U15s Assessment For Academy League
pastrana199 replied to rabbit's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
Im so glad at last that speedway is starting to have proper development for young riders and hopefully this will enourage young girls too. Great to have a look through Montys website. I hope that this kind of competition for this age group can bring on girls such a s Monty and Claire Frays to develop into good safe CL riders and beyond. Unfortunatly for me a couple of clubs have discouraged me so much because Im a girl to the point Im sick of speedway and no longer wish to get on a bike. Due to my age I cannot ride in the Academy League or anything and Im not blowing another 10k this season on trying to 'pretend to be a speedway rider' as many people have said. So good luck girls and Im still here to encourage and support this kind of development. Jessie -

Gillman Results Please For Saturday 4th March
pastrana199 replied to pastrana199's topic in International World of Speedway
He wants to concentrate on helping the younger riders develop. But he's considering racing in the WA title meeting which I think is at Bunbury end of this month??? He will be over in the UK end of May beginning of June and he already asked if he could have a spin on my bike, so you never know, hard to get rid of the bug once you have it -

Lee had a good practice and then was leading the first race when blew the motor he was riding - loaned to him by Trevor Harding Apparently Trelor isnt there for the sidecar meeting as racing in Tamworth. The Perth boys are doing well in the sidecar title I was told -
Soon as anyone knows any results from the Gillman meeting, Saturday 4th March can you put them up. Or hopefully I will post soon as Lee calls to say how he did in his first meeting since 2001. pastrana199 replied to Timbo's topic in International World of Speedway
Yeh your right in saying Johno (orange KTM) Simon Stead (blue and white) Trevor and Daniel Harding. There's also Dave Cheshire, (on old Johno bike, Maxima purple) Other riders in photos inc. girly riders Carly Gittus (white/purple) and another woman Denise (forgotton surname) Pity only one photo of Carly as she came 2nd in the clubman event only beaten by ex-premier league rider Nigel Flatman Other riders out there are Mark Jovic Wish I had gone to race there now, got asked to and then got told not to bother by a certain Perth rider who told me it wouldnt be a decent meeting! You mind be interested to know that Lee Redmond had a practice last week in Perth and will be racing at Gillman on 4th March in a view to racing the WA title at Bunbury end of March -

Aussie Titles Round 3 - Ding Ding
pastrana199 replied to Ozyace's topic in International World of Speedway
It had rained last night but there was no reason why track couldnt have been prepared properly. Word around the track is that this is the death of Gosford speedway now. What gets me is that these riders have put a lot of time and effort to get to these meetings. For example, Simon Stead's crew organised by Lee Redmond from Perth. 5 guys in a motorhome travelling distances like going to Poland from England let alone the fact Simon has flown 17,500miles to be there. All the riders are there and will be going to Newcastle Saturday and Gosford dont have the ability to run it 2moro instead No wonder Jason Crump, Ryan Sullivan etc dont want to be involved in this competition -
Yes like has been said Matt got back last Thursday and was very kind to put me up for the weekend and take me to Broadford. He nearly was going to have a practice to see how his back is but thought it best to leave it another week before the South Aussie title meeting. He tested it out with some roller blading down the beach front and luckily stayed upright

Might have also been to do with the fact I never raced the other competitors of my standard when Dan got them all day. It wasnt programmed so that everyone raced everyone. I ended up with Corey Gathercole couple times and the Dores twice and Mark Jones, Ty Proctor etc and never even raced Quentin Byrnes and Paul B wasnt there and I beat them both easy last meeting there It is hard to race someone elses bike but Karlis has been great letting me do that, saving me a 20hour round trip. Getting on the plane is much easier. Actually Main Man, Ive heard someone with louder snoring now!! I stayed at Matt Jones House and his dad kept me awake from another bedroom - thats my other excuse for not being on the pace sunday!! Catch you at Gillman then Launchy, nice meeting you Sunday

So when Im sitting watching the tv and the elite league riders are wearing white instead of green or gold or yellow and black instead of yellow thats ok(?) and they dont get fined, but some under 15 kid who's spent out on a red, blue, green, white, yellow and yellow and black over the last 2 seasons (6 helmet colours £78!!) whats the point in all the helmet colour changes if the riders/tv its ment for arent even abiding by the rules!
-
When i got my new green helmet colour in 2003 a ref threatened to fine me (cant remember who?) at newport v somerset PL meeting saying i had the wrong colour green on!! i had bought my helmet colour from a well known helmet colour maker. when i told her what had happened she sent me a copy of the scb/bspa letter that was sent to her with a sample of the green colour and she had it spot on. all the riders who rode all season with the darker devon shirt design helmet colours were infact using the wrong colour according to scb/bspa letter! now we've all purchased our green colours they all use white anyway on tv! i thought the green was for the tv! and yes you are right plenty of riders have come out in Gps and the world cup in yellow/black some people just like to make life hard. like this pr**k of a machine examiner at reading (Mr Jefferies).i had just picked up a name plate from a trophy shop on way to speedway one night at reading and parked my bike in the pits and was just going to put on my name plate when the machine examiner threatened to tell the ref and fine me for no name plate! he went on about it all night and made me cry at one point! i asked the ref after the meeting and said it wasnt a prob anyway as i had my name on my seat this machine examiner went on about my name plate, environmental mats, rules and regs for 2 hours and then didnt even bother to check my cut out!
