  1. Suprised Hougaard didn't win this (did he have a pointless ride ? ) Simon Nielsen is coming on well and will be a good rider to watch out for
  2. AFTER ROUND 8 - Lativa With 3 rounds to go, Nicki Pedersen leads the GP Series by 16 points while second placed Jason Crump is 16 points clear of third placed GregHancock. Fredrik Lindgren has moved back into the top 8 but have 4 riders within 10 points of him. 2008 GP LEADERBOARD 134 1 Nicki PEDERSEN DK 118 3 Jason CRUMP AUS 102 6 Greg HANCOCK USA 98 4 Tomasz GOLLOB POL 91 5 Hans ANDERSEN DK 89 2 Leigh ADAMS AUS 71 10 Andreas JONSSON SWE 59 15 Fredrik LINDGREN SWE -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 57 7 Rune HOLTA POL 52 8 Scott NICHOLLS GB 49 12 Niels Kristian IVERSEN DK 49 16 Wild Card xxx 49 9 Chris HARRIS GB 45 11 Bjarne PEDERSEN DK 38 14 Krzysztof KASPRZAK POL 32 13 Lukas DRYML CZR
  3. Well thats me stuffed for the weekend. The Mrs wants to watch her programme then X Factor when the speedway is on, so it looks like I will be watching the 8am showing. This finishes at 11am, just in time to visit the shop and get ready for Villa V Liverpool Shame the Mrs wanted a lift in the morning isn't it
  4. It appears Tai Woffinden will be in all three matches despite Rye House riding on the same night once, however I doubt teams will agree to releasing their riders if they have crucial league matches. Take the first test at Monmore Green on September 8th. That night Poole are at Peterborough, so I presume Holder will be at EoES while Somerset will want Jason Doyle at Reading. With England possibly fielding Woffinden, Kennett, Bridger, Haines, Mear etc at Monmore, I think it will be hard to see the Aussies winning the first test if Holder and Doyle are missing
  5. Don't think the pay is anywhere near what is paid for league matches and having ridden in Sweden last night, it may cost more to get back than what they get paid.
  6. Well at least we know Crumpy, Adams, Freddie and Neils will be there but the weather isnt great in the midlands and with the weather at present, I will watch this via the updates instead.
  7. Was hoping to get across for this tonight but that looks unlikely now This no longer holds the credability of years gone by, but this is a good line up and on a neutral track where only Fredrik Lindgren and Chris Holder have ridden before. Would love to see Freddie win it, but have a feeling Hans Andersen will celebrate his move to Coventry with another trophy despite only riding a few matches for them ! 1. Hans Andersen 2. Leigh Adams 3. Fredrik Lindgren 4. Jason Crump
  8. Heard via a third party that Nicolai is absolutley buzzing after the meeting. He made some pretty good gates but also had to come from the back and went through the card unbeaten. Other Wolves assets, Krister Jacobsen and Kenneth Hansen both scored 8 points but one young Dane I expect to see do well very shortly, Simon Nielsen scored just 3 points ..... but he did only have one ride. Well Done Nic and keep it going tomorrow night
  9. Nicki Pedersen extends lead to 17 points after 3rd place in Sweden (Round 7) 2008 GP LEADERBOARD 116 1 Nicki PEDERSEN DK 99 3 Jason CRUMP AUS 89 6 Greg HANCOCK USA 84 5 Hans ANDERSEN DK 82 4 Tomasz GOLLOB POL 80 2 Leigh ADAMS AUS 61 10 Andreas JONSSON SWE 53 7 Rune HOLTA POL -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 52 15 Fredrik LINDGREN SWE 48 12 Niels Kristian IVERSEN DK 47 16 Wild Card xxx 45 8 Scott NICHOLLS GB 40 9 Chris HARRIS GB 38 11 Bjarne PEDERSEN DK 31 14 Krzysztof KASPRZAK POL 25 13 Lukas DRYML CZR
  10. Not old enough to have ever watched these in action, but I would have loved to have seen Bluey Wilkinson ride.
  11. The top 8 qualify direct. I then think that the Qualifiers should find 8 riders to ride in the GP Challenge Final against the next 4 in the standings and 4 selected riders who may have missed out due to injury, riders in form and also the World U-21 Champion. These 16 would then find the other 7 qualifiers for the next years series.
  12. The Wolves programme ran a column about this saying Tai Woffinden and Joe Haines should be in the England team and Ty Proctor in the Aussies team. Most likely Chris Holder, Troy Batchelor, Daniel King, Lewis Bridger and Ed Kennett will also feature in what looks like some interesting meetings. There should be more test matches like in the 70's and 80's as the England V Denmark clashes were great .... bit one sided at the moment, but we could always take on America with confidence now
  13. Great show from a Wolves legend. Would have loved to have had him back on a 4.89 average and now he is scoring well at Poole and now the Polish Champion Well Done Adam 6 A. 14. Give it a year or two and I can't see England not winning the U-21 WTC with Woffinden, Bridger, Haines, Roynon etc etc.
  15. Spoke to Chris (Superbart) last night and I was now glad Fredrik Lindgren never won a heat with the choice of music he had lined up Abba - Gimme Gimme Gimme .... A man after midnight Think Wham - Young Guns would have been more apt being the youngest in the line up, even a song from the Swedish Chef offf the muppets would have been better and expected from a Coventry / Nicki fan .... Good choice overall. Chris - I know it was probably never going to get used (for some listed), but what music did you have ready if any of these won a race ... Ed Kennett Tomasz Gollob Leigh Adams Lukas Dryml Krzysztof Kasprzak Tai Woffinden
  16. Ok Chris, (Superbart) here is my take on it Land of Hope & Glory - Brilliant piece of music and possibly played at the right time. Sky obviously loved it as they broke from an interview to show Bomber walking back with it blaring in the backgound and all the Union Jacks waving. 10/10 Nicki's Music - While "Bad Boys" often sums up him nicely, he was the innocent part in many ways then and maybe the correct piece of music would have been "I get knocked down ... I get up again". ... The Ivor Biggun track, well I must admit I had a gigle at it, but I have to agree that with Cardiff being a day when a lot of kids are present maybe isn't the right place. ... As for "He's a Scumbag" .. well that one worked well. 5/10 Wizard of Oz - Have to say its a play on words and thats all. So one is Oz, the other Aus ... so what. Well Done it was fitting as he was the wizard of the day. 9/10 Maybe when Bomber won a race, you good have played "Dambusters" or Bomb the Base, "Beat Dis" Scott Nicholls - Didn't catch what was played when he won, but thought you did well having something ready in case he did win one. Think Thin Lizzy's "Boys are back in town" or maybe Iron Maiden's, "Bring your daughter, to the slaughter" Hans Andersen - Fine with the HCA music, but after recent events (with Freddie and Bomber) then maybe "Your more than a number in my little red (black) book" would have been fitting. Overall mate, job well done and you will learn from your mistakes. PS; May I suggest next year if you get the chance you should play AC/DC's "TNT"
  17. As many know I'm not the biggest Nicki fan, but this thread is stupid. Yes he got lucky with a number of referee calls that went in his way, but thats not his fault and can't be called cheating in that sense. Yes he stayed down on the track, but thats nothing to do with making sure the ref goes his way. Thats an old tried and trusted way of getting your pit crew to get the bikes back to the pits, clean out the dirt from the clutch and air filters etc etc. Nick can be hard and ruthless and is possibly the most aggresive rider around today, possibly too aggresive but to call him a cheat in this way is like saying Bill Gates can't operate a computer !
  18. Nicki revels in the role of the villan and has earnt the tag through his own actions in the past. I agree that it wasn't his fault last night, it was the referee that made the mistakes and Nicki can't be blamed for any of the incidents. As for a great servant to British Speedway, how has he been and maybe if he didn't try for more money than any other rider he would still be riding here as he was approached by at least two teams about his availability. As a rider, I admire his skill and bravery but his actions and attitude to fellow riders have let him down too much. I didn't boo him last night, just had a few chuckles at how many times he ended on his butt.
  19. AFTER ROUND 5 - Cardiff - TOP 8 2008 GP LEADERBOARD 80 1 Nicki PEDERSEN DK 70 3 Jason CRUMP AUS 64 6 Greg HANCOCK USA 62 4 Tomasz GOLLOB POL 49 2 Leigh ADAMS AUS 48 5 Hans ANDERSEN DK 46 10 Andreas JONSSON SWE 41 15 Fredrik LINDGREN SWE
  20. Have to say the choice of music was great When Nicki was having his accidents, the music was "Bad Boys, Bad Boys .. What you gonna do" then "He's a Scumbag" and then in the semi-final as he gotto his feet ...."I'm a Winker (misprint) ... Nice Jason Crump won a race ..."We're off to see the Wizard .... The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" As for the crowd, I would say it was up on last year. The home straight had plenty of seats on the upper level free, but otherwise the stadium was pretty full, so I would estimate close to 45-50,000 there. PS; Finally met the legends that are Shazzybird and Seb the Snail
  21. The track is a disgrace Yes ..... Got to watch the replay after just getting back but although there was some ruts, it didn't seem that bad and many mistakes werre done by entering too fast on the wrong line. In all there was some great races, but the track preparation after 20 heats has to be questioned. Why for the Semi-Finals and Final did they grade the dirt off the inside and push it to the outside line ? Was it something to do with Bomber and Nicholls being in seperate races The difference being Nicki knew he would not be in any re-run. In the others, he got away with a few, but its the age old ploy of .... they cant put the 2 mins on while a rider is on the track ... meanwhile his pit crew rush his bike back to clean out the clutch, re set it etc etc. Time Wasting The fact he got straight up, ran to his bike and cleared the track proved in a few split seconds there was no serious injury. The initial reaction was the same as any crash, but after two seconds and he is up running, then the jeers were only directed at possibly the most disliked rider the sport has seen for many a year. Great final and a truly remarkable piece of bravery and great riding from Crumpy to edge out Herbie to lift the title. Leigh Adams was wrongly excluded and it cost him a semi-final place, but poor Bjarne was excluded and it cost him a place in the final and a golden chance to win the meeting and go into the big German race. Thats some serious money by being excluded after showing great riding skills all night.
  22. Don't need to as I should have a bright Orange/Black jacket with my username on it Setting off Saturday Morning, breakfast at McDonalds, lunch at KFC, meal at Fish N Chip shop ..... May get home in time for a Curry ...... this diet is costly .... but its working
  23. If 7 go through, I will go for 2 KING Daniel ACU Great Britain 3 HOLDER Chris MA Australia 4 KORNELIUSSEN Mads DMU Denmark 7 SULLIVAN Ryan MA Australia 8 STEAD Simon ACU Great Britain 10 B. MONBERG Jesper DMU Denmark 11 SITERA Filip ACCR Czech Republic Shame Fredrik Lindgren can't make it as he would have made the top seven, but he has also pulled out of Poland tomorrow as well.
  24. Got more chance of Wolverhampton winning the league and the KO Cup this year Neither have won a heat, but you have them down as 1st and 2nd ..... "Its the way you tell em"
  25. We have a GP Competition, we have many threads about the GP's, but Cardiff is special and every year many of us head to the Welsh capital to make it a weekend break. Last year the meeting was the best one held there with Bomber winning in the final few yards. However, that was last year ... Who will win this Year ? Although he has never done brilliant at Cardiff, I think Nicki will will this one to extend his lead and book his place in the Super Prix race. 1st ... Nicki Pedersen 2nd ... Jason Crump 3rd ... Fredrik Lindgren 4th ... Greg Hancock
