[quote name=in there To call fans atrocious who his a bit farxlp support the clubs Ibigeddiechek' timestamp=1365944435' post='2265722] Here we are experiencing - once again - the major problem with speedway. I will get thumped for this, but I believe it to be true. The fans. They moan about the presentation. It is improved. They moan about the cost. Admission is slashed. They moan about the track. It is improved. They moan about team selections. We get most of who people wanted (does any team get all 7 that everyone wants?) They moan about not having a number 1. We get one. We moan about not winning anything. We win the fours. Then it is the close season. Then the season starts. They moan about, presentation, track, team selection, team management: probably not number 1, but heat leaders this year, losing a home meeting. If we're no way near the top of the league after a few meetings - which doesn't start until for 2 weeks yet - there will be greeting about it. The fans make the sport feel like a miserable waste of time. They really do. With rugby, fans talk - generally - enthusiastically about their teams. Of course there are grumbles, but they are not incessant, and utterly predictable in their nature. That wasn't a very good meeting at all last night, but it is the first one that has been bad enough for me to be vocal about in probably the best part of a year. The sport really isn't that bad. The fans are atrocious and are killing the sport. For that reason it is being strangled to death in the UK. We'll soon be saying RIP British Speedway, unless we start turning up and supporting it properly. I'll get pelters for this, but I'll stand by what I say, and I'm big enough to take it. Fair points I -

Tbh Berwick is the modern day Exeter. Even with the airfence I wouldn't fancy going for a big Jade Mudgway swoop on the 3rd and 4th Bend. I remember in 2005 Waitey had an obsession with preparing a track with one line right at the fence from Heat One. Then about May time he bought some new shale (no doubt with money out of the buckets) but regardless the racing for a couple of weeks was excellent . The Shale run out and we never saw it again. I often wonder with the track changes we made a few years ago, did hat help start the process of Berwick losing that crucial home track advantage. Berwick, now seem to have tracked a decent 7 so irrespective of what track surface they are given we should be winning our home matches. If you solely go to Berwick every week while supplementing that with a occasional dossage of the EL. Berwick by all accounts is pretty decent. I don't think an increased amount of dirt will make a difference. Great meetings at Berwick are very few and far between, enjoy them when they come, because you don't know when the next one will be -

Berwicks track has had its critcs but tbh since we got the corporate sponsorship its probably a contender for the best race circuit in the Northumberland area

Fair point emilali... The team was signed months ago.. Any disruption may affect our assault on the title On a brighter note i am very glad to see Scott posting and showing his never-ending support and friendship to other fans of our club. It promises to be another great season with most of the action happening on the forum boards.. Cheers
