  1. Having read twitter comments earlier from the head honcho at CFS! I bet Cookie can’t wait to slip into their sponsored race jacket
  2. First visit to Somerset since 2008 with Reading. Forgot how cold it can get there and a 30 minute delay to start proceedings after a lady needed medical help didn't help, but these things can't be helped. and to be fair, that kept the meeting going well once started. Some good racing without it ever being really great though Chris Harris heat 15 was sublime. Apart from Harris who will be a real force round the OTA, I was very impressed by Henry Atkins for the home side, very good potential that lad. Kurtz and Covatti also did well whilst the new German lad will definitely be an asset. Rory S was good, but expected that from him on a well prepared track in clear weather (rain and bumops who knows)! As I mentioned earlier Rowe was on the pace and with Atkins looking good, hopefully he'll be given a long run to prove himself without too much pressure. For the Brummies, Ashley Morris and Zach W both performed well and good to see they are continuing to develop. Ulrich showed some glimpses that he can still mix it with the top guys, Paco produced 2 good heat wins, so certainly doing his job at reserve. Shanes was competitive and brave. Kyle Newman flattered to deceive in the tough number 5 jacket whilst Tobias Thomsen was off the pace apart from heat 8. Crowd wasn't great, about 500 at a guess. Thought it might have been higher with nice day and kids off school. Not over impressed with the presentation, all a bit bland - don't do much to get crowd going or get kids involved. Reasonably priced Chicken Nuggets though :-) Enjoy evening overall.
  3. Thomsen was a long way back in his firsttwo, bit closer in his third - was t/s in final ride Rowe broke tapes in heat 2 but wasn't far off the pace thereafter. Very impressed by Atkins.
  4. Start of meeting delayed. Lady in crowd Poorly or injured in crowd. Waiting for ambulance to transfer from St. John’s.
  5. Been a good while since I started a topic on the BSF - but as I am in the Bristol area on Weds, I am planning to head down to the OTA for this match. Always enjoyed visits in the past, I'm sure this one will be equally as enjoyable.
  6. It’s all about opinions and mine is you’re a keyboard warrior!
  7. Obviously. If I only I had your charisma and wealth of knowledge of the sport. Love the keyboard warriors like you! :-) :-)
  8. I've re-read your last post about Ulrich, but your grammar is so rubbish it doesn't really make sense! if you're so proud to be a Brummie, then back the guy and give him a chance!
  9. Blimey, one challenge match and you want Ulrich out already! Nothing like giving a guy a chance!
  10. That of course was similar to that plan of Gaming International (Stadia UK) initially - move Dogs/Speedway from Blunsdon to the new Racino in Reading. I actually drove round the land which Reading Council had offered GI/Stadia today. Warehouses - made me think what it could have been if GI/Stadia had kept their word. They of course didn’t and never have when it comes to any stadium construction / replacement.
  11. Can’t believe Somerset show up without a number 8 for such a big meeting!
  12. Fantastic news, brilliant. Stadia UK are always true to their word! So all the infrastructure will be place perfectly coming tapes up 2019!!! Sadly, having heard the bull$hit that the same company fed the public of Reading for 7 years - I doubt if anything will happen!
  13. A bit late, but was away in Dorset last week, so made first visit to Poole for a league match since attending with Racers/Bulldogs in 2007! Took my 8 year old along for his first taste of speedway live. Decent crowd, 2000+ I'd say - surprised the track was as dry as it was given all the rain the previous day, things got dusty quickly and the racing wasn't great! Hosepipes (one of which had a massive leak) used after heat 10 I think from memory, to try and dampen the dust, but they took so long getting the track staff back out, that the track was a dust bowl again by heat 11. Closeness of the score rather than quality of racing kept things interesting, but overall I didn't get the urge to be back watching speedway week in week out, like I did up to 10 years ago! One thing Poole definitely miss a trick on is presentation, the announcer (Nigel?) clearly is very good, but the lack of a presenter surprises me, with that sort of crowd, Poole need to do be something to engage with them and really get an atmosphere, lots of kids there so was a great chance for a mascot to entertain the kids (something like Paul the Pirate?) would surely have got a good reaction! My nipper enjoyed Kacper Woryna pulling wheelies, but that was about it as far as something to actually get the crowd engaged.
  14. Heard that one on countless occasions at Reading. They are more than economical with the truth to put it mildly!
  15. Guessing that Auty a lot cheaper to employ than the Polish lad and probably get Scotty on better deal than Bjerre so maybe this is cost cutting exercise as much as anything.
  16. Of course - it’s not what you know it’s who you know RnR
  17. Hello R n R - Nice to know you were worried about me like many fans my interest has somewhat declined in recent seasons! I'll be at Cardiff Saturday though with the legend that Kelsey Kay - might see you then.
  18. If anyone has a room booked they don’t need let me know. Cheers.
  19. Will it heck as like! All it will do is continue to see up and coming overseas riders being allowed to learn their trade over here before buggering off or we'll see plenty of overseas never will be's in the teams! If they were serious about British riders they'd have given them all a 15/20% average reduction and all they have done is ruled out the majority of the top boys from being allowed to ride the Premiership if they were ever interested in the first place! I'm sure the major brand sponsors (who happily throw money at darts, snooker, rugby and netball) will be falling over themselves to get involved, as will the TV Broadcasters!!! FFS
