  1. Quick question! Where has all the money come from in Czestochowa? Almost 10 years ago 'the green lions' tracked - Nermark and the inexperienced Grigorij and Artem Laguta. Spent big on Emil and then relegation sadly followed a few years later. Present day - Sees Czestochowa track 3 world class riders. Granted their attendances look to have improved in conjunction with lucrative TV contracts and sponsorship. Madsen, Doyle and Lindgren won't be cheap. Great racetrack and stadium, would like to see Wlokinarz win a title, especially if that stops Leszno walking it (again) zzzzzzzzzz.
  2. Be good when it returns. It gives people men (primarily), an escape from reality.
  3. As we pace through a Speedway free summer (so far) in Great Britain. Are fans missing their weekly/fortnightly fix of methanol badly? Clubs have certainly done their bit, taking a nostalgic look down memory lane. Poland also started at the weekend. Will the absence of Speedway make the heart grow fonder / Or conversely will it allow people to think twice about attending the Sport in the UK? Money is going to be tighter and some people will lose/have lost their jobs due to the deadly virus. I would think Speedway will also need to implement things to meet Health and Safety guidelines, as football is doing now to keep all supporters safe from the deadly virus. We humans are very adaptive beings. I am sure whatever rules are 'enforced', supporters will return with reinvigorated desire to watch Speedway.
  4. Yes! I do remember his programme notes being rather pessimistic. Great rider, phenomenal consistency over 7 seasons. However the Sport moves on and new heroes are found apparently.
  5. Forgot just how good Andre Compton was in that particular era. Always a dependable 8.5 point man but really stepped up in 06/07. Always enjoy listening Mike's commentaries, he says it as he sees it.Thank you to all at Emtv for the weekly uploads.
  6. You haven't seen anything yet! But be safe in the knowledge, they are doing it to keep us all safe. Repetition, Repetition, Repetition!
  7. I do agree. Not sure everyone will be chomping at the bit to re-enter stadiums either. Sport provides an ideal escape for the working man. I wonder whether they will withdraw sporting events until there is universal support for a vaccine?
  8. Sport will need to take a back seat temporarily (at least). I am staggered Poland have had the audacity to start riding in a few weeks time. Fast forward a few months, money is going to be very very tight. People will be more selective; if they have wages to be selective with. Can't see Speedway starting this year.
  9. First Polish meeting I watched. I think 2011? The disparity between Gollob on a Sunday and a Tuesday was rather striking. However his consistency from 1996-2011 (in Poland) is unrivalled, certainly in modern times at least. Great thread btw.
  10. Really have enjoyed the uploads so far. Great to be able to take a nostalgic look down through the archives, with a points limit of 45. Be interesting to know what the viewing figures are for such meetings?
  11. The energy and enthusiasm he possessed was really infectious. Very commendable the way he was progressing in the Sport and probably would have challenged for Scunny's No1 bib.. Rest easy Danny!
  12. According to Sportowefakty, Zmarzlik beat Lewandowski to the Polish Sports person of the year. What a result for the still relatively young Pole. Granted Lewandowski was non existent in the Euro's (as were his colleagues). But, arguably out with Messi and Ronaldo, he is the most prolific CF in the world. While I would concede a lot of money has been pumped into Speedway nationally. Comments pre the event (that I read), suggested that Speedway over there is still in the minutiae across parts of Poland. Bartosz's victory should give new exposure to the Polish Ekstraliga and hopefully Ligue 1&2. Had his injuries, learning his trade under Gollob. He has produced unrivalled consistancy for the past 5 years domestically, while staying loyal to employers Stal Gorzow. A great night for Zmarzlik and hopefully a break through for Polish Speedway.
  13. Quite clearly still struggling with basic grammar and spelling. I wouldn't hold out for an 'awakening' of sorts. Hopefully his offspring has a bit more decorum when it comes to other people's views. Keyboard commando
  14. Speedway in the Uk, needs all the support it can get.
  15. Great team just the sort of side that will re-ignite the passion and desire of the local populas. Are they seriously going to charge £17 for this in 2020?
  16. I guess Ricky's average decrease is symbolic of when a rider: just can't find the elusive set up in the modern day. No doubt he will be on a fair wedge, more fool his future employers.
  17. Can't be good for Berwick then as all the riders took a paycut or freeze for 2019.
  18. How would you know: you haven't been for years? You need to back Scott/Jamie by paying at the gate and therefore then help them fulfil their ultimate goal! 2020 could be the year.
  19. £20 next season then! About time the fans really backed the club, for all the hard work the current promotion and previous incumbents have put in.
