Redcar Half Team V Glasgow Strong Team

It's not too far from the nearest housing - I know the bikes can be definitely be heard from the nearest housing estate on a Thursday. In fact, I believe further trees were planted on the back straight this year to help with sound proofing. -
Certainly has not been dull watching the Bears this year!

So can we appeal the ridiculous exclusion for Garcia in heat 10? -

In fact, I dare say most meetings are refereed by someone who lives fairly close to home team, probably to cut down on any expenses. -

Good interview from Kevin Keay on the radio tonight - seemed to suggest members of Glasgow management were pressuring the medics to hurry up so heat ten could be re ran. No matter what you think about what went on, should certainly be tasty when the restaging happens! For what it's worth, I thought the ref got heat 1 wrong and the heat 10 incident wrong. Rest of the time I thought Garrity jumped and can't complain too much. And he was idiotic in forcing Williamson off in heat 1. -

Agree with pretty much all of that. Garrity was definitely moving in every one of his heats I thought, although he did not touch the tapes in heat 1 (apparently confirmed at the time by the video camerman). -

Agreed, my initial thought was Lawson went up the inside of Coty and appeared to straighten up leaving Coty nowhere to go. Nothing malicious but was at fault for me - was stunned to see the blue light on. -

To be fair I did hear it was a trainee ref in charge tonight (and indeed it was his exam!) so McGregor could not interfere, -

It would have certainly ended any debate, but was just the last of a list of bizarre decisions by the ref all night! -

Kevin refuted those claims very strongly on the microphone a couple of times throughout the delay. Would have been much easier to just not fix the fence than 'feign' injury as Dickson appears to insinuate. First responder turned up just after ten as I was leaving and find it pretty distasteful to suggest anything otherwise -

Not when it is down to lack of medical cover. First responder has only now just turned up, was a horrific crash and Coty landed right in front of us. Best wishes to him. -

Unfortunately there are not that many Bears fans on the speedway forums. Only a few regular posters on here and the BSF. It is a shame I agree. -

Obviously frustrating to be missing Ellis, Danny and JBA in what should be our biggest challenge of the season. Williamson the strongest possible guest and fingers crossed should get a decent return. Wallinger has been doing ok for Stoke in the NL, but any points will be a bonus really. Puts the pressure on the top 4, Barker has looked almost unbeatable at times round the MPA and need him to continue his good form. Glasgow obviously a strong team and should push us all the way - Lawson, Summers and our old friend Worrall can all score well here and Lunna is always good value. Gut feel is a narrow Glasgow win but hope I am wrong. For any Glasgow fans travelling weather is fine - is meant to cloud over but no rain is forecast. -
Firstly, Ben had an accident at home this morning. Was found by his mechanic at the bottom of the stairs and unable to move. Has been in hospital all day where he has regained feeling, and according to Kevin Keay he hopes to be riding on Saturday(!?). From how Kev described it, would imagine he will be out for a bit longer than that but best wishes to Ben. Its only based on 1 meeting, but I love Danny Ayres! Quick out of the gate, made a couple of great passes and an absolute showman. Plus a great quote when interviewed - "I'm not here to make the numbers up, I want to be a game changer". Based on today, he could be the key to us getting a play off spot. Ellis Perks was also superb again, god how we missed him. In his own words, only maybe 85% fit but a superb 10+1 and good to see Wright back in the big scores. Even though we only won by 9, it did feel a lot more comfortable than that. Kerr and MPT were both good value for Scunthorpe, and Aarnio battled hard (a bit too hard on a couple of occasions I thought!). Not much support from the rest of the team though and Auty looked a shell of the rider he used to be.

If both Wright and Perks are now fully fit, would expect a Bears win. Intrigued to see Ayres in action, not expecting him to score a boatload of points but certainly to be entertained by him! Would expect Aarnio to score well, rode well here in the Julie Lewis meeting at the start of the season.

Interesting comments from Redcar promoter Kevin Keay on the radio last night - crowds up 20% at Redcar this season (helps having a competitive team!)

I don't have a link to hand right now, but it is on the Glasgow Tigers Facebook. -
Going off SGB website, Rye expect Perks to be back for them tonight which could be a huge boost for us - as long as he is fit!
-
i think almost every Redcar fan posting on here has done exactly that..
-
A very fair summing up I think. Thank god for Barker and Garrity tonight. Really needed Wright and JBA to step up tonight if we were to win with Perks out. Wright didnt look 100% to me. Have to say fair play to Tom Bacon though, scored in every ride and though he was unlucky to be taken out for another poor Richard Hall display. Workington were solid throughout. Top 3 were always going to score points here, and Campton and Williamson chipped in with important points. Garritys head 13 ride was superb. Jorgensen is no slouch round the MPA so to catch and pass him from 15 metres was some effort Have to say, took a while for the racing to get going tonight as well. The outside was no mans land until the last 4 or 5 races.
-
Fancy this to be a close one. With Ellis and a fully fit Charles would expect a Bears win, and with Williamson going well at the minute this could nowgo either way. Would fancy Cook to go unbeaten, we need to make sure Garrity and Barker have the beating of Jorgensen and Proctor I think. Looking forward to it - being optimistic will go for a 2 point Bears win.
-
I think last year was also a big step up for him. Was signed to Redcar as a 3rd heatleader but was soon a number one and the only shining light from last season for us. I thought he would do well in the top league, although maybe not quite as well as he has. Delighted for him.
