  1. Cue questions to Alex Harkness Bike revs, "Sorry I can't hear a word you're saying" Bike revs again "Sorry I can't hear a word you're saying"
  2. Classic question to Craig Cook "How is the team reacting to the return of Alex?" Eh, that;s not our team?
  3. You echo my thoughts exactly, Like you, I've been once this season, and don't know if I'll be back - a few years ago, nothing made us miss the speedway on a Saturday. It's good to see Gary Flint bringing on young riders, but I fear it may be too late.
  4. In my own experience, many of the population of East Lothian are dense. Sorry - it had to be said, I'll get my coat.
  5. Agree with you H, but must admit that only a small proportion of the crowd actually come from the town (and many of those are "interlopers"). Why? I don't know, and see it mirrored at the Football too, perhaps there are too many other distractions for local youngsters. I know it isn't "cool" to go to the Speedway. We do well to have a Speedway team in Berwick, but like the Playhouse, local shops, and many other things, we would rather moan about them, than use them - and then complain when they have gone. Historically, I seem to remember the idea of a move to the central Borders being mooted in the past. Apathy will win the day.
  6. Berwick Ranger find themselves in a situation akin to one that many of us experience - when our cars get older, do we carry on spending money on them, or trade in for a newer one with the costs involved? "New" Shielfield Park is nearly 60 years old, and requires constant updates and improvements; is it time for Berwick Rangers to upgrade to a newer model? With the benefits of grants, and tax incentives to build rather than repair, it certainly looks tempting. The Chairman of Berwick Rangers is a successful businessman, and a great visionary. I believe if he wants a new stadium, he will have done his sums, and proceed accordingly - either to develop a new arena, or negotiate a better price for Shielfield Park, and improve it accordingly.
  7. If things are as bad as we are told, (and it isn't the first Winter that we have faced "there'll be no Speedway next year unless the Fans put money in), and there is no National sponsor in the wings, As fans our priority must be to generate interest in the mainstream press in the club, and it's precarious position. But remember the boy who cried Wolf! As Devils Advocate - if the club folds, what becomes of the fence that was paid for largely by supporters and riders giving their services?
  8. I think this is the first time that I have agreed with you WJM. A short survey would show what most fans think (if they replied), rather than a vociferous dozen or so. The local paper seems to follow Facebook campaigns for news stories, so maybe that is the place to start.
  9. Well out of order to name you. Any off policy thoughts will not be tolerated
  10. Naturally PL is first choice, but clubs can only lose so much. Berwick is not alone in making losses this season - a combination of the weather, and a reduction in many peoples available spending money. Playing Devils Advocate- what is the answer? To pay riders less? Are there any overheads than can be trimmed further?(I would imagine not). Stoke dropped down this season - I don't know how they have done, I feel there are probably 4 or 5 teams for whom dropping down is a very real possibility this winter. Where will riders come from? As a nation we have no infrastructure to bring on young talent (especially in the North), but NL could not afford foreign imports.
  11. History shows that there are a band of fans who will turn out to support any Bandit team, regardless of which league they are in. As long as they pay their money, and buy food, does it matter which league the team is in?
  12. http://www.dailyreco...ver-cash-964367 Sorry to be going off thread. Interestingly Wilson has now gone to join another Scottish club - will history repeat?
  13. Another Peter creamed off some gate money for many years. No connection to Waite at all.
