Changing Of The Guard
T.N.T. replied to T.N.T.'s topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Fredrik Lindgren remember is only in his 2nd season of the GP Series having finised 9th last year. He was granted a Wild Card into the Series having missed out in the GP Qualifier in the race offs. Bomber by my recall has been nominated 5 times now and the closest he came was 9th when he lost out to Nicholls and Holta in a run-off. As for the nominations at the end of this years Series, well Freddie may well need a nomination as he has failed to transmit league form into GP form but there will be some very good riders outside the top 8 and arguably it should be the top 10 bought back plus 3 qualifiers and then 2 wild cards. Outside of those in the Series at present, there is possibly on Matej Zagar that could justify a call up while riders like Pavlic, Janowski, Ward etc are a little bit off that capability at present. Can't see Sweden having just AJ in the Series any way and Freddie is much better than any other Swede, so he should be nailed on to return in 2011. If form doesn't improve it will be interesting to see if Greg decides to carry on or maybe he will come back into league racing and a farewell year in England ? -
Yes they do charge face value and even at 5.05pm the will not lower the price. PS; Hope you enjoyed the tickets ..... it was £30 for the two

Riders used to take the spoilers out on wet tracks because in the turn the dirt is pushing against it but without it, the dirt gets moved either sideways or goes through causing less drag. Think the spoilers used by Fredrik Lindgren now are much safer especially in first bend incidents when riders can easily fall with their hands hitting another riders rear wheel on the way down.

That would be great but I could just imagine SCB or Silver Bee trying to get over the finer points of the rule book to some 6'5" Pole after Gollob has been excluded for bringing down Bomber !!! ..... It would have to be two people with good humour, polite speaking, not biased, respect the sport, acknowledge the qualities of ALL riders and from any country. That rules out fans from Poole, Coventry, Swindon, Peterborough, Lakeside, Eastbourne, Ipswich and Belle Vue ..... Me and Stevebrum it is then !!!! -
Changing Of The Guard

Well after last nights brilliant GP in Torun, both Gollob and Hampel have made a big gap on third placed Kenneth Bjerre with Jason Crump 20 points behind Tomasz. While we are only approaching the half way stage, I would say only injuries will stop there being at least one Pole on the final rostrum and every likelyhood there will be a new World Champion this year although Cardiff could see Crumpy pull some back if last year is anything to go by. 1st Tomasz Gollob 78 2nd Jaroslaw Hampel 75 3rd Kenneth Bjerre 59 4th Jason Crump 58 5th Rune Holta 48 6th Andreas Jonsson 46 7th Hans Andersen 46 8th Nicki Pedersen 44 9th Chris Holder 41 10th Magnus Zetterstrom 37 11th Chris Harris 36 12th Greg Hancock 34 13th Fredrik Lindgren 33 14th Emil Sayfutdinov 27 15th Tai Woffinden 22 -
As the Millenium Stadium holds around 70,000 for Speedway and the attendance at best is around 50,000 then there are always tickets available on the day. If you are near the Prince of Wales looking down the road towards the pits entrance (Westgate St), there is a little ticket office on the right hand side where tickets are always available. I always get mine on the day unless I have bought tickets off people that can no longer go and have already bought theirs.

Camera speed ..... Bikes coming from the side would result in a blur You need a fast action camera positioned to the side and high above the starting gate, as they do in the Greyhounds. Havent seen anyone else mention the so called "Photo Finish" results, but I got them all right .... apart from Hampel v Holta as I'm pretty sure Hampel won that one, but because his front wheel was lifted, it gave a false view as on camera his front wheel is in the air when they are looking at which wheel hits the white line first This in theory changes who goes in which semi-final -

Collins, Morton, Jessup, Lee, Louis, Betts, Simmons, Ray Wilson, Kennett, Lee, Boocock ..... all big hitters in the 70's early 80's not to mention Pusey, Wyer, Reg Wilson etc etc Your wrong ! Monmore Green has the advantage of having numerous race lines although the two main ones used are either tight to the kerb or blast around the apex of the bend (roughly 2 yards from fence). There is always plenty of dirt on the track and even when its slick it has more grip than many other tracks. This means riders are not used to grippy tracks and set up to get out of the gates quicker. When they exit a turn, they pull hard on the gas and often this causes them to lift. Some riders like Lewis Bridger and Tai Woffinden can often be seen going down the back straight on one wheel, especially when they come off bend 2 on the inside which always has loads of grip if you hit the right line .... (ie ... Karlsson's Corridoor) As for other tracks preparation .... You MAY be correct ? -
British Final And Semi Finals
T.N.T. replied to gypilgrim's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
So the comments on this thread lead you to the following views So there are not 10 - 12 riders that are of the standard that could win the title (like the 70's/80's) The track was grippy and well maintained which led to good racing An increase of foreign riders in the PL means any PL riders are of a weaker standard to thos of years ago The track was grippy and well maintained which led to good racing The referee made some howlers The track was grippy and well maintained which led to good racing Chris Harris was unbeaten in all his races .. (he stayed on the bike) The track was grippy and well maintained which led to good racing Bomber and Nicholls were clearly head and shoulders above the rest The track was grippy and well maintained which led to good racing Well Done to King, Barker and Robson on some great performances The track was grippy and well maintained which led to good racing There was plenty of passing, good interviews and a good viewing for the sport PS The track was grippy and well maintained which led to good racing Anyone reading this post will know straight away .... The meeting was held at MONMORE GREEN , Wolverhampton !!! -
British Final And Semi Finals
T.N.T. replied to gypilgrim's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Totally disagree, Scott getting the Wild Card was the best result for British Speedway as he is the only real Brit that can compete in a GP presently not in the Series and Barker and King will learn more from being kitted out in the kevlars on the day taking in the atmosphere and giving them a glimpse of what they could have in the future if they stay committed. -
British Final And Semi Finals
T.N.T. replied to gypilgrim's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Its called dirt !! There was nothing wrong with the track, it had plenty of grip on it and most riders had set them selves up to get out of the gates more than the top end power so in the turns their bikes were finding grip and they found it hard to control. After watching Ben being almost carried into the stadium last year, it looks like the takings may be down a bit in some of the public houses in Cardiff now he is meeting reserve !! Overall, Bomber and Scott showed that they are head and shoulders above the rest of the pack tonight and I'm pleased it was those two that filled the top 2 places. Well Done to Ben Barker who rode well and Stuart Robson who rode like that earlier in the season at Monmore with Lakeside. Ed Kennett was ok but not up with the big three as Daniel King for me was one of the best on parade and its good he gets to expierence the Cardiff atmosphere as a reserve. Bridger has no one but himself to blame tonight. Dropped vital points that would have placed him in the semi's ... a wiser head on his shoulders may have seen him through and a possible final place that ensures a trip to Cardiff. -
Yes there is a topic asking if people have recieved theirs yet, but this is different and may help out a few forum members too. Every year I buy my ticket on the day as there is always some available and wherever you sit the view is fine. However I have in the past also bought tickets off forum members that either can't attend or have a member of their party now cancelled. Therefore this thread is to help those with Spare tickets get at least some money back and also let people like myself and many more that usually buy them on the day get hold of a ticket that helps others out. So has anyone got any spare tickets ?

British Final And Semi Finals
T.N.T. replied to gypilgrim's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Had really heavy rain falls today and there are some scheduled for tomorrow too. The Wolves track can take a good amount of water so if the rain mainly misses WV2 tomorrow the track should be excellent for the final with plenty of grip to suit the racers like Bomber, Scott, Bridger and Steady. Still have a weird feeling that Oliver Allen could spring the suprise in this one -
Changing Of The Guard
T.N.T. replied to T.N.T.'s topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
With a possible 27 points available in each GP, a few big scores could turn around quite a few riders chances this year as out of a possible 108 points the current leader has just 60 points so far and a 20+ haul from Holder, Lindgren, Hancock etc will be back in the frame. With 3 Polish GP's I think the title this year will go to a new Champion from Hampel, Gollob and Jonsson. Certainly think Woffinden, Lindgren, Holder and Emil have to be included next season even if they miss the cut as the current line up is not too far off the top 15 in the world at present with possibly one or two exceptions. -
British Final And Semi Finals
T.N.T. replied to gypilgrim's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
OK, The British Final is on Monday and despite there being no Tai Woffinden or Lee Richardson, there is still quite a few that COULD lift the British Title and claim the Wild Card for Cardiff a month later. No doubt Bomber and Nicholls will start as the favourites with Scott clear favourite to get the WC place. However there is just cause to look at other contenders from the line up EDWARD KENNETT has to be in with a good chance of yet another Cardiff space but his last few appearances at Monmore haven't been great and his gating could let him down in the big final. SIMON STEAD has struggled at Monmore for the last few seasons and he would be a bit of a shock winner despite his recent good form. LEWIS BRIDGER has had quite a few good scores at Wolves and with a grippy track he could give Scott a run for the Cardiff ride. One to watch here if up for the challenge. DANIEL KING may have to beat Ashworth first but last Monday saw him give Lindgren a run for his money on this track but he also had to admit second best to little Lindgren too so its which King turns up in each race that counts here. Won his U18 title here a few years back. OLIVER ALLEN may not have been a prolific scorer at away tracks in recent times but his scores at Monmore are quite impressive and if he is fit and ready he could be a good dark horse here. If you can get an E/W bet on him you may get a decent return ! -
Danish Grand Prix 05/06
T.N.T. replied to rocketrod's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I would say injuries have held him backj in previous years but now he is coming of age and as the usual faces dont match up each GP, then he could easily win the title. As it looks like the new faces are pushing forward, I too would love Gollob to lift the title as a just reward for the years of action he has given the speedway fans with his racing. Hampel, Holder, Lindgren etc have years ahead of them still Apart from thos ruts on the outside which made some riders try different lines to avoid them, it was a decent GP in the end and shows that these man built tracks can work. Hope they use a good surface for Cardiff ..... as they use British track staff, will they get Doc Bridgett involved at Cardiff as he is possibly the best around these days as results have shown week in week out, year in year out. -
So far in the 2010 GP Series, only Tomasz Gollob of the older brigade has really shown up while defending Champion, Jason Crump (Age 34) struggles to make Semi Finals, Nicki Pedersen is being passed and missing the cut, while Greg Hancock is looking well off the pace and slower from the gate. Is this old age catching up with them or simply as Sky TV commented, The Changing Of The Guard ? Jaroslaw Hampel (Age 28) leads the series after winning in Copenhagen, 3rd in Czecho and 2nd in Poland for the European Final. On 60 points he is 5 points clear of Czecho winner, Kenneth Bjerre (Age 26) who has been brilliant in every round so far. Gollob is back in third on 54 points but there is then an eleven point gap to Jason Crump and Andreas Jonsson (Age 29) who at least in the last two GP's has looked excellent and one of the quickest around and on current form looks the most likely to challenge the present top three, all of whom have yet to be crowned World Champion ! Nicki Pedersen (Age 33) looks a remote distance from the rider that has lifted three world titles and when he is struggling to score a hand full of points then the younger riders are stepping in to fill the gaps. With Chris Holder (Age 22) looking fast, Emil Sayfutdinov (AGE 20) already shown last season ewhat he can do and Fredrik Lindgren (Age 24) who keeps completing 4 riders each GP and missing the cut, is surely going to get higher in the rankings as the season goes on. Tai Woffinden (Age 20) is starting to show signs of mixing it with the best and in Denmark beat Crump, Pedersen and Gollob in one race with ease and with the lack of British World Class riders, he will surely get a nomination next year if he continues to improve. Notice also that young Emil's injury forced him to miss last nights GP and was replaced by a 35 year-old ...... who failed to score !! Although there is only FOUR rounds gone, some things are looking odds on with the bookies 1 ~ The Winner of the World Title in 2010 will be a first time winner ! 2 ~ At least one present rider over the age of 30 will miss the 2011 Series ! 3 ~ Chances are a former World Champion in the series now may be missing the 2011 Series ! 4 ~ After 2 continous years of a 19 year-old recieving a Wild Card nomination, chances are another teenager will be drafted in next year too ! 5 ~ After 37 years of waiting ..... Poland could have a World Champion once more ! Here is to the next decade of Hampel, Bjerre, Jonsson, Lindgren, Holder, Sayfutdinov, Woffinden and prospects like Ward, Janowski etc coming into the Series and form The Changing Of The Guard !!

TEAMS IN THE ELITE LEAGUE = 10 Belle Vue, Birmingham(NEW), Coventry, Eastbourne, Ipswich, Lakeside, Peterborough, Poole, Swindon, Wolves. Each week (starting second week in April) teams are paired up to compete in one home and one away meeting each. After 9 weeks (ending June 12), ALL teams will have ridden 18 league matches. The weeks remaining in June are used up with KO Cup matches, postponed meetings, challenge matches etc. NEW AVERAGES SET - Averages are issued after ALL A fixtures completed (no later than June 19) and come into effect on June 20th with any transfers using the new averages but teams can only use their new 1-7 from July. From July 4th, ALL teams pair off again to ride their 18 B Fixtures. This takes you to week starting September 12th when KO Cup Semi Finals are held. Week starting September 19th, Play-Off Semi Finals Week starting September 26th, Play-Off Final Week starting October 3rd, KO Cup Finals Obviously some tracks have the same race night, so these clashes are arranged for Bank Holidays ... eg, Belle Vue v Wolves 11am or Good Friday. Although the finer points need working out, using this system ALL teams rebuild at the same time ... ALL riders get new averages at the same time ... League tables are more level with teams riding the same amount of home and away matches at the same time. Is there any reason that this can't work ? If so surely it could be worked out to make the playing field level for ALL teams. Suggestions ... Ideas ...

Cheap Air Horns For Cardiff & Swc

They are much like Home Bargains and I went into the one in Hanley today where they had these Air Horns on sale along with other ENGLAND merchandise like Inflatable balls, hands and flags. They have a store in Stafford on the Queens Retail Park but I'm not sure if they are Nationide or mainly Staffordshire / Cheshire based ?
