konopka can keep his improvement going, looked quick last week. I'm guessing that Nick Morris will be riding for Swindon? Any idea on who will be guesting for the Rebels if that is the case. Going for another close win for the Bears.

I thought tonight was a great meeting and full credit to Glasgow for playing their part. Some really good racing - was surprised to see Wolbert only scored 4. Seemed fairly quick, but just couldnt gate. Very impressed with Berge. Very quick, a little bit wild but the kind of rider you pay your money to watch. Kasper Lykke looked good too. Delighted to see Konopka get his first heat win - and a comfortable win it was at that over Berge. Seemed to lift his confidence massively, and made a great pass on Harrison on his next heat. Most of the Bears had at least 1 good ride - Aaron looked very good. Very entertained tonight though.

Great to see another NJL prospect get a chance a NL level. Stefan has made great progress over the last year.

Can't see us being as bad as we were last week, and Lawson back certainly strengthens us. Can't see Skidmore having as bad a meeting again either, so would be hoping for fairly comfortable win. Weather is good at the moment, and no more rain is forecast sho should be ok!

Redcar Vs Sheffield 18/4/14
boz replied to mrmiddlesbrough's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Agree with all of that. Doolan did okay for his 7 but you fancy Lawson to have scored double that. No excuses though, Sheffield fully deserved that. Outgated the Bears all night, and thought young Bates was superb. Massively disappointing though. Skidmore went from 13+1 one week to 0. Maybe feeling the effects of his fall last night? Feel sorry for Konopka. Tries his heart out, but just can't gate. We have effectively replaced Kozza Smith with a complete novice. -
Pleased with a point which should hopefully see us over the line - bit disappointing to let a 6 point lead go though. Would have took the point at the start though so can't be too unhappy!
-
Really not sure what the outcome of tonight will be. Not sure what Lawson is like around Sheffield, but is in excellent form at the moment. Would fancy Skiddy to get a few points as well. Would be happy to sneak a point i think tonight. Doolan for Lawson weakens us in the home leg but fancy that the rest of the team can pick up the slack.

Means the Bears will lose Lawson for the second home meeting on the trot! -
Redcar V Newcastle (lc) Thursday 10th April
boz replied to northyorksbear's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Really impressive showing by the Bears, although an equally poor show from Newcastle I thought. Once again, the track was decent. Presentation good with Roy, and did not take long at all to replace air fence panel. Lawson was imperious - his pass off Robson one of the best I have seen at SMTP. Summers equally as good I thought, and Skidmore had a great meeting. Jan really impressed me too. Was gating well but riding hard and made some good passes. Was not sure about his signing but making me eat my words. Disappointed with Rosen, Kerr and Lindgren though. All have went well here in the past but were poor tonight. Schramm battled hard and Henry as always rode well. -
I agree completely. A bit of a comedy first heat, but was very much on the pace after that. Needs to improve his gating, but definitely has some ability.

Rafal Konopka comes in for the 30 days, a 22 year old Pole who comes recommended by Adam Skornicki. -

The track was excellent last week, imo the best it has been for years so fingers crossed will be like that again. As said, should be a really close meeting. Lindgren was superb here last year, and most of the Diamonds go well here. Bears win, but not by much. -
Redcar Bear V Scunthorpe Scorpions Lc 3/4/14
boz replied to montie's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
First of all, hope Anders Mellgren is ok, seemed to take a nasty fall and he sounded in an awful lot of pain. But I thought Redcar were excellent tonight. Lawson was just absolutely superb. Gated well, and even before he got to the first bend was looking for his teammate every time. Summers was laos superb, did well in his last two rides to let Lawson sneak through for win. Biggest plus for me were the 2 reserves. Graversen had a great night, and rode pretty hard as well - whilst I thought Crang had an excellent home debut. Was slightly disappointed in Scunthorpe, and think Douglas must have ridden over many black cats on his way to the track. Didnt have a clear view of heat 1 crash, but thought Auty was very very unlucky to be excluded in heat 9 - i didnt think he touched Hall. I know you can only beat whats out there, but hopefully brings a little bit more optimism back, certainly for home meetings. Would also say that I thought the track was excellent tonight. Very smooth, and provided some lines to pass on. A bit of A and a bit of B i think. Obviously losing Mellgren hit the Scorps, but at the same time expected more from the likes of Auty tonight. Bears just gated better tonight, and looked quick. -

Grey and pretty misty here at the moment - forecast doesn't look too bad so hopefully it's all systems go this week. Will keep weather updated if i can though. On track, really not sure what the result will be! Lawson has been in superb form, and Wilko has had a decent start as well but need the likes of Graversen to step up. Hopefully getting a home meeting under their belt will help them out. Scunny look very solid - Douglas has gone very well here in the past. Hoping for a narrow Bears win, but in truth any result is possible here I think. -
