I was only 3 in 1991 but if we signed riders of the calibre of Nilsson, Tatum and well a good solid seven. Yes we would be out of buisness. That being said we had good teams in 02,03 and 05 without going bust and we are still living the dream 8 years on. One signing in 2010 proved how things can change... Adam Pietraszko had a smiliar effect in 2004 for a short period anyway Good opprtunity to bring a new face in for next season presented itself so we bring back the ex gf. Don't really want to, but will do in the short term... Small clubs don't pay big fees for riders....

Because they have a promotion who know the Sport inside and out. Newcastle go into every meeting with a belief they can win (thats on away tracks) At home they just pummell teams pretty much week in week out, it builds confidence a winning mentality. If Newcastle don't perform, it is rectified very quickly usually in the next meeting Don't really know what to believe.. there were quotes about us having one of the biggest budgets in the league, that was on the official site, so if it lies why was on there? Us sheep will only believe what we are told. I think it is conveniant for those in charge to tell us we are a small club blah blah blah. To be frank I dont think it is any different for the majority of clubs in the PL. Times are hard, things cost more. Berwick has things going for it that a lot of clubs don't i.e a very loyal support both home and away. Other clubs though seem to be able to find ways of digging out the results. All clubs have a bad season for whatever reason maybe a rain off or an injury but you can't be poor domestically for 5 years and then say well we are just a small club. As I say our intention has never been to win things, as long as the public have a good jolly and the Bandits win by 2 with Super Lee making his Heat 12 pass the Bandits are happy. Our efforts lets be honest have been on raising the profile of the club. Had we put in the same amount of effort into our domestic season as we did with the raising of the clubs profile for the last 5 years, our league posistion may very well be different.

We are currently not punching above our weight and haven't for the last 5 years Peter Waite achieved with poorer riders on probably lesser packages. Now that tells me either these riders are being paid too much or the previous team manager had better management skills.... and no I dont mean Davew Peet

probably playing crazy golf at Spittal Beach... with Seb and Alex If your still making horrors like signing Edberg/Barrett over Dyer and to that the year previous German Pornstar then the season before that Hungarian Champion, its no wonder we dont win meetings, but as per Berwick Speedway its entertaining and provides a good giggle after a few beverages

John Anderson stated, "We are building the infastructure at Berwick", maybe I have missed the comments but I haven't read any stating Berwick are aiming for silverware. Top 6 finish yes I have read that... We do have a lovely stadium, best in the North (in my opinion) Newcastle and Edinburgh are successful, we are not.... Swedish riders generally speaking like a nice big fast track..... It might be our last season, but here is a thought for you had Mr Anderson and his army of chumps sat down and thought, our current performance wass not good enough. They said "I tell you what John we will make 2 or 3 really good signings". Berwick transform there season and end up say 3rd, would Berwick run in 2014? I have a sneaky feeling (I might be wrong) Berwick just about getting by winning home matches with 46 points and getting humped away helps keeps the Bandits going... as opposed to the olden days winning 4 or 5 away meetings and hitting 55 points usually most home matches.. Again, its another thought... do with it as you will

A point of note, that I remind myself from time to time off No one at Berwick Speedway (that I have read) have said they or we as a club want to win things. Apparently we are building the infastructure so I'm assuming that means the big meetings as opposed to the trophies in our cabinet. Shiefield is a lovely stadium I will give the promotion that, it's a fine Speedway venue. Back to my point it would be nice to be in the mix But that hasn't been our intention.. so why should our results change? Newcastle and Edinburgh two successful clubs will not reach the infastructure standards that we have but no how to put together a winning side with riders not a million miles better than us. Did we speak to Anton Rosen? If I was Anton and we know the Swedes like a big fast-track surely Berwick would have been a better propisistion than Newcastle? Ah but Newcastle are challenging for the title and there results as a team speak for themselves. What would Razor say if one of our potential signings said...."well Ian I'm really interested in riding for Berwick, nice people, nice track but how have the team done in the last few seasons" erm wellllll we had a Grand Prix challenge and the bikes go really fast..... Who knows this year might be our last, I would have been nice to have gone out with a bang....

Where Is It All Going Wrong At Berwick?

Well I'm glad you go to the Speedway for a good chat and a laugh... We've had underperforming riders and seasons for the last 5? but I don't assume your a regular attender of Berwick meetings, but hey as long as you and your chums have a good night, its a happy camp Check your stats and tell me your findings Cheers -

Two thoughts Maybe Berwick are happy with there riders scoring less points, after all it means less money tracking a solid 7 capable of scoring 50pts per home match minimum and 45 for away matches. Interesting to note our average points both home and away for 2013 If they find these performances unacceptable 1) why are the riders still here, 2) never anything in the media not that I am saying its good to put your dirty linen in public, but it would be nice too here along with all the compliments (some deserved), "that performance wass unacceptable, or our results over the season, and we will re-double our efforts for next season, to bring YOU the fans a team who can challenge and entertain." -

To be honest on what I have whitnessed I'd like to see Jade Mudgway back in the side. He's no Kozza Smith but he gives his all in every race and against any competitor, thats what we have missed this year... -

What was ment to be a open thread with a opportunity for decent debate and discussion ends up as per being ruined by the (ISM) AKA Internet Speedway Mongs. Seb Alden and Facu Albin yeah we'd have charged up the table with those two super troopers in our ranks. Seriously what planet do some folk live on, Stan Burza scoring points at No1, he's be a okay Second String as he proved in his last stint with his 6 point average. Same again 2014 -

crowds have been fairly consistant this year I would say. mathamatics is not my strong point but I'd say we have had better numbers this campaign, maybe wrong? -
We did achieve good league finishes under Mr Waite then again. If I was in charge and signed some Phillipino riders on the cheap your the type of bloke that would come on here and support me, even though I might be a complete lettuce. Then again Scott I know as you told me you get a kick out of winding ppl up and talking rubbishe

As I sit off the coast of Algeria pondering the happenings off the world and of the much beloved Berwick Bandits. Haven't been able to attend any Berwick meetings in the last fortnight, so my last meeting was watching Kacper Gomolski get his wheels in line vs Vaclav Milik and power home to victory. No disputing, it was a great night. Infact it was the best meeting I've seen live enjoyed it so much... great stuff However, Sadly U21 meetings don't come around every week at Fortress Shielfield but every summer we raise our expectations about what our team might be able to do (within reason - of course) a few silly suggestions but hey. It's very fustrating when Berwick now in Speedway terms have a top class venue so many good things that would really flourish with a good team riding in it. No necceserily a team of expensive riders. We were pretty decent under the previous regime paying bobbins. We've had some very good riders don our proud colours, Rymel, Rempala, Gjedde, Alden and Ashworth. Despite all the excellent things we've done off track (no disputing that) its just not happening where it matters on track and it hasn't since 2008. Why are we not performing? So many excuses about other tracks, weather, others riders, refs, our own riders goofing around, injuries. Thanks to GRT Media who put up the interviews with usually with the suited and booted members of the board. Now if our riders are busting there balls to ride for Berwick Speedway and we know who those guys are and have been, that's why we love Speedway or if we were signing sub standard riders. But we haven't we have signed good riders who have all shown what they can do. But come to Berwick and our riders generally speaking lose form as opposed too gaining, why is this? If the guys are winging it, as Mr Anderson said in his interview certain riders had gone through the motions at Berwick or words to that effect. That was something he strongly felt WOULD NOT happen this year. Totally agreed with the statement. This year has been the poorest of the 5. Admittedly the racing did pick up mid season with 4 or 5 meetings in quick sucession which I enjoyed throughly. We were devoid of spirit right from the off, minimal changes as per, Eddie Kennet might not be a big track man as Emilali stated but he was a poor advertisement of a now Ex EL no 1. Why in the hell are Aspegren and Barett still with the club? horrendous all season. Those two blokes at other clubs would have been gone with 8 weeks, but then again we've had this discussion note 2009. We also have a knack of just not turning up at big pressure meetings as 7 man septet. Why is this? In all the good things Berwick have achieved in more recent times. We were once at the very least a hard team to beat home, nothing special away from home, nor did we have the best riders. That's something you just deal with at Berwick. This season we've been beaten 6 times at home now in 2013? won away at Glasgow, of course every team have bad seasons. I'm unsure as to what Berwick's future is, on current form take out the U21 meeting which was unbelieveable Berwick Speedway has lost the buzz about it. The excitement of waking up on a Saturday and looking forward to seeing what happens trackside has dissapeared. Kozza Smith has had a very good season been very exciting he was given his all and more, so it can be done. British Speedway is all about the 7 riders you use, until we pick the right guys for the job based on ability and commitment coupled with a man who can motivate and lead a team, we are currently about as good as what Stoke were pre 2011 going NL, will we do the same? or wrap and just not bother next year?
