  1. He was lined up for the Olympique when he was 16 but got injured prior to it however he has certainly progressed in tougher opposition this season and along with Bernzton and Milik it shows that there are still good youngaters coming through and given the chance. Would be great if Max Rumi gets a PL berth next season which would give them four young Americans based over here
  2. LEADERBOARD after CARDIFF 740 - 590 = Pantherman 730 - 615 = Icescott 725 - 725 = Referee Rick^ 660 - 575 = Rico 645 - 480 = TNT 645 - 475 = INCOGNITO 605 - 490 = Pyscho3a 605 - 465 = Gray 585 - 470 = Hilly 580 - 450 = PTW 530 - 385 = JaimeE 510 - 375 = Gavan 485 - 400 = Waihekeaces 475 - 320 = Screm 330 - 270 = CJ69 MDMC82 scored 115 ---- RICO you scored 135 but I have not included the 50 for posting as it was after the scheduled start of the TV coverage so you scored 85 instead Hunty = mdmc82 .... score to be sorted ..... refereerick never posted Ommer Um has been taken out after missing third GP
  3. There WILL be an Elite League next season due to the following reasons Some only want to put on Speedway at the highest level and that means riders that are GP standard in teams The Premier League will carry on regardless of the sport and won't want 9 or 10 teams joining them The SKY money is needed and they want Elite League racing with Darcy, Tai etc There will still be riders wanting to ride here that are too strong for the Premier League However changes are needed and issues should be addressed to avoid the Elite League closing down Monday matches only Race Format changed back or a new system introduced Prices made more friendly to hopefully attract a larger crowd The sport pushed into the high street to promote it to new fans The help of the Premier League in setting up a British League with ALL teams Fast track riders reduced to just ONE per team My views in more detail are posted elsewhere and have been for years and each season these have become more clear that the sports needs these changes in order to move forward and I have passed this on to a few people.
  4. IF ...... If there is an Elite League next season with GP riders and 8+ riders in it then it has to be Monday or nothing as thats the only night SKY are interested in and without their money you are looking at one big Premier League. Yes Tai has had a poor season overall and Ty Proctor too but the main problem has been that the team never had the right balance from the start and not having a third heat leader has been a big problem, especially away from home. Tai was an obvious #1 and Jacob Thorssell had to be in from the start. That meant 13.81 was used and with Piotr Pawlicki signed up it would have left 11.19 for the last two had they been the first three to sign and for me missing out on Scott Nicholls was sadly the missing link and with a new 4.00 rider like Vaclav Milik or Oliver Bernzton would have been a strong line up. Even PK and a 3.00 rider would have been a good option to ensure you had numbers 1,3 and 5 sorted out with three big scorers like Kings Lynn and Poole who I think will be the eventual winners. Both not only have three food heat leaders but both also had second strings on modest averages like Lambert and Milik while Kings Lynn have benefitted a lot from their reserves. So as for next season, it's hard to see what the best line up or balance will be as the race format will almost certainly change and I think it may change to just one draft rider but at least if possible we will have Tai on a sub 8 average and PK on a sub 7 average along with Pawlicki as the top dog in averages. However there could be big changes and personally feel to get a strong top three like that the EL would have to move to meetings just on a Monday to please the riders and Sky and Jacob again has to be signed up straight away. This is hard on Ricky who has done more than what has been required and a final 6+ average will show rhat
  5. Kings Lynn are obviously favourites and will finish top but I still think that Poole will come strong when required and win the play offs. Lakeside and Coventry to lose in the semi finals Will be interesting to see if those four teams have the same riders come the crunch !!! 6. With averages the way they are and the points limit there is no room to do anything dramatic and can only be like for like unless you rebuild the whole team. While he hasn't had a great season here, would you really think about dropping the World Champion on a modest 7.5 average ? Ricky Wells is back over a 6 average, yes he has easier rides than last season but he is scoring well Jacob Thorssell is progressing into a great rider and is only 21 this week Piotr Pawlicki is out of this conversation as he is clearly the one bright part So that only leaves Ty Proctor who hasn't done what was needed and with the other four either doing their job or in the case of Tai capable of so much more, you can only replace Ty with like for like Peter Ljung 5.48 would be good but he isnt committed to England .... unless he fell out with Leicester for another reason Ryan Fisher 5.42 does ok at Monmore and is local but currently injured Eddie Kennett 5.25 was a potential British Champion a few years ago but now is a Pemier League rider at best Yes we know PK is out of Lakeside now, but even if PK was shouting come and get me, you would have to also release Ricky or Jacob and bring in a 4.5 rider at best ....... PK four rides 6-7 points and a 4+ rider 4-5 points = 12 points Ricky and Ty have been doing that at home, maybe not away but at this stage of the season ...... and after anther home defeat I cant see it being worth releasing Ricky who has done his job so far. One problem we do have and it seems to be most seasons, Wolves are usually well ahead in fixtures ridden. At present we have done 23 already while the teams above are around 20. It's those teams that make changes when they have games in hand and finish stronger than they started ....... but having ridden more matches and gained less points it makes it virtually impossible to play catch up.
  7. Speedway in Britain could only survive with people coming through the gates but in other countries, especially Poland some have very good sponsors and those that turn up to watch is virtually the profit margin which explains why some teams have so many big earners in like Torun. Speedway in Britain needs people coming through the turnstiles but it most certainly needs the money from Sky to field riders of a certain standard and wage demands.
  8. Tai Woffinden 28 133 252 26 7.58 8.36 Piotr Pawlicki 25 124 227 18 7.32 7.90 Jacob Thorssell 28 122 185 11 6.07 6.43 Ricky Wells 28 121 181 19 5.98 6.61 Ty Proctor 28 114 153 22 5.37 6.14 Joe Jacobs 20 81 87 19 4.30 5.23 Tom Perry 7 30 27 5 3.60 4.27 Ashley Morris 16 63 70 12 4.44 5.21 Thats the 28 match averages but this season the averages are Piotr Pawlicki 20 99 196 15 7.92 8.53 46 race wins Tai Woffinden 23 109 197 24 7.23 8.11 36 Jacob Thorssell 23 98 149 7 6.08 6.37 21 Ricky Wells 24 102 155 13 6.08 6.59 23 Ty Proctor 23 93 113 13 4.86 5.42 12
  9. Why should a meeting of Wolves v Cradley Heath in the British League be a smaller crowd if its on a say a Friday when the teams could be something like Ricky Wells, Jacob Thorssell, Nicolai Klindt, Ludvig Lindgren, Ashley Morris, Joe Jacobs and Tom Perry Ryan Fisher, Ty Proctor, Jason Garrity, Max Rumi, Steve Worrall, Paul Starke, Max Clegg The admission wouldn't be as much as EL matches, kids would be more able to attend being a Friday, the racing is more balanced and the fact its a league match v Cradley should make it a not to miss meating. Costs wouldn't be as high and even matches like v Redcar or Edinburgh would be interesting especially if Wolves were top of the BL table and looking at the play offs. 5 -
  10. Max Fricke is in for Ty Proctor who aggrivated an injury yesterday
  11. Shame that we are not going to see Woffy or Pawlicki v PK but with Harris in for Tai and Nilsson replacing PK it shouldn't affect the result too much as both are weaker but Barker for Bridger should be an improvement for Lakeside. A number of riders are inconsistant for the Hammers so Watt could be 12 or 4 ..... Nilsson 8 or 2 ....... Bech the same
  12. EL matches would be mainly or always Mondays All other leagues would be on any night that track wishes apart from Mondays due to doubling up riders and at present there are no Monday PL tracks any way
  13. Tracks own their stadiums and they dont have various race nights so don't have to pay for as many flights to pay for and they also have bigger sponsors.
  14. The Tai article in the Speedway Star is not unlike other articles in the past from other riders and for a few years many riders have found the British schedule too hectic being on more than one race night in the Elite League and over the years we have seen many a rider drop the Elite League due mainly to the race nights like Pedersen, Hampel, Jonsson, Holder, Lindgren and many many more. For some they see British Speedway as a way of riding different tracks and earning extra money and if they can fit it in then they will. Some however want to ride here but it simply doesn't work out working in one place for half the money they can get in another place and have to rush through the night waiting and taking flights and sleeping in vans that is no real life for anyone, especially a professional sportsman riding a machine. Tai like many others want to ride here but if it means they are going to be drained mentality and physically through travelling across Europe and back in 48 hours for three different meetings then riding on different nights has to be dropped and stick with a reliable agenda of Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday racing with the odd Saturday night meeting has to be easier for travelling and for health. For years I have posted my ideas about how the leagues should have switched direction and in the past few years it has become more and more relevant that with a few changes over time these ideas need to be adapted more and more if British Speedway wants to see the top riders like Woffinden, Ward, Holder etc racing here and maybe even appearances from riders like Hancock, Sayfutdinov, Pedersen, Laguta etc. Basically you have an Elite League with about 8 teams on Mondays only which is what Sky insist on, a Premier League with the rest but these are split into two groups, North and South. Then you have a British League which is the center of the plan and rules in this league will determine most things as every track in the EL and PL builds a team to the same standard and these teams are split into two groups which are selected accordinjgly. The teams that with to enter the EL then have s Star Squad list which consists of 4 riders of which they can use any two along with 5 of their British League riders to compete in the Elite League. This means that all tracks have roughly the same amount of meetings at home and away but tracks competiting in the EL will have two teams of different standards to firld. Some may only want to watch the EL while some may want to watch both but with the chances of Woffinden v Hancock or Pedersen v Ward on the bill, I'm sure it would attract a decent crowd and in the British League the racing could be better as riders are of a more equal standing. The details I'm not going into here but I have this all done out and will be passing it on to a few people for their views and opinions and one will be Tai Woffinden.
  15. They can ride Mondays when SKY ask and pay money, so I'm sure they could do it 8-10 times a season as operating on one night would mean they would be away 8-10 times also so roughly one match each fortnight at home The other weeks will be taken care of with British League meetings where the big names wont appear and run on other nights Could you imagine the crowds on a Monday night if it was Wolves v Coventry featuring Woffinden / Lindgren v Hancock / Jonsson or Eastbourne v Poole with Nicki / Bjarne v Darcy / Holder ...... it's got to happen or it will be Premier League standard in both leagues
  16. Would be a little suprised if Kennett was coming in but on the other hand he is potentially a stronger rider away as he has ridden for most of them and has been a steady 7+ rider in his time and isn't exactly old now. At the moment it is only speculation but it does seem a bit of a coincedence that Daniel Giffard has placed on facebook that last nights meeting at Sheffield was his last meeting with Ty after seven years together. Don't know if Dan has a new full time job or something but if it turns out that Ty is to be replaced I hope riding for Sheffield gets him back on track as we know he can be a solid second string. As for Tai, he wants to carry on racing in England and for Wolverhampton but he like many others are finding racing in the Elite League on various nights is not only tiring but hard to arrange flights and have a decent life and diet as they are travelling to airports and hanging around so often for flights to and from England. Lets just see if a certain bit of paperwork that is being issued to the correct people will be looked at seriously and then hopefully we will still see riders like Tai and Darcy racing here and possibly appearances from riders like Greg Hancock Nicki Pedersen and Emil Sayfutdinov on some nights as long as its a set night like Monday's as Sky prefer that.
  17. While it is a shame with what has happened at Birmingham, to get to go to Wolverhampton on the Monday and Cradley on the Tuesday is a great compensation and hopefully keep them connected to the sport should plans for 2015 not take off. There are a number of Brummies fans that come to Monmore any way but for season tickets to be granted at many other tracks is a great showing by all the tracks taking part in backing the fans that had to wait so long to see the sport return to Britain's second city. It really is baffling how a city as big as Birmingham can't generate enough spectators to keep the sport going and hope it gets back on track next season with the right person and the changes needed to make it a better venture.
  18. Tai does not deserve any of the comments questioning his desire to ride here. He has a busy schedule and on the back of the British GP where he had so many media hype chasing him for interviews and appearances on top of his charity ride, he has now hit a wall and needs the break. He didn't want to let his teams down and all were told of the situation as soon as possible. He had blood tests taken to make sure it wasn't a medical problem and these results have come back saying how he could help regain full fitness and the main part is a complete rest which he will do in this country and not some beach far away. On winning the World title, he had offers from so many tracks and leagues and the chance to ride in Sweden alongside Emil was one he couldn't turn down and there was never any question on him missing Britain as he has some good sponsors here and friends and this has possibly made him review what he does next season. He didn't know if he would ever be World Champion again so needed to take the bookings to not only earn as much as possible but also to promote the sport which he has done more than any other rider I can think of and if he needs a few days off we should all be fully behind him and congratulate him on the work he has done so far and the £57,000 he has so far raised for GOSH. Well Done Tai and keep up the good work.
  19. Tai has had a busy period of late not only with meetings but also lots of media work with interviews, filming and guest appearances for sponsors and making himself available for the fans before Cardiff. One advantage Tai has over many other riders is that he really doesn't get nervous and can keep a cool head at most times but all the hype and pressure of Cardiff and the amazing response he got at Cardiff did get to him a bit and loved every minute of it but overall it left him drained and with travelling the next few days it took effect. He had blood tests done to check if it was anything medical and got the results on Tuesday night saying that he needs to rest for a few weeks and build up his strength. Fitness is not a problem with Tai as he has a great fitness regime but being on the move all the time he has had little sleep and not eaten the food he usually has and eaten foods that he doesn't usually have in his diet. He will now take a break until the World Team Cup and miss ALL meetings leading up to that and will be staying at home but will be around to help his team mates and friends in meetings he will miss during that time and if anyone that knows Tai will know that he doesn't like missing any rides let alone meetings. With Tai currently carrying a low average, Wolves will have a limited number of capable guests but in riders like Chris Harris, Scott Nicholls and possibly even Shamek Pawlicki, Wolves can still field a competative team. ..... Would be nice if we could have signed Peter Karlsson on a short term facility as our match on Monday is against Lakeside. As for the result at Kirky Lane, its no suprise that the Aces took all three points as Wolves rely heavily on the top two scoring big on away tracks, something that hasn't happened much this season. We have decent second strings but in meetings like these you really need a decent third heat leader. Pawlicki has been brilliant for Wolves and although he only managed 8 points, you can bet he battled for every point and soon will be the highest averaging rider in the Wolves team on a near 8 average. With Wolves having ridden 11 home meetings and just 5 left at Monmore, they are 3 points behind fourth placed Eastbourne but they have ridden just 10 home and dont drop many points around Arlington while Coventry in fifth have ridden just 7 home leaving 9 still to run and if Wolves were to challenge for the play offs they would need to win 3 or 4 of their five away fixtures and with visits to Eastbourne, Poole and Coventry its going to be unlikely. Belle Vue on the other hand are looking good really as they have TEN home meetings still to race and if they can get 25+ points in those meetings they should be up there come September but would seriously consider changing the riding order to Zagar, Toft, Cook, Worrall and Nicholls.
  20. Firstly I think Max Fricke is already lined up elsewhere and there are links to another young Australian who hasn't appeared over here yet. Secondly Tai Woffinden was never a Rye House asset and was simply doubling up from the National League and never signed a full contract. Wolves then signed him and loaned him back to Rye House as Tai wanted to improve and learn more at the lower level. Ricky Wells was bought last while money has been paid out to obtain the services of Nicolai Klindt, Joe Haines, Ashley Morris, Pontus Aspgren, Hynek Stichauer, Tyson Burmeister, Jacob Thorssell and of course Piotr Pawlicki as assets but before that was the transfer of Ty Proctor and Chris Kerr although both were bought over here to ride at Redcar for the then promoter Think Steve Evans may know about where certain young Americans may be heading and wouldn't be suprised if there was one lined up as a future Wolves asset. If Wolves are to make the play offs then they have to get two, three or possibly four away wins from here on in and win the remaining home matches. While Ricky and Ty are good second strings and in Ricky's case he has done little wrong, the only way Wolves will win away is to have three heat leaders like Tai, Piotr and PK at #3 with Jacob as the #4 alongside. Which 4.00 rider could fit the bill ? ....... long list but would seriously think about getting Ludvig Lindgren in as a doubling up rider. However would be suprised if such a move was done now and maybe that sort of line up is more likely to be seen in 2015 !!
  21. As it turned out we had a £68 ticket spare on the day but eventually sold it for £30 at 4.30pm and we decided to put any money we got back of it on a single bet for a race. As we already had a few bets on, we had to pick a new bet. At first we thought about putting it on Freddie but then though Greg would be the better bet. Sadly the one person that was a bit the worse for wear and now dressed as a daffodill did the random pick and chose Heat 7 and the Blue helmet colour Sadly that turned out to be Kenneth Bjerre ........ who finished last by a distance !!
  22. If it is July 14th I will be taking my second eldest son who will be 15 that day. Shame however if it is that date as it may clash with Bomber's holiday !!!
  23. Went last year to see Tai lift the title and look to be going again this year and see the same. Last year we had the 550zl tickets (£110 roughly) but will settle for cheaper tickets this time as like Cardiff the viewing is pretty good anywhere May try and do Lonigo or Gorzow before then but depends if I am going to the GP Challenge Final or not ...... may be helping a rider get bikes to the track in a 12 hour plus drive !!
  24. There are many different views on Cardiff over the years, some wont go because the track doesnt help good racing. Well some years have been better than others and it would be nice if the corners wern't so perfect so gaps could be left out of the turn or force riders to lock up a bit and help those in the dirt. For me I really enjoy walking through the city seeing fans from all over the place all enjoying the day and possibly ever rider has a few pounds put on him by some. Then of course you get those that have come from abroad to watch and the numerous hoards of red and white coloured gangs singing down the streets. I won't be down there til about 1pm this year but in the three hours prior to the meeting I will be loving every minute of it and hope everyone else has a great time ....... ps I am having Hancock 7/1 and an each way on Lindgren at 25/1 BRITISH GP - ENGLISH GP For me with some of the rubbish tracks that are dished up each season I can't see why we cant have one at Peterborough, Coventry or even see if its possible to hold one somewhere like the NEC or even the Olympic Stadium
