  1. Well if he continues in his current form, its going to be hard for anyone to stop David Howe winning this.
  2. Andersen and Pedersen are possibly the only two capable of stopping JC winning again, but they need to be more consistant as JC will reach at least 8/11 finals and finish on at least 6 rostrums this year.
  3. Teams were BRISTOL- PHIL CRUMP, HENRY KROEZE, STEVE GRESHAM, NIGEL BOOCOCK, LANGLI, TONY GARRAD, SOREN SJOSTEN CRADLEY - BASTABLE, PRAESTBRO, ALAN GRAHAME, DAVE PERKS, BRUCE CRIBB, MEL TAYLOR, BRUCE PENHALL
  4. World Finals in three decades . . came across some suprise ones Andy Smith 80's - 2000 Bohumil Brehl 80's - 2000 John Jorgensen 80's - 2000 Antonin Kasper 80's - 2000
  5. Just wondering if the track will be available for training or practice sessions next February before the new season. It would certainly beat a few wet days at Stoke, Scunny or Buxton and be the ideal place to get things set up.
  6. and a big pile of American $$$$$ sitting in the bank ! SUBspicies were one of the event sponsors and all the start line girls were given them as well as some riders.
  7. Thinking about it and not having the record books around, has any other rider achieved winning FIM gold medals in three decades ?
  8. Did Ivan Mauger never ride in a World Final in the 80's

  10. Actually thought twice when I posted it Hans Nielsen did however win World Titles in three decades. He lifted the pairs with Ole Olsen in 1978 then the individual in the 80's and 90's. When did Olsen make his debut ? Won his first in 71
  11. Hans Nielsen made his debut in 1980 in Gothenburg and was still in the GP's into the millenium. Ole Olsen made his debut in the 60's and went through to the mid 80's.
  12. Joe rode in the Sam Ermolenko Farewell last night wearing his new SUBspiecies set up that has kitted him out for the new season. This is the same set up as used by Scott Nicholls and also signed up has been Josh Auty and Adam Wrathall. Joe had one ride against Wrathall and 13 year old James Sarjeant and won by a clear length of a straight in a time only just over a second slower than those clocked in the meeting. With Joe lining up at reserve in the Conference this year with Scunthorpe and Tai Woffiden and Josh Auty, it looks like Scunny will be in for a very good season.
  13. I too though the prices were well over the top, but I was shocked to find out who they belonged to. None other than former England International, John Davis who looks younger now than he did when he retired. For those thst do feel the price was too much, you may get some satifaction that I puched JD in the face tonight. It was by mistake as I turned around to point someone to the toilets as JD walked behind me. I should add that he was never one of my favourite riders, but I spoke to him a number of times during the night and had a laugh with him about the accidental punch and found him a nice guy and in good spirits. SAM'S FAREWELL A sad thought that we will never see those unbelievable passes and team riding skills again, but was pleased to here Sam say he will be around for some time to come. A cold night, but a good send off for a speedway legend with the attendance showing the admiration and respect he has built up in his 25 years of racing.
  14. Weather forecasts for the weekend say the country will be hit with high winds and snow storms good job its a Flaming Farewell isn't it
  15. Stop being fussy - its free !!! £15 Adults - £10 Concessions - £5 Children 5-15 years Gates open around 12.30 and live bands play into the night straight after the meeting, so you could be there for 10 hours for £15
  16. Sue - Is there anyway you can get up with Robyn or LW ? Would be a shame for you to miss this one a cup of coffee waiting for you
  17. I cant see any reason why the speedway should or would be stopped if Man Utd are now playing at home. All the united fans come up the M6 anyway
  18. Vertually copied the GP line up with bottom three adeed. Zagar may have done well in the GP's but I would not put him in the top 10, while Peter Karlsson should be in the top 10 easily ahead of Zagar, Nicholls, Lindback. If you include Rickardsson in the list then he would have to be in the top three. Protasiewicz even Richardson and Iversen shouldnt be in this list but where o where is Peter Karlsson ? Kasprzak ? Karol Zabik ? While I think Fredrik Lindgren could be a contender soon, he shouldn't be there just yet but Leigh Adams and Bjarne Pedersen deserves more credit than 9th and 15th and Nicholls should be in there somewhere. Where is Peter Karlsson I will have a pint of what youve been on please ! "Ladies and Gentlemen, coming onto the track now is the World #1, Scott Nicholls" Please wake me up ! Harris and Stead have no reason just yet to be in the top 15 while Tomasz Gollob, Jarek Hampel have to be in there errr . . . . have to ask . . . Where is Peter Karlsson ? PK ; Multi World Team Cup Champion, Fourth in GP Challenge, finished in the top 5 of the averages in England for the last two seasons with averages just short of 10 a match. So here is mine, based on league scores, current form, GP form, etc. 1 - Jason CRUMP 2 - Hans ANDERSEN 3 - Ncki PEDERSEN 4 - Leigh ADAMS 5 - Greg HANCOCK 6 - Andreas JONSSON 7 - Bjarne PEDERSEN 8 - Jaroslaw HAMPEL 9 - Peter KARLSSON 10 - Tomasz GOLLOB 11 - Scott NICHOLLS 12 - Matej ZAGAR 13 - Antonio LINDBACK 14 - Rune HOLTA 15 - Mark LORAM Just outsider or near consideration were ; Wieslaw Jagus, Jesper B Jensen, Fredrik Lindgren (ask again in 12 months), Ryan Sullivan, Billy Hamill and especially for Stevebrum . . David Howe ????
  19. He rode at number 7 for Cradley Heath in an Inter League Cup match on the 2nd of June 1978. Bristol fielded at team including Phil Crump, Soren Sjosten and Nigel Boocock EDIT; Bristol won 40-38
  20. Penhall rode at reserve for the Heathans in that match
  21. The Wolves P+P started last night with Sam riding his 1993 bike for the first 30 mins or so. He has kitted himself out with new kevlars for the occasion which are based on the stars and stripes and look a bit like the blue suit Evel Kninevel used at Wembley in the 70's. Promises to be a great day with the big finale said to be worth the entrance fee alone (Whatever it is) This Sunday - Gates open at 12.30, racing starts at 4pm, but be warned . . the car park will be full by 2.30pm Crump - PK - Lindgren - Hancock - Hamill - Jonsson - Nicholls - Adams etc etc
  22. Scott Nicholls and Chris Harris will be in there for sure Think Lee Richardson is in for a good season, so he should be there and really Mark Loram and Simon Stead filling the top 5 places quite easily. So who will be the standby reserve ? Lewis Bridger ? - should be a 6+ rider this year David Howe ? - with bp's added he will be a 7+ rider David Norris ? - cant see him getting ahead of the two mentioned already Edward Kennett ? - should be a good 5-6 point rider at Poole with Middlo ? Chris Louis ? - Will he want to be considered at his age ? 1 = Scott Nicholls 2 = Simon Stead 3 = Lee Richardson 4 = Chris Harris 5 = Mark Loram 6 = David Howe 7 = Lewis Bridger
  23. Will JC dominate yet again ? Last year he didnt dominate certain meetings, but come the semi-final and he showed his class. If he loses out in a few semi-finals in 2007 then I'm sure a Scandanavian will be waiting to pounce 1 = Hans Andersen 2 = Jason Crump 3 = Andreas Jonsson 4 = Nicki Pedersen 5 = Leigh Adams 6 = Greg Hancock 7 = Bjarne Pedersen 8 = Jarek Hampel 9 = Scott Nicholls 10 = Tomasz Gollob 11 = Matej Zagar 12 = Antonio Lindback 13 = Rune Holta 14 = Wieslaw Jagus 15 = Chris Harris
