  1. The strength of the line up does not always reflect on the quality and entertainment of the racing and in the last few weeks there has been some excellent races involving six point riders or lower. Yes the crowds have been down but that is because of MISSING riders like Woffinden, Pawlicki and Doyle but if those line ups were the official teams and a more varied fixture list of different teams then I'm sure the crowds would be quite respectable for Wolves v Workington or v Cradley Heath in a British League meeting possibly at no more than £15. Elite League may rise to £20 ...... but the whole point was that entertainment can be obtained from lower order riders as proved.
  2. We don't know what strength the Elite League will be ..... How many teams ...... The race format ....... Averages to be used in 2015 ? It's all guess work at the moment but here are the main contenders for a team place next season. 9.5 chance of returning - JACOB THORSSELL = Without doubt the clubs next Super Swede following in the tyre tracks of Karlsson, Max and Lindgren and has progressed so much since first coming over where he struggled to stay on the track. 8.0 - OLIVER BERNZTON = Has already reached an agreement to ride for Wolves next season and unless there is something stopping him, I would think he will be on the team sheet with Jacob from day one. 7.5 - RICKY WELLS = Very good at home, maybe inconsistant away but since the return of PK it is clear that Ricky has more to offer than the legend. 7.5 - LASSE BJERRE = May be on loan or doubling up but he is certainly enjoying it at Wolves and has certainly done a lot better than his current 4.14 average. 6.0 - PETER KARLSSON = Sentiment shouldn't get in the way but PK has proved he can still score big points and if there are weaker #1's next season he could be a regular 7+ rider ...... but the four mentioned above have to be considered first in my opintion. If he did return it would most likely mean he wont be doing as many in Sweden and maybe concentrate on England for his final year ? 6.0 - TY PROCTOR = Yes he has had numerous chances but when fit he has proved to be a real match winner and with an average well below five he has to be considered 5.0 - LUDVIG LINDGREN = May have been missing in 2014 but he is still a Monmore favourite and if the league is right he could be on his way back ...... with his brother FREDDIE maybe but think big brother may be back in the GP Top 8 and sit out Britain again. 4.0 - NICOLAI KLINDT = Nice guy and lives locally but he isn't the prospect any more and seems to have settled in the Premier League which is clearly his level at present 2.0 - TAI WOFFINDEN = He wants to ride for Wolves and in Britain but things would have to change big time to suit his busy schedule and if the EL stays roughly the same I think Tai will have to drop one league and it looks most likely it will be Britain 1.0 - PIOTR PAWLICKI = If he wasn't under the age of twenty one and Polish he would be back next season but there is no way while he is so important to Leszno will he be back in Britain while he is at reserve
  3. Averages are reassesed each close season, so riders like Oliver Bernzton is currently a 4.00 but may well be moved up to 5.00 or even 6.00 if there are less top riders around, but then again, if the top riders in the EL next season are like Kenneth Bjerre, Scott Nicholls, Bjarne Pedersen etc then would it be right to label a new comer a 6.00 ? Bernzton is already on the team sheet for Wolves next season along with Jacob Thorssell. That's not saying they have signed but both have openly said they want to ride at Wolves next season and both are becoming good riders. Hopefully Kyle Newman, Jason Garrity etc will not be fast track riders next season and be more like a doubling up reserve or second string but I don't think there will be many of the true hot shots being bought over next season and more like more Australians, Americans etc that are based here mixing it with the Brits as the gap between the EL and PL gets closer ..... ready for 2016 ?
  4. After finishing the season with 6+ riders covering the heat leader positions added to the fact that its highly unlikely anthing will be done to help accomodate the likes of Woffinden, Iversen, Zagar etc then if 2015 is going to be anything like these final matches then it promises to be one hell of a season. Matches against Leicester and Eastbourne at home, even Poole away showed there can be great racing in every heat without the big names riding and with the assets Wolves have I would feel confident they could put together an attractive team next season with the 6+ heat leaders. Maybe they would need to convert to PL standard averages, then build to a 43 limit say for the top six and a NL draft at #7. 9.30 Jacob Thorssell 9.20 Ricky Wells 7.50 Lasse Bjerre 7.00 Oliver Bernzton 6.00 Gino Minzares 4.00 Ashley Morris draft - Tom Perry May not be what we really want, but its cost effective and built on riders committed to British Speedway PS; The team above is only an example and some are not assets
  5. This may have been one sided with only Bjarne Pedersen and Kyle Newman doing anything for Eastbourne, but it showed that you don't need the big names yet again to provide great racing and if the 2015 season starts with riders like Rory Schlein, Bjarne Pedersen, Craig Cook, Scott Nicholls etc as the top riders then so be it. Ricky Wells proved his point with a brilliant 13+1 with some fast starts and good passes and given another lap he would have finished with a maximum as he closed in on BP in heat 15. Schlein never looked in trouble, PK was like a 22 year old and Lasse showed how much he enjoys it at Monmore with some great racing. Joe Jacobs had no answer this time to Kyle Newman but looked good and Daniel King battled hard for six points. However much we may miss the likes of Woffinden, Pawlicki and other stars next season (possibly), the team spirit was obvious and I for one would look forward to a season with a 30-32 point limit (42-45 PL strength) teams if this is the action served up. Eastbourne obviously need wins away from home if they are to reach the play offs and last night I asked Trevor Geer as heat 15 approached if they were going to use Ricky at Belle Vue in the double header to replace Michelsen or Woodward. The form he showed last night was no fluke and Ricky always goes well at Kirky Lane so Eastbourne could spring a suprise next week with some away points if they book Ricky. If they book PK as a guest aswell, there may be a few Wolves fans travelling north next Monday as this was the final match at Monmore Green in 2014 with only the Olympique on Tuesday 14th October left to ride at home.
  6. Don't forget Nicolai Klindt too ...... but he could be in the GP's next season !!!
  7. Woodward is usually pretty good around Monmore while Bridger hasn't been the same rider here for a few seasons and Eagles will be weakend by this, however Michelsen has been hit and miss at Wolves while Robert Lambert would be a good guest for Michelsen as he has scored well and looked at home each time he has visited. It is becoming a regular thing now seeing a team led by 6+ riders ...... could this be the way we see it in 2015 ?
  8. In my opinion should the Elite League continue in anything like it's current state then there should be just ONE National League draft rider. This would be a rider competing in the NL next season while the other reserve should be a doubling up British rider under the age of 21 or a British rider doubling up. I have been saying for years that foreign riders should keep their assessed averages until they reach that figure but if they are injured or miss a meeting, a guest or r/r can only be used on the riders actual average which would give British riders more places in the Premier League and especially at reserve where they should be after moving up. The format for me has been the biggest let down and needs to be changed with only one reserves race in the future and the draft rider placed at #7 only. Heat 5 can often be an easy 5-1 for the home team as it usually features the home teams top two riders against the weakest heat leader and a second string that is coming out for his first ride. Then heat 6 is the opposite and if a tactical is used a one sided match can suddenly look close after a 1-8 pulls back 7 points. The reserves, especially if one is of a higher standard, should be tested more and ride against better riders more frequentlly and this would hopefully stop very good reserves top scoring with 9-10 points while world class riders are getting 6-8 during their four programmed rides. Should the Elite League have to scale down due to some riders cutting back on meetings here, then riders like Jason Garrity, Kyle Newman etc should be able to hold down a steady job at #2 even and along with two reserves, it would create a better learning curve for these riders and a more equal standard of races.
  9. Firstly I appologise for more delays. Woeking away, computer problems and a few other things has seen me hardly on this site but I will see this updated asap. VOJENS GP PRECICTIONS 12 Peter Kildemand 11 Michael Jepsen Jensen 11 Krzysztof Kasprzak 10 Matej Zagar 10 Nicki Pedersen 10 Chris Holder 8 Tai Woffinden 8 Greg Hancock 7 Kenneth Bjerre 6 Troy Batchelor 5 Fredrik Lindgren 5 Mikkel Bech 5 Jarek Hampel 5 Andreas Jonsson 4 Martin Smolinski 4 Chris Harris BONUS; pick one only 25 Points = Danish winner 50 Points = Nicki the lowest scoring Dane from the starters 75 Points = No Danes in the Final 100 Points = Bomber to score more than Woffinden 200 Points = Greg, Tai and Nicki to miss the semi finals
  10. Think Oliver Bernzton should be in as he has already made it clear he wants to ride at Wolves next season, so I would pressume he will be invited. ..... As for other young riders I don't know but would like to think we could invite Pawel Przedpelski over as Torun are not even in the play offs and he has been brilliant in Sweden where he rides with Oliver and PK and although he wouldn't be a possible signing, Artem Laguta would be great to watch in this sort of meeting. Having said that, Jacob and Tai ride for Vetlanda alongside two riders that would get people through the turnstiles in Emil Sayfutdinov and Bartosz Zmarzlik ...... that would be great Wouldn't be too suprised if we may even get an appearance by Fredrik Lindgren as he has a great record in this event and PK of course is the reigning Champion having won it in March. Plus with the Polish play offs finished by then, maybe another appearance by Piotr Pawlicki who could easily win it and although he was sacked, he really enjoyed riding at Wolves but the pressure on him from Leszno really forced his and CVS's hand.
  11. You ungrateful Baskets !!! You all come on here saying CVS and Adams never make changes to the team and here they are giving you SIX in one meeting at Swinedown and all you do is complain !!! Well Done Left and Wolfie on attending, along with Tom Perry, his mechanic and Pete Adams you could all share a lift home after At least we can start to look forward to 2015 and the IKEA sponsored team of Thorssell, Karlsson, Bernzton, Aspgren and Ludvig
  12. 8. 23 Peter Kildemand 7.37 Troy Batchelor 6.19 Simon Gustafsson 5.71 Dakota North 5.55 Nick Morris 33.05 add to that one of the highest scoring draft riders in 2014 and you can see why they are pushing for a play off slot in September 6.55 Cameron Woodward 5.90 Timo Lahti 5.10 R/R ....... giving each one ride 4.69 Michael Palm Toft 3.27 Justin Sedgman 25.51 Woodward and Lahti will most likely be given 6 rides each and if they can get over 20 between them they have done well. After that cant see the rest getting over 10 between them and expect Swindon to hit at least 60 here and just hope Wolves Guests can reach 30 Was going to attend but not with that team and will be interesting to see if they charge full price on the gate as I would think there will be a considerable amount not turning up for this one unless they enjoy seeing a cat play with a mouse before the kill ........ (which should be around heat 10)
  13. Have to say it was an enjoyable meeting last night at Wimborne Road and Wolves deserved at least a point from this as the battled well all night with Bomber in the form we know he can produce in league racing while Rory always gives 100% and Lasse was like a rocket and only a brilliant move by the balls out Kyle Newman around the fence stopped him hitting 11 from 4 rides as Gracjzonek followed through on the next lap as Newman blocked him. Joe Jacobs had a great win in heat two holding off Newman while Bridger showed his animal instics by blasting to an impressive win first time out and then went too far in the dirt in his next with the bike almost grinding to a stop in the loose dirt against the air fence. Not to be put off his ride in heat 15 was kamikaze too as he again rode within inches ofd the air fence trying to pass Bomber with Rory still biting at his ankles. Overall a brilliant display by Magic Janowski and Kyle Newman saw them home and I'm sure those that attended ...... maybe a slightly smaller crowd with no Pawlicki brothers, Ward or Woffinden ....... had a good nights entertainment. I write this from the Holiday Inn at Poole having decided to go to Swindon tonight but as it isn't going to be an Elite League team let alone a Wolves team I wont bother and will instead enjoy the Poole town for a little longer and may later pop to the beach rather than Blunsdon.
  14. I would have thought Peter Kildemand and Cameron Woodward would be the logical guests for Poole and Rory Schlein or even Edward Kennett in for Wolves. With Poole, Wednesday and Swindon Thursday I will be making the trip south but had these dates not been together I wouldn't have bothered with three key riders ruled out and in previous clashes have enjoyed the Pawlicki brothers battling it out while Darcy v Tai could have been good. Obviously Wolves are only really riding for pride while Poole want to finish top but with the Darcy it may just have ruined their season. Midlo has been on blaming the FIM for the length of time it took them to suspend / ban Darcy giving them little time to find a replacement ........ firstly they would have realised a ban was inevitable so they have had nearly two weeks ...... but does this also mean that Chris Holder has turned them down ? Can't see Wolves getting much from this unless PK, Pawlicki and Thorssell can win races and the reserves at least match the Pirates but Milik is the big difference and a rider capable of ensuring a 50-40 victory
  15. Two home (Leicester and Eastbourne) on the next two Mondays with two away at Poole (Wednesday) and Swindon (Thursday) inbetween finishes off the 2014 league season for Wolves. Leicester need points to avoid the wooden spoon and face 4 matches in three days while Eastbourne are only just hanging on to a play off place but need to get points on their travels having not won away all season and with Coventry on a roll and a number of home matches left, they look to be challenging Swindon for the final place and the Robins will be looking at 3 points next Thursday. So it looks like seventh place will be the final resting place in 2014 and a rebuild needed for next season with a possible big shake up required to meet fans and riders requirements 1 King's Lynn .......... 27 10 4 0 1 2 4 0 3 3 1294 1123 61 2 Poole ................... 26 11 1 0 2 2 1 3 3 3 1268 1095 55 3 Swindon ............... 28 8 3 0 3 2 1 0 3 8 1250 1255 44 4 Eastbourne .......... 24 11 2 1 0 0 0 0 3 7 1111 1045 41 5 Lakeside .............. 28 9 3 0 2 0 1 1 3 9 1280 1265 41 6 Coventry .............. 22 5 3 0 2 3 2 0 2 5 991 987 41 7 Wolverhampton .... 27 4 4 2 4 0 2 0 2 9 1180 1280 30 8 Leicester .............. 25 4 3 1 4 0 0 0 3 10 1057 1219 22 9 Belle Vue ............. 25 6 0 1 2 0 0 1 1 14 1046 1208 22 With Poole hitting a run of injuries and suspensions and Tai Woffinden now sidelined for the remaining matches, the meeting at Poole could be a night that sees the Wolves grab a point if they can get the right guest ...... seems crazy to say but Scott Nichlls is too high an average to replace the World Champion ..... Mads Korneliussen would be a good choice at both away meetings as for home ..... rider replacement looks the best bet
  16. Michael Jepsen Jensen replaces Darcy Ward Adrian Cyfer replaces Tai Woffinden MY PICKS .... Kasprzak Zagar Pedersen Zmarzlik GORZOW
  17. For me two riders sharing one position doesn't work which is one of the reasons the doubling up roles were changed to being a doubling up rider who was covered by a guest if unavailable. Plus if you have two riders sharing one position, plus doubling up riders and draft riders you could end up with a team like this Darcy Ward or Chris Holder Jason Doyle DU Vaclav Milik Josh Grajzoneck DU Ludvig Lindgren DU Draft rider Draft rider So for example, its Bnk Holiday Monday and Poole are at Monmore Green. Darcy gets injured in Poland and Chris Holder is unavailable ..... Doyle, Josh and Ludvig are riding in their Premier League teams as are the two draft riders ..... So it ends up as Wolves v Vaclav Milik and 6 guests !!! Maybe unlikeley but lets put it another way ...... Wolves go into this meeting with Tai and Pawlicki injured so they need a guest. As its a Bank Holiday Monday, most teams are riding and they look to find a #1 to guest so they can face a Darcy Ward led Poole team and the only #1 in the country available is Chris Holder ....... could a sharing rider end up taking guest bookings and possibly against his own team ? You can call it a British League or the Premier League but for me the best way forward is for ALL tracks to get together and form one league that is equally split into two groups of twelve and run to PL standard. ..... Those tracks that want to still run EL meetings do so on a Monday only using 6 of their team and TWO squad riders whose averages are irrelevant but one of these four squad riders must have an average below that of their regular team so he would also be available to guest. So Wolves enter the BL or PL whatever you want to call it with Peter Karlsson, Ricky Wells, Oliver Bernzton, Nicolai Klindt, Ludvig Lindgren, Ashley Morris and Tom Perry and have a four man squad pick of Fredrik Lindgren, Tai Woffinden, Piotr Pawlicki and Jacob Thorssell. ..... Any EL meeting Wolves can bring in any two of those squad riders however as Wolves have selected Peter Karlsson 6.64 as their regular #1, they are actually going to use Jacob Thorssell 6.16 for most matches in the PL/BL league Any teams not entering an EL team make up their fixtures with Premier Trophy meetings giving you a more variety of teams, equal standard racing, no fixture clashes for doubling up riders, young riders get to progress more I actually think that PL/BL matches may work better with 6 man teams (or 7 with a NL rider) and EL with 8 man teams being the regular PL/BL team plus two squad riders
  18. next season there could be 8 teams in elite , that amounts to 14 home 14 away matches =28 not really that many meetings is it.... The trouble is that having different nights for different tracks means more flights, more stuck in airports and that is something that hinders some top riders being here as it simply gets tiring and they want one race night like Poland and Sweden Yes Poland have 8 teams but they have one set night and only meet each other once so just 14 meetings If you had gradings, Freddie Lindgren would have to be a Grade 1 rider but even though he is the world champion (or former world champion) Tai Woffinden would have to be a Grade 2 rider due to his average being just over 7 a meeting. So for team nuilding you would have another Grade 2 rider sharing the position like Piotr Pawlicki
  19. Due to difficult circumstances at home I have not added the last round scores on yet but will do so as soon as possible. GORZOW PREDICTIONS 12 - Niels K Iversen ....... track record holder 11 - Greg Hancock 11 - Darcy Ward 9 - Krzysztof Kasprzak 8 - Matej Zagar 8 - Jarek Hampel ....... 2013 winner 8 - Chris Holder 7 - Nicki Pedersen 7 - Tai Woffinden 7 - Bartosz Zmarzlik 6 - Kenneth Bjerre 6 - Fredrik Lindgren 6 - Andreas Jonsson 5 - Martin Smolinski 4 - Troy Batchelor 3 - Chris Harris BONUS; There are four Gorzow riders in this Grand Prix in Iversen, Kasprzak, Zagar and Zmarzlik and all four have reached a rostrum in the past .... but how would they fare in a 4TT ? ....... Pick your winner !! 30 POINTS ..... GORZOW; Iversen, Kasprzak, Zagar, Zmarzlik 50 POINTS ..... OZ BOYS; Woffinden, Ward, Holder, Batchelor 70 POINTS ..... NORDIC; Pedersen, Jonsson, Lindgren, Bjerre 100 POINTS ..... GP WINNERS; Hancock, Hampel, Smolinski, Harris Michael Jepsen Jensen is the first rider to be called upon should anyone be missing followed by Hans Andersen, Daniel King and then Piotr Pawlicki ..... at present it looks like MJJ will replace Pedersen while Andersen is on standby for Woffinden.
  20. You contradict yourself in this post. First you say averages shouldn't come in to it and then you say averages are set for the highest rider Why would you job share a rider on a near nine average with a rider just over seven ..... Pawlicki and Woffinden are closer in averages so you would use Pawlicki's average of around 8. The trouble with job sharing is if both riders are unavailable for the same meetings. Having the EL matches on just Mondays would reduce the chance of that happening to almost zero and be much better for the two riders to be available when required with an advance agreement. If the Elite League tries to carry on as it is now, I would expect the Wolves team to be something like Pawlicki, Karlsson, Thorssell, Bernzton, Proctor, Morris and Perry. If it switches to just Mondays in my format then I could see it being more like Thorssell, Wells, Bernzton, Proctor and Morris along with any two from Lindgren, Pawlicki, Woffinden and Klindt (available to replace any from Jacob down to Ty at reserve)
  21. If they allow or go with letting teams have riders job share, I can see it being most likely that Tai would share with Pawlicki. The latest "illness" to Pawlicki is something that has been seen before and if it is as most expect it being Leszno putting the pressure on as they get towards the play offs then you can't really blame the rider as they are often left with no option as not doing what you are told over there could result in having your licence suspended meaning they cant ride anywhere at all. Piotr has been by far the best rider in the Wolves team this season and hopefully with just four meetings left he can finish the season on a high. At just 19 years of age, he has possibly been the best teenager at Monmore since Hans Nielsen and looks set to be World U21 Champion this season ...... and possibly next season too !! As for Freddie in 2015, well as he sits in joint 8th in the Series, he has every chance of qualifying next season and is only 23 points behind third placed Nicki Pedersen who may be sidelined for a few rounds and while I can't see him finishing that high, one big score in the next round could see Freddie close to securing a top 8 finish as Hampel and Holder both show inconsistant form. If he is back in the GP's next season, I can't see him being back in Britain but if he does miss out and Sweden go with THJ instead, then a return could be on the cards ...... had qualifying been the top 10 keep their GP status, Freddie would have qualified in 5 of the last 7 series not including this season and the two others he finished 11th both times.
  22. Thursday 25th September Will be great if Piotr Pawlicki gets permission or isn't ill to ride in this one. He has been our clear #1 all season and scored 17 at Kings Lynn in June and was unlucky not to have scored more than 8 in April when a fall followed by bike problems hit him hard, Would Tai get a place as one of the best #2's ? ...... be a shame to have this meeting and not have the current World Champion in it
  23. I must admit to finding a bit of humour in the articles by Tai saying that #1 riders should job share in 2015 as his average next season will be so low it is unlikely he will be the top averaging rider as Piotr Pawlicki is averaging a point higher and should he return, Fredrik Lindgren's average is nearly two points higher So maybe the perfect solution ..... not saying it will be but just a comment ...... Freddie and Greg share the #1 position and then Tai and Piotr share the #5 position. .... Add to that Jacob Thorssell, Oliver Bernzton and A.N.Other plus two reserves both doubling up ...... bit like a patchwork quilt really !!! Under the system I have been doing, with a pick of Four Star riders, Tai could be picked for half the meetings so it cuts down on his work load here while Freddie could do the other half and Pawlicki do half with PK doing the other half So the team/squad would be .... Piotr Pawlicki or Fredrik Lindgren Tai Woffinden or Peter Karlsson Jacob Thorssell Ricky Wells Oliver Bernzton Nicolai Klindt Ashley Morris / Tom Perry
  24. The season is all but over and unless there are big changes made to the Elite League I think 2015 would be a fitting swan song for PK to lead a Swedish based team of Thorssell, Bernzton and Aspgren with whoever fits in ..... hopefully Woffy, Pawlicki or another Swede in Fredrik Lindgren As for TSC saying Tai will NOT be back here or anywhere in Britain next season, until you can give a source then I will give you my view on the matter. Tai along with others, especially GP riders NEED to only ride one day a week here and SKY want that to be a Monday. With riders now given the oppourtunity to ride in the GP's and SEC next season, it would mean they are unavailable most weeks for the weekends inc Fridays. Tai wants to be back at Wolves next season and put his 2014 form behind him. He admits he has put himself in the situation with riding here, Poland, Sweden and the GP's but as World Champion he wants to ride as much as possible but travelling back and forth to England is possibly the most tiring. If it was just Mondays here, he would set off on a Thursday evening to whatever GP or SEC he was riding in, then onto Poland for Sunday, Wolves on Monday and Sweden on Tuesday leaving Wednesday and part of Thursday as relax and training time at home. Without that there is no spare time and he and others are just getting burnt out. So I can tell TSC that he WANTS to ride here and at Wolves next season but until changes are made, he and others will just have to see but he knows that starting on such a low average will benefit the team next season ..... given the chance Oh yes, my source ...... a few people that should know including Tai Woffinden himself.
  25. Forgetting the "illness" let's not forget that Polish riders are often put in a difficult position by their clubs and PZM and can face fines or bans from racing if they don't do as they are told and a ban would hit them abroad aswell so they lose everything. Piotr has been a revelation at Wolves this year and I know very well that he has enjoyed rididing at Monmore Green and for Wolves and if he wasn't "ill" (or told not to ride ? ) he would be riding and showing what has made him the top Wolves rider in 2015 by almost a point !! As for the meeting last night, Jason Doyle always goes well at Monmore ..... weird how he was considered for the team but Pawlicki was signed instead ...... and only three defeats by the true form of Tai Woffinden could stop him while Simon Stead was back to the form he showed at Monmore Green roughly a decade ago when he wore the old gold n black. Nicolai Klindt was his usual self with poor races where he looked outclassed and races where he looked like a GP star which he could be if he puts five electric starts together in Lonigo in a months time. Wolves however had all six ride well although it took a while for Tai to get going and while PK only got seven, he wasn't far off each time and apart from being passed by Buczkowski, he was only beaten by Stead and Doyle (three times) which isn't bad for a 44 year old Swede ..... terrible for a 44 year old American
