  1. Phil Morris travelled out with Josh Bates so will get lowdown on the meeting later. Couple of falls obviously didn't help Josh cause. Be interesting to find out how useful Bradley the NZL lad is
  2. Was he there for the speedway or to see Stacey Solomon? Jose
  3. Just spoken to Phil Morris who is out there with lads Josh hit a massive hole causing the injury and jerran smashed up both bikes so was forced to retire from meeting. Not a good day at all for the Brits Best wishes to Josh for a speedy recovery Just seems to be injury after injury at the moment
  4. I watched the Birmingham vs USA match last Thursday, and really enjoyed the racing, Castro and McConnell were all action plus Nicol and Burman had a good go as well. Ok the rest were off the pace, but I understand it's a tough transition from stateside to here for a lot of the guys plus their attitude towards their hosts and the fans was spot on before, during and after the meeting.
  5. It would have been good to catch up Derek. Sorry I didn't see you. Enjoyable evening, Impressed how much Tim Webster has improved and what a show from fast Eddie All the best P
  6. Match just finished my first visit to perry barr. Enjoyed the meeting. Crowd was ok about 450 I'd say. The young brummies were comfortable winners Tim Webster and Paul Starke both rode very well, looking fast and smooth. Including a last heat 5-1 over star of the show Eddie Castro Ben Reade looked very useful scoring paid 11 For the USA Eddie Castro was superb, what a shame we didn't see him over here regularly in his younger days. Won his first 4 before tiring in his last. Doug Nicol, Mad Dog McConnell were competitive with Mike Burman and Joey Holt on the pace at times. Sadly Terchila, Sonnier and Black were totally off the pace. Scores bulls 60 Hargreaves 9+1. Perry 7+2. Webster 13+1. Johnson 4+1. Stark 13. Reade 9+2. Ritchings 5+1 USA 35 Castro 16. Terchilla 0. Burman 3. Nicol 7 mcconnel 5+1. Sonnier 0. Holt 4. Black 0 Castro had a 6pt tr and Nicol a 4pt tr
  7. I'm heading up to Brum with Big Phil Morris next Thursday for the meeting against the USA boys. Looking forward to seeing them in action and hopefully meeting some of the guys who work hard to put it all together.
  8. You sure it wasn't channel 914 which distracted you Pove?
  9. Can anyone out there confirm is there a restriction on the amount of meetings/days per week, track can be used. And when is planning in place for with regards to the facility? Cheers
  10. That's bad news for James and the other riders concerned Jules. If there was any money left from the bond to pay the riders (which it appears there isn't from other posts) then my understanding from talking to riders who have this happen to them in the past is that you only get the standard point and travel rates.
  11. Big blow to Welsh Speedway that the original Welsh Wizard Phil Morris retired last year and the self titled Welsh Wizard is returning this.
  12. Phil Morris has taken on the role of coach along with experienced mechanic Neil Vatcher and former rider/engine tuner Graham Jones. I know Phil has spent a lot of time with the under 15 riders and also with the more experienced guys as well. Lets hope the hard work pays off at the Under 21 final on Sunday.
  13. Visited the Walkabout in Cardiff after the GP on Saturday, had a big screen that you could text messages too in there. Some of the speedway related ones were very amusing, seems Mr Mallett jnr at Newport and Phil Bartlett at Weymouth are loved by their fans
  14. Good idea Simon, last year I parked at High Cross station (near J27, M4) free parking and short train journey into Cardiff.
  15. Ginger Phil was in deep conversation with Big Phil on Saturday evening, but I think Big Phil is too busy with his TV career at this time!!!
  16. Great observation Racers and Royals, lets hope Ole reads this forum and takes on board your comments.
  17. Good point from racers and royals, you must have given this subject some serious thought, written like a man with a lot of time on his hands over the weekend. I think that it would be a good idea if BSI employed a young rider to do this indoor testing, maybe the Aussie lad Kyle Magoffin would be a good choice.
  18. Racers Team Manager Timmy Sugar and his loyal friends Bob Simmons and Eric Rein flew out to Germany on Friday looking forward to seeing the last GP of the series. They had their VIP tickets booked and were all set for a fantastic weekend. So when Racers Communications Manager Andy Povey broke the bad news that the GP was off to Tim and his pals in their hotel on Saturday morning, you can imagine that Tim was about as cheerful as when I saw him last Monday evening after the Racers' record home defeat. Tim, Bob and Eric had to spend the whole of Saturday and Sunday morning killing time and were looking forward to getting home ASAP on Sunday afternoon. Fog descended on the Düsseldorf area of Germany during Sunday, so the boys found upon arrival at the airport that the inbound Ryanair flight was diverted and their outbound flight cancelled. They were then informed that Monday's flight was fully booked and that they would have to find alternative flights home. Easyjet to the rescue, but they had to make their own way to a small airport near Dortmund some 100 miles away! They managed to sort transport out to Dortmund, but upon arrival found the airport shut and were forced to sit outside for 4 hours until it opened. Still at least the Easyjet flight home took off on time at 7am and they landed safely at Luton airport earlier today.! Trouble is that they flew out of Stanstead on Friday, so their car was parked there!!!! I think Timmy has had better weekends!
  19. Well thanks for telling me R&R you know I rely on you for all the news, scandal and gossip!
  20. It's on speedwayworld.tv now. What's going on with the Rusky's they only have 4 riders, is Emil S (won't even try and spell it) injured? as Darkin named though not riding weird? riding order changed for GB as well.
  21. I will be in The Prince of Wales and later the gatekeeper - along with the rest of my crew (including the Prince of Welsh speedway). Be nice to meet up with some more of you.
  22. Uno Johansson who rode for Reading in the early 80's was very tall 6'6, two memories of him first was he couldn't get right the tight bends of Perry Barr when racers visited Birmingham and secondly was Billy Sanders nutting him after Uno stuffed him twice in first bend melee's, and Peo Gudmusson (sp??) having to jump on Billy to save poor old Uno from taking a real beating.
  23. Looking at the forecast mate - I reckon you'll be taking full advantage of the food n wine and not watching much tennis! Still next year they will have the roof on for you.
  24. Well I shall be in the Prince of Wales with speedway's very own Prince of Wales as from mid-afternoon...Be great to meet up with lots of forum people (especially girlies! )
