  1. With doubling up riders not riding in foreign leagues, it would look more like Ricky Wells and Ty Proctor sharing a team place in 2013 while Nicolai Klindt will be back or sent on loan again, possibly Swindon. With hopefully Tai and Freddie leading the team and Pontus at reserve, using Ricky/Ty would leave 16.08 for the last three places if the limit is set at 42.50. If Jacob Thorssell starts at reserve with Pontus then Wolves would be looking like a strong top five and a young but potential tail end with 13.08 fo the last two places. .... 7.33 Rory Schlein and 5.68 Nicolai Klindt would mean the team starting on 42.43 1 - Tai Woffinden 2 - Nicolai Klindt 3 - Rory Schlein 4 - Wells / Proctor 5 - Fredrik Lndgren 6 - Pontus Aspgren 7 - Jacob Thorssell would do for me
  2. Sowka would beat the likes of Gollob, Holta, Kasprzak, Kolodiej etc on a Sunday then turn up at Wolves and look slower than the mascot !
  3. Don't worry, Tai doesn't look like he s the only one thinking that way. IF ..... and notice the IF ..... If SKY do pull out of league racing, its unlikely you will see Chris Holder and/or Darcy Ward ride here without the money put into the sport ..... maybe Iversen will be thinking the same ? In a 24 team British League ..... there will be very few 8+ riders over here at the start.
  4. Wonder if some peoples thoughts on Tai may change if he ends up riding for them next season ? Both Tai and MJJ are quality riders and are on the boarderline of being top 15 ..... but who outside of the GP Series next year (barMJJ) is better than Tai, Kasprzak, Zagar etc ?
  5. Thats only an option if SKY pull out. There wont be the money around to carry on the Elite League as it is now and the 33 limit (example only) would be for 24 teams. You may even get to see MJJ ride ...... when Poole visit anyway
  6. Great to have Freddie confirmed for next year so early and with Ricky getting Rider of the Year, he is expected to join up as soon as possible too. What the rest of the team will be looks to depend on what happens with SKY SPORTS coverae of the sport. Wihout their financial support it would be vituay impossible now to have a competative Elite League as many tracks now depend on that money to keep the heads above water. Without SKY it would look like there could be an option of 24 teams entering a British League which would be split into two groups of 12. This only creates 11 home matches but with a KO Cup starting with 4 groups of 6 giving 5 more home matches and the 4 groups winners making the semi finals then there would be 16 home matches at least. Points limit would have to be set at a level where current PL teams could slightly strenghen up with a 6+ EL rider ...... so each team having something like a 33 point EL limit which means Wolves would have virtually the same team as the one that finished the season but with Tai replaced by Ashley Morris and Nicolai replaced by Joe Haines. 8.68 Fredrik Lindgren 5.79 Ricky Wells 5.53 Ty Proctor 3.36 Joe Haines 3.15 Pontus Aspgren 3.00 Jacob Thorssell 3.00 Ashley Morris 32.51 It may not look too attractive to EL fans but it woul mean the sport survives and a more varied fixture list with less repetative teams in.
  7. Back in the day when here were 16 riders lining up all from different teams, if a rider was missing then the next in line from that team took their place. .......... Obviousdly now they take one from each team and the best 5 of the rest regardless of team. MJJ is obviously in because Sundstrom 7.87, Sullivan 7.72 and Buczkowski 6.55 are not available and Panthers have to have one rider to represent them. As or not being good enough ...... MJJ 6.54 ..... Simon Gustafsson 6.44 ...... Ricky has actually averaged 6.30 (7.06) in 2012
  8. So why isn't Ricky Wells in the ELRC to replace him ?
  9. Not if ALL Elite League matches are ridden on set race nights ...... or Eastbourne also enter the Premier League !!
  10. May be reading into this wrong but why has Tai ridden in Poland recently but not appeared in the Olympique and isnt in the ELRC despite topping the Wolvs averages ? ....... (if he isnt in the ELRC then shouldn't his place be taken by another Wolves rider ie Ricky Wells as MJJ is in for Peterborough) The AGM will be interesting this year to see which way the league goes .... epecially if it loses the SKY coverage. If Sky dont back the EL then I cant see many top riders staying here as the money wont be around and many teams will be more well balaced rather than top heavy. Freddie should be back with his Testimonial meeting but can see Tai either giving England a miss or go to a track that can afford a top rider !! Freddie and Ricky in then ..... Tai ? ..... Proctor most likely to stay .... Nicolai to the PL ? ...... Pontus or Jacob at reserve ...... Miskowiak to return ? ...... Will Scott one day ride for Wolves ? ...... hope so
  11. Had a bad couple of years ? Moved up from a 7.2 rider to just under nine points a match, taken over the #1 race jacket at Wolves ahead of Freddie Lindgren and has an average a point higher than any other Brit ...... I'd say apart from injuries Tai has had a decent 2011 and 2012. Forget being a Wolves fan, coming from a speedway fan then I would say he is there on merit. A near 9 average in Britain and 123+15 points from 15 meetings in the Polish top league ...... not a bad record for a lad who turned just 22 in August MJJ is a great talent and likely to be crowned World U21 Champion and scored a creditable 161+25 from 22 meetings in Poland and scored well in Sweden too ..... but he averaged just 6.54 in England and only really hit double figures three times after moving into the main body of the Panhers team. At 20 years of age his time will come .... but not just yet Sadly my fear is that he may well sit out riding in England next year ...... think a lot may depend on who is backing him finacially as he may need the support of a good British sponsor. As for riding for Team Australia ...... Tai wants that British title and although he is good mates with the Turbo Twins and a number of Aussies, I dont think you will see him switch sides at all. Tai may or may not be riding for Wolves next season ..... he may well ride elsewhere !! ..... but I wish him the best for the GP Series and he knows as weall do that it's going to be very tough as ALL 15 in the Series next year are capable of beating each other ..... but he will give it a good go and may not make the top 8 but he will add some spice to the Series
  12. Scott nearly joined Wolves back in 1997 but Ipswich put together their super team and that kept him there. .... It has been said Scott was on a few options in different seasons but obviously nothing came of it ..... If Tai or Freddie dont return then I am pretty sure he will be in the minds of CVS and Pete regarding 2013 ..... but thats if one desnt return. Think with Tai he has 3 possibles ..... Wolves, ________ or not ride in Britain at all. .... Don't know now which one I would bet on ?
  13. Think you may find it in an old programme about Michelsen invited to ride in the Olympique ...... even I'm getting confused now but I think thats where it is mentioned but let's see what 2013 brings !! Before the Olympique I was adamant that the team next year would be built around Freddie and Tai again next season ..... now I'm not too sure and wouldn't be suprised if there was only one 8+ rider at Wolves next season ? If one of them is not back, will Scott Nicholls finally get to ride for Wolves ? Until the AGM and riders declare what they are planning next season will we know how the team lines up and under what rules and regulations but either way, it would be a suprise to see Nicolai Klindt back at Monmore and more likely to have another spell at Swindon where he was voted Rider of the Year. Ricky Wells has to be back and surely Wolves rider of the year in 2012 ..... is there any other candidate ?
  14. I for one would welcome Scott signing for Wolves as he is a 7.5 rider who is always top scorer at Monmore and loves the track. Wolves need to be back to being dominanatat home again if they have plans on being a play off team again and in the last two or three seasons there has been alot of close results and points dropped. Michelsen was injured in the last round of the World U21's and Oskar Fajfer was drafted in to replace him. Freddie didn't have to get a win in heat 20 to secure runners up spot, he only needed second place and could have let Kildemand go clear but he had a few bike problems and wasn't picking up speed so pulled up. ..... Freddie may be more disappointed to have already lost the title. As for the crowd, possibly the biggest crowd of the season and for me it was a pretty decent line up even with PK and Kennett being ruled out. Nicholls is a track specialist, King has had decent meetings around Monmore and Kildemand has been one of the leagues most improved riders this year while Ryan Fisher always goes well at Wolves. Add to them the terraces favourite, Adam Skornicki who can beat anyone on his day and home track riders Lindgren, Wells and Klindt and you have quite a few riders that can win races in this. Andrew Tully did himself no harm with some good races ..... couldn't catch a 51 year old but still scoredwell and Kevin Dooan looked better than his average suggests and both were good stand in's at the last minute. Aspgren and Thorssell did ok, picking up the odd point here and there while Tom Perry continues to impress and deserved more. Strong contender to be doubling up in the EL next year but who for ? The crowd however was always going to be good with Sam back ob the bike. Maybe a few thought he was going to hit the ground running after his recent rides in New York, but his first two rides were ridden with caution and it looked like the old magic had gone. Heat 12 starts and the young Pole spins on turn one and is run into by Tully and Perry ..... hopefully he will be okay. In the rerun, Tully looks to have the better of Sam, but the old boy is back and powers around him leaving turn two. Tully has a few goes to catch him but Sam ges clear and ready to celebrate a race win ...... but runs wide on turn four, clips the fence ..... but hangs on to win. Despite starting 10 yards back and the mistake on the final turn, he still clocks a time of 58.79 ...... Fisher won heat 7 in 58.80 and Heat 13 from the gate, Kildemand wins in 58.22 .. the final five races were all in 59+ Sam had some fun and that's all it was going to be for him ...... and despite a puncture and a bike problem in his last two, it was great to see the Magic is still there ....... sometimes !!
  15. Only going on what it looks like from results this season, I would take a GUESS that if the points limit stayed at 41 points the team could start domething like ...................... 8.18 Hans Andersen 6.98 Peter Kildemand 6.13 Maciej Janowski 5.81 Nicolai Klindt 5.78 Nick Morris / Simon Stead 4.83 Lasse Bjerre / ? 3.00 ? 40.71 If the limit does rise to 42 ...... maybe swap Klindt with Korneliussen ?
  16. While I am an avid Wolves fan and pleased to have witnessed Tai turn into the teams #1 rider, I have no doubt that he will struggle to get in the top 8 next season and quite frankly even the top ten. I will however defend him when people think he will be out of his depth. To me he has he same abilites of Zagar, Iversen and Vaculik ...... and on current form also Lindgren and Jonsson and although he may have some rounds where he scores low, he will also have some decent scores. .... Could he win a GP ? Yes ....... 7 or 8 points followed by a second place in the semi's and then one amazing ride in the final ..... as MJJ proved !!
  17. Michelsen along with MJJ and MBJ were all very sought after riders before the season started. MBJ and Michelsen were still finishing their schooling and declined any offers from England ...... so I would say all three were on everyone's radar for sometime. Michelsen is not in the Olympique on Tuesday, possibly because of a fall in the last round of the World U21's. The two "unknown" riders that are appearing are very unlikely to be in Wolves plans for next season.
  18. No Freddie ? Havent heard anywhere that he is not riding, but with Nicholls, Kennett, Kildemand etc in the line up it will still be a great meeting with Sam making the line up and not just to makw up the numbers
  19. The annual individual meeting, the BANK'S OLYMPIQUE at Wolverhampton Speedway takes place this Tuesday evening where riders are handicaped in their next ride if they have scored points. The meeting always features top riders, second strings and new riders and with the handicap system it always creates good races and plenty of passing. Club legend Sam Ermolenko, 1993 World Champion will be making a one off track appearance in the meeting ..... not a demonstration ride ..... actually in the line up after making a successful track return in New York in August. He will be joined by fans favourite, Adam Skornicki who will be making the trip over from his Leszno base and hopefully do his trademark dough nutsone more time. Coventry duo Scott Nicholls (British Champion) and Eddie Kennett, Birmingham skipper Danny King, Swindon’s Peter Kildemand and American ace Ryan Fisher who won the Gary Peterson meeting are also included along with Parrys International Wolves stars like Fredrik Lindgren, Nicolai Klindt, Ricky Wells, Pontus Aspgren and Jacob Thorssell. Hopefully Tai Woffinden will also be in the line up but Ty Proctor has had to return to Australia early to get treamnt on an old hip injury so he can be ready for the Australian Campionships. End of season firework finale will close the curtain on the 2012 Season Really looking forward to this one !!
  20. Someone asked a question ..... I answered it I have given examples of what was left but it doesnt say that they WILL be the riders coming in. As far as I can see, I would say the definate / most likely starters for Wolves next season are .... Tai Woffinden, Fredrik Lindgren,Ricky Wells, Mikkel Michelsen and Jacob Thorssell / Pontus Aspgren ..... who the other two places go to are very much depending on what happens at the AGM as to which way the team will go in my opinion. T Proctor could well feature .... possibly doubling up with Ricky Wells
  21. Depends on a few things ...... what they finish on as we still have one match to ride and also what restrictions ae put on team building strengths next season ..... ie points limit, 8+ riders etc At present we have ... 8.80 Tai Woffinden 8.68 Fredrik Lindgren 5.79 Ricky Wells 5.68 Nicolai Klindt 5.53 Ty Proctor 3.15 Pontus Aspgren 3.00 Jacob Thorssell 40.63 So signing the six you mention using a 41 point limit eaves you just 6.05 ...... Miskowiak is 6.07 !!! Personally I think the limit may be raised to 42 next season and Mikkel Michelsen will be at reserve on a 4.00 average which would mean only one from Pontus and Jacob would be back ..... unless they double up together !!! 8.80 Tai Woffinden 8.68 Fredrik Lindgren 5.79 Ricky Wells / Ty Proctor 4.00 Mikkel Michelsen 3.15 Pontus Aspgren / Jacob Thorssell That would leave 10.58 (41) or 11.58 (42) for the last two places sadly already out of the equation is Jacob Thorssell at #7 and PK at #4 one good option however would be Scott Nicholls along with either another 4.00 rider (Kling/Ludvig) or Jacob Thorssell personally I would rather see ..... Woffinden, Lindgren, Wells/Proctor, Klindt, ............, Michelsen, Thorssell In the gap ideally would be Dudek or Zmarzlik 5.00 ..... however Stuart Robson / Daniel Nermark doubling up o Patrick Hougaard would be decent options. Yes there would be riders that never had great 2012 seasons, but we all know they can do better so rather than potential it more a case of belief they can get back to what they were ..... better
  22. I too went for AJ to come good along with Crumpy ...... nearly went for Gollob and the inform Lindback See you all next year
  23. After a long ard season of Grand Prix racing we finally crown a new champion. It went down to the wire but as he night came to an end it was clear the most talented, handsome, unbelievable style and flare came out on top and deservedly clinched the title ........ It's all for a bit of fun and next seaon looks like its going to be even tougher when you consider who is leaving the GP's and who is coming in ..... No more Bjarne, Lung, Hans, Bomber or Bjerre ..... Hampel and AJ get to stay but in comes KK, Zagar, Iversen, Vaculik and ..... ...... and not forgetting the other Turbo Twin So thanks for those that kept it going and until next seasons Series gets under way ...... UP THE WOLVES !!! we cant get much lower !!
  24. He had a 2 point lead going into the final round at Torun but going into the Semi-Finals his lead was up to six points and he was drawn in the same heat as Nicki Pedersen Nicki had to win or be runner up Semi Final 2 and force Holder out of the final ..... then had to WIN the final !!! With Gollob, Vaculik and Lindback all going well, it was an uphill battle which was too much of a climb for Nicki WELL DONE CHRIS ...... A Well Deserved Champion 2013 WORLD CHAMPION CHRIS HOLDER RUNNER UP NICKI PEDERSEN THIRD GREG HANCOCK (THANKS REF )
