  1. The British Champion (or runner up to Bomber) will be the Wild Card at Cardiff. That may be Scott Nicholls, Ed Kennett, Tai Woffinden or Daniel King and whoever gets it will have earnt the place fair and square.
  2. Naming Fredrik Lindgren, Chris Harris, Scott Nicholls, Peter Karlsson, Tai Woffinden, Adam Skornicki and Ty Proctor is all that was needed to know really. There were other riders lined up like David Howe, but Scunthorpe decided to hold a home meeting that night and he had to pull out. Jan Holub was another down to ride but opted out. If Wolves had named the full line up, there would have been a few changes and to prevent that, the basics were only released ..... but Those named were going to make sure it was a meeting worth watching. Track was fine, considering most riders won races from an extra 20 yards back, times were always around the 56 or 57 seconds. Should have been there the week before .... 30 heats starting at 7.30 and finishing at 9.50 with an interval inbetween Brilliant night again from Freddie apart from his rare fall. He went to take a wide line around Scott, having passed him on the inside the previous lap, but Scott went wider than anticipated and Freddie at full power attempted to switch back, but as he locked he hit some grip and it flung him off. He thought his chance had gone but when I showed him the heats ahead, he just had to keep wining and hope results went his way ... which they did and yet again beat Bomber to another title. (Weird how Bomber changed into his Bees kevlars after Freddie's fall) Wolbert was again impressive with him only dropping points to regular Wolves riders in Woffinden, Freddie, Proctor, Skornicki and the legendary PK and beat Bomber and Scotty along the way. It may be at the cost of a crowd favourite, but Wolbert would certainly fit in well at Wolves with his style and modest average (... if conversion from league to league stays the same)
  3. But did he not ride the tail end of one season, not do enough meetings to get an average and therefore start the following season on a 4.00 average 1
  4. MOST tracks would have done .... Not All !!! All this reminds me so much of a certain Mr Lindback's start over here
  5. Wolves end their season at Monmore Green tomorrow night with the Olympique where Freddie will be out to defend his title and show off the ELRC Title with Bomber also in the line up. Nice One Freddie .... Top Banana
  6. 2 out of the top 3 ain't bad ..... shame you missed Fast Freddie
  7. Bees wouldn't have made the final ! Regards next season ..... I personally don't think Pawlicki will be back on a 4.00 average! If they opt to give him a new average, maybe they could add his play off scores
  8. Of course you would feel gutted after leading the league table from day one and not even being chased by any real threat. For a team to come along, change their line up and the title you would feel annoyed. However ! You would have to look at the bigger picture too. Poole had every option to off load Mroczka as his form dipped, but they chose not too and therefore kept Madsen at reserve ... just like Pawlicki at Coventry. Therefore you have to look at the forward thinking of the Coventry Management and applaud them for keeping Pawlicki at reserve, along with Bridger who started the season as a heat leader to form a formidable back up pairing with Pawlicki showing his true potential at Wimborne Rd with a brilliant score. You would also have to look at the Poole Management and look at the mistakes they made at the end of the season. It was clear that Coventry were the team on a march and quite rightly, Poole opted to keep away from them in the play offs. However they then chose Wolverhampton instead of Peterborough. Had they looked, they would have seen that any meetings with the Bees v Wolves is going to be tight as the KO Cup shows where it was decided that Wolves went through on the very last part of the last lap after 119 previous laps hadn't really seperated them. Had Poole chose P'boro, they may not have been facing Coventry and while I am confident Wolves can keep with Coventry at Brandon, I very much doubt Wolves will ever get anything from Wimborne Rd and it would have been hard to see Wolves overcome Poole in the final. Also with Coventry on a roll, they then handed them the advantage by offering them the upper hand by staging the first leg at Brandon, letting Bees defend a lead from the first leg with tactical rides making it virtually impossible against the in form team. So to turn the situation around ...... One team played the rules and ensured they had the strongest team available ..... The other made big mistakes and both combined meant the team in form were crowned Worthy Champions .
  9. Q ~ Isnt there a limit on the number of meetings a #8 can ride in ?
  10. You are missing the point .... It was only given as an example RIDER A - Peter Smith - Averages 5.34 doubling up .... Averages 7.98 in the PL RIDER B - Trevor Jones - Averages 3.20 doubling up .... Averages 8.02 in the PL SCB seems to say that SMITH is allowed to double up but Carries a 5.34 average in the EL SCB then says JONES can't double up and if he moves up full time, then he will do so on his 3.20 EL average What I am saying is that the highest average should count, so JONES would move up on an assessed average of 4.01 ... not 3.20 .... thats roughly the situation regarding Auty as SCB seems to think he will be a 3.00 rider in the EL where as I think he would be on half his PL average around 7.70. Schlein will never be in the same bracket as KK who has GP experience ... Bridger started the season as a heat leader, not a reserve ... so Star Rider for Heat Leader and Heat Leader for dodgy reserve ! Quite frankly I think Rosco in his short time at Coventry has learnt from the Master of the Rule Book, Colin Pratt who knows every trick in the book. According to the rule book, Coventry havent broken any rules and they have built there team to perfection for the run in and I applaud them for that and congratulate them on a job well done. I will say however that I think Pawlicki will be given either a 5.00 assessed average next season or his 6.18 average from 11 matches completed where he rode in 53 races ... thats an average of nearly 5 a meeting and based on averages being set for an average of 4 rides per meeting, he has ridden the amount of races he would have completed in 13 matches ... so that could be seen as having ridden enough rides, regardless of the amount of meetings. Also the 5.00 assessed average may well be given to more new foreigners as the level will be changed to those that have gained a 5+ average in Poland or Sweden instead of the current 6+ average ... should that happen then Pawlicki would be a 5.00 rider just like Grezgorz Zengota and Maciej Janowski were set at Swindon. Whatever his average is, Coventry will be a formidable team again if they can keep KK, Bomber and Pawlicki with possibly Barker and Kennett as a strong top five that will leave 7.00 upto 8.20 for the reserves. Would be good that Coventry and Wolves could only make one change to this years line ups to compete again next season .... Poole have to lose at least two riders !!!
  11. Maybe it was a Polish bird charging too much ? Seriously though, they are both young, in a big city and ONE of them had a few drinks in him and ONE didn't .... ONE got a beating ... the other didn't
  12. Got Laurel & Hardy on this one now then Ok Boys .... You are saying that next season Josh Auty can double up on a 3.00 average ! Can a rider double up then even if they average 8+ in the PL as long as they have a EL average ? Lets say for example, Josh Auty actually averaged 9.70 for Sheffield, then he could double up still as he has a 3.00 EL average, despite the fact he has a PL average over 8 points a match !! On the other side, what if a riders has an EL average of 5.15 but only a PL average of 7.02 .... Can he still double up and on what average would he have in the EL ? (Doubling up or full time) Over to you Boys !
  13. WRONG SCB The highest average counts .... Thetrefore Haines and Auty have higher EL averages next year due to their PL Averages. If you really think Auty will be a 3.00 rider next season, then answer this one .... Had he averaged 8.58 in the Premier League then what average would he be given if he decided to ride for Coventry ? 3.00 or 4.29 Pawlicki is a Bees asset as he has ridden more than 12 matches for Coventry .... just that only 11 were league !!
  14. Didn't Antonio Lindback ride a certain amount of matches on a 4.00 average at the end of a season, but not enough to change his average for the following season ? Adrian Gomolski ... Kryzystof Kasprzak ... David Ruud ... Robert Kosciechea ... Coventry were well within their rights to use a #8 to cover for Pawlicki at Swindon but its amazing that Coventry signed him in May and he missed the first meeting he was in and they had to use Summers in that meeting at Wolves on May 11th. 11 3 May Wolverhampton A ELa L 38 56 ............ July 1st and 8th they had cover for him missing ... Missed three league matches in August Yes he has had injuries but as he rides in other countries, individuals, championships then its no suprise people are questioning his availability and I know even a few Coventry fans that just didnt know when he was riding or missing. Totally wrong figures ..... Joe started with a 3.31* average at the start of the season and has averaged 2.58 from his 11 matches with Wolves this year, However, Joe is in the same situation as Josh Auty is in. In the Premier League he has averaged 7.49 while Auty has averaged 7.78 .... take the 2.5% deduction and next season as doubling up riders or full time, they will carry 3.65 and 3.79 EL averages.
  15. Another possible proposal .... no guest or r/r facility for riders with assessed averages ! Would a team want a rider averaging six points a match to go missing if there is no cover allowed.
  16. I have heard about this a few weeks ago and have heard a few views on what is likely to be proposed at the AGM. One option is that the rule regarding riders averaging 6.00 or over in the Swedish or Polish top league gets a 5.00 average, this may well be changed to 5.00 in those leagues or even 4.00 as riders of the standard of Lindgren, Iversen, Harris, Batchelor and many more havent even averaged six points a match in Poland. Another is that a rider that rides in 11 matches will be given three pointless rides on their average as a way of replacing the missing match, meaning Pawlicki will go from 82 pts from 53 rides at 11 meetings = 4.00* too a new average of 82 points from 56 rides from 12 meetings, giving him a new average of 5.86 (would have been 6.19) There definatley seems to be plans in place that will stop teams using riders for a second season still on assessed averages .... which way they do it remains to be seen ?
  17. Don't think Shamek will be back on a 4.00 average ..... it will be reassessed Wolves hold the Olympique next week with Bomber in the line up ..... maybe BB (Baby Elvis) will be there too ?
  18. Monday 11th October .... Monmore Green .... Tai has 9 rides ... wins 6 ... second in 2 .... last in 1 looked good on the track ..... even better off it with not a blemish on him .... not even a black head !!
  19. Who would have thought though that a speedway giant like Sweden dont have any riders in the top 8 ..... so Britain have done well and have done just as the Danes have done with only 1 top 8 rider !
  20. I would say another year in the GP Series would do nothing but help him in the long run as you can only get experience by riding in these meetings. However .... The GP Series should really be the top 15 riders battling for the World Title and at present I wouldn't put TAI in that group of riders when you consider riders like Kasprzak, Andersen/Kolodiej, Zagar, Nicholls, Iversen, Bjarne Pedersen, Watt, Ward etc etc are not even in that group of elite riders. Tai will no doubt concentrate on league racing next year and his time will come again.
  21. Have to take your hat off to Bomber this year. After another poor start to the season, he has really stepped up to be a World Class rider in league and GP's and fully deserves a top 8 finish which could of been top 4 had results gone slightly the other way. Wonder if he would have made the top 8 had Ole Olsen still been doing the tracks ?
  22. Think the Polish play-off really clears up any doubt about who should be in the GP's when it comes to Andersen v Kolodiej. 1. Jaroslaw Hampel - 1, 1, 3, 2 = 7 2. Troy Batchelor - 2, 2, 0, 3, 1 = 8 3. Janusz Kolodziej - 3, 3, 3, 3, 3 = 15 4. Damian Balinski - 2, 2, 1, 3, 3 = 11 5. Leigh Adams - 3, 2, 3, 2, 1 = 11 6. Jurica Pavlic - 3, 1, 1, 1 = 6 7. Slawomir Musielak - 1, 0 = 1 1. Chris Holder - 3, 1, 0, 2, 2 = 8 2. Wieslaw Jagus - 0, 0, 2, 0 = 2 3. Adrian Miedzinski - 1, 3, 1, 1, 0 = 6 4. Hans Andersen - 0, 0, 0 = 0 5. Ryan Sullivan - 2, 3, 2, 2, 1, 1 = 11 6. Emil Pulczynski - 0, 0 = 0 7. Darcy Ward - 2, 0, 0, 1, 0 = 3 Read more: http://speedwayupdates.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=ekstraliga&action=display&thread=7109#ixzz11wo6Zn8f
  23. Don't think there is a single Wolves fan that thinks Tai deserves a nomination ahead of Janusz Kolodiej For me you have this years top 11 plus Emil and the 2 qualifiers in Laguta and Lindback. Thats 14 in with one place left. Janusz Kolodiej OR Hans Andersen Kolodiej has really come on in the last 18 months and winning the Polish Title and reaching the final in both his GP appearances this year gives him an excellent chance of getting the last place. Andersen has had a poor season, but he has also carried injuries and we all know he can beat the best on his day .... but should he get another chance ? Kolodiej only misses out on a GP place because Fredrik Lindgren passed him in a run-off, so at present he is the first reserve, getting the #19 race jacket with Magnus Zetterstrom at #20. ....... Thomas H Johansson #21 and Neils K Iversen at #22 Should these move up a place and give Kolodiej the #15 jacket instead of #19 ....... Head says YES ... Heart says NO
  24. Davey Watt is in his 30's ...... When will he be ready then Cant see the top 8 changing so Emil, Nicki, AJ and Hans to get the 4 picks making it the top 12 back in plus Emil and the two qualifiers in Artem Laguta and Antonio Lindback. Riding numbers to be the way they finish with Emil #13, Artem #14 and Lindback #15. #16 the wild card ... #17 and #18 the track reserves ... #19 Janusz Kolodiej who make shake things up tonight if he reaches the final and either AJ or Hans have a nightmare
  25. The same as Daniel Kings and higher than Peter Karlsson
