  1. Only real pass was by Tobiasz Musielak on lap two all the others were from the gate with a few decided down the back straight and into turn three. PK was fast from the gate as was Tobiasz who will be a good signing for next year as he is performing well away and on an average around 4.7 should be a bargain.
  2. Believe it or not but Ben Barker was told if he didn't do the Elite League this season he could be eligable to be a Fast Track Reserve in 2016 Hopefully riders like Garrity, Newman, Auty etc are not given the facilty again and made second strings
  3. There is one true master of getting riders on certain averages and Matt Ford is more about picking up riders on modest averages rather than manipulating them.
  4. There are a number of riders that double up in the Elite and Premier League and carry official averages in each league. However the difference in some cases is miles apart from their average in the other league and should we move towards one big league it would be best if riders had one fixed average. Take Ricky Wells who is averaging around 6.4 in the EL which would convert to something around 9.80 in the Premier League but he is actually just 7.84 which converted to the EL is about 5.00 which is some way off his true figure. Riders can easily have one average by simply adding together the rides and points in both leagues but only using 66.6% (divide by 1.5) of the points used in the lower level, so 99 points in the PL would count as part of the calculation in the riders one true average. EXAMPLE ONLY EL = 107 RIDES - 159 PTS +16 BP = 175 POINTS = 5.94 PL = 113 RIDES - 241 PTS +10 BP = 251 POINTS = 8.53 AVGE = 220 RIDES - 319.66 PTS = 5.81 AVERAGE (x1.5 = 8.71 PL) It is crazy that in the Elite League Craig Cook could guest for Ricky Wells for Wolves but in the Premier League his average is far too high for this to happen but Ricky is in the opposite scenario. Thoughts ?
  5. Swindon finished that meeting with Batchelor, Ward and Zengota dominating the final heats and the reserves getting a gifted 5-1 after both Wolves fell but I do agree Swindon are the team on a roll and it will be hard to stop them winning here again. As for Freddie he scored 3 3 3 3 2 = 14 tonight against Kings Lynn and was all over Iversen in the final heat
  6. 16+2 max at Birmingham 12+3 max at Coventry 12+1 at Eastbourne 12 at Poole 11 at Eastbourne 10+1 at Belle Vue 10 at Kings Lynn 9+2 at Belle Vue, Birmingham 10 inc a tactical win at Birmingham and 5 at Peterborough were the only away matches he failed to hit double figures away from Monmore Green ....... this was an improvement on 2012 when he failed to hit double figures in 4 away meetings.
  7. Wasn't a very good crowd for Wolves and the terraces were more sparce than previous meetings. Have to ask as this is the first time I have seen Zengota ride this season but does he usually wear Australian Team kevlars and a Swindon top ?
  8. I predicted a 42-48 score but was suprised early on that Wolves were not only holding the Robins but also leading them and picking up heat advantages too. Every time they came back at Wolves the home team did the same and with 9 heats gone it looked like Wolves were going to edge it after a great 5-1 from Ricky and Freddie over Darcy put it at 33-27 with just 5 races left. However when you looked at the remaining heats it was clear Robins were going to finish strongly as only Ward, Batchelor and Zengota featured in all but the reserves race in heat 12 and Zengota was already looking fast and those final five heats went 24-6 in favour of the visitors with Zengota getting three untroubled race wins from those heats. Were Wolves that bad or were Swindon just too strong ? I would say it was more of the latter as Zengota was so fast from the gate no one got near him and Darcy was what was expected and even in the race he was on the wrong end of a 5-1 he was all over the Wolves pair and Freddie did a great job in making sure there was no gap for him to try and pass. Lewis Blackbird didn't quite look on the pace while Josh Bates was not really on it but his only real point he picked up was beating Ashley Morris who he replaced in the Wolves line up in the draft system. Meanwhile Tobiasz Musielak had a nightmare by hitting the tapes and then falling in the rerun and injuring his right arm. He did however put on a good race for third in heat six with Troy Batchelor. Overall the more powerful and stronger team duly won and on this strength they look a formidable team to beat over two legs. If they can get decent cover for Morris they should pick up more points on their travels and at Poole on Wednesday it may be wise to use R/R with Darcy making a return to Wimborne Road.
  9. Andreas Jonsson 9.66 (given 9.03) down to 7.56 I think we all agree Freddie isn't the rider he was 5 years ago but he is still quality and I am sure along with Andersen and Bjerre he will be a bargain next season
  10. Will the Top 8 Change ? Who will get the other Wild Card ? Who will be the Top 3 ? This is the standings at the half way stage. Personally I don't think the top 8 will change 1 #108 Tai Woffinden 80 2 #3 Nicki Pedersen 71 3 #45 Greg Hancock 58 4 #55 Matej Zagar 53 5 #88 Niels-Kristian Iversen 53 6 #23 Chris Holder 51 7 #69 Jason Doyle 48 8 #71 Maciej Janowski 46 9 #52 Michael Jepsen Jensen 41 10 #100 Andreas Jonsson 38 11 #37 Chris Harris 32 12 #33 Jaroslaw Hampel 31 13 #75 Troy Batchelor 30 14 #30 Tomas H. Jonasson 30 15 #19 Peter Kildemand 23 16 #507 Krzysztof Kasprzak 21 WILD CARDS ? Darcy Ward and Jaroslaw Hampel are assured of getting a place in 2016 and Sweden will get one place, but Antonio Lindback may qualify ? leaving just one or two more space/s for --------- ? TOP 8 = No Change WILD CARD = Piotr Pawlicki (and Linback if a Swede required) TOP 3 = Woffinden, Pedersen and Hancock in that order
  11. On the plus side Darcy had a poor meeting in Poland yesterday as his team Zielona Gora (who's fans don't like him at all) lost at home 43-47 to Tarnow with Darcy getting 7+2 from 7 rides. Won't mind him getting a single point each ride tonight
  12. I understand what you mean but Jacob was signed up to be third or fourth in the averages but they failed to sign another heat leader and were limited by who was available due to Freddie's 8.92 average which was never going to be achieved. Next season however on an average under 7 points a match Freddie must be signed regardless of what position he starts or the rules and format set.
  13. WOLVERHAMPTON 1 - Peter KARLSSON 2 - Jacob THORSSELL 3 - Ricky WELLS 4 - Tobiasz MUSIELAK 5 - Fredrik LINDGREN 6 - Lewis BLACKBIRD 7 - Josh BATES SWINDON 1 - Darcy WARD 2 - Eduard KRCMAR 3 - Nick MORRIS 4 - Grezgorz ZENGOTA 5 - Troy BATCHELOR 6 - Charles WRIGHT 7 - Ashley MORRIS Swindon have a very strong line up as they approach the run in to the play offs with an incredible top four that are all averaging over 8 points a match is n 2015 and have also bought in Wolves asset, Ashley Morris to cover for the injured Lewis Rose who has struggled in previous visits. Wolves made a remarkable recovery last week against Poole to win 47-46 but it is hard to see Wolves hitting 47 against this line up and track conditions should suit the visitors with plenty dirt after rain has soaked in yesterday but nice weather today making it perfect for racers like Ward and Co Would like to see another close win but think it will be 42-48
  14. It is pretty rare these days for transfers to take place in the sport unless it's some new superstar as many deals now seem to be rider exchanges or loan deals. There would not need to be a vast amount spent therefore to get a solid team together but just the right riders for the job required of them. Therefore the one rider that seems to be in a difficult position is Ricky Wells who as a second string has been possibly the best and most consistent rider in the team this season but now has an average over 6.5 and now in a heat leader role. However Ricky has shown signs he is ready to be tested more but not as a second heat leader which adds too much pressure and his away form is still questionable. The key signings next season would be riders that can score big points away and while one of those needs to be a heat leader, in Tobiasz I think the club have a rider on a low average who could do well at away tracks like Poole, Swindon and Kings Lynn plus the new Belle Vue track is set to be quite bigger. As it stands at the moment it's just a case of trying to do the best with what we have and avoid the wooden spoon. Tonight we take on Swindon at Monmore for the first time and they now have possibly the strongest line up in the league.
  15. We have just about beat Poole at home and then got thrashed at Wimborne Road and it is still a puzzle why Wolves didn't go for Paul Starke in the draft. Bates has shown a few glimpses of potential but Starke showed how much he knows Monmore Green and is averaging a point more than the British U21 Champion. AVERAGES at August 1st 7.04 Peter Karlsson 6.59 Ricky Wells 6.48 Fredrik Lindgren 5.26 Jacob Thorssell 4.60 Tobiasz Musielak 29.97 -
  16. No real suprise that Wolves got nothing from this one and that Poole hit 60 points and took 13 race winners through the meeting. Also no suprise of late that Wolves heat leaders failed to win a race and the only two winners were second strings. Well done Jacob on making a fight of it and Tobiasz showing a little of what we know he could be but this season is little more than saving face now and winning at home. Monday and this meeting must have made them think why they didn't pick Starke in the draft.
  17. Wouldn't call him a unknown as he has risen up in the few years he has been racing and has beaten some good riders on the way. Certainly going to find it hard sometimes but will have the odd flash of potential and get points. Swindon can get into the play offs and with a top three of Ward, Batchelor and Morris they have possibily the strongest heat leader trio in the league and Zengota is one of the strongest second strings to back them up. If Krcmar can add 3-4 points a meeting and the reserves hold their own they could beat anyone over two legs.
  18. http://www.sportowefakty.pl/zuzel/532679/w-swindon-robins-robia-miejsce-dla-darcyego-warda love the DARCY EGO WARD bit of the link
  19. Kyle Howarth to return to Coventry ? Would do them a big boost heading into the second half of the season and a good #2 but it's a shame Robbo would have to make way but it would strengthen the team big time.
  20. It was a choice between Zengota and Howarth and to be fair Zengi is averaging 7.5 in all matches so far compared to 6.1 for Howarth but it does make you think that maybe Britain should adapt a Polish feature of how many home grown riders must feature in the team. While I appreciate Howarth has done well at Swindon since leaving Coventry (where he could return), I cant see him being any better than Thorssell or Musielak at Monmore so would be suprised to see him at Wolves but wish him well wherever he ends up.
  21. As Kildemand stepped in, Morris has been sensational and now they are likely to include Darcy Ward I would like to appologise for thinking the Robins were going to struggle and finish bottom and as a Wolves fan I am just happy Lakeside and Leicester are still helping us avoid that honour Otherwise pretty pleased with the initial predictions
  22. There is never any complaints or worries over the track at Wolves as it is always well prepared and very safe but there is hardly any home track advantage these days as most places of the track where the home riders benefit from are now mastered by most visiting riders too. Maybe it is time for the club to look at changes on the track in the size, shape and who rides it as the club has struggled in recent years and 2009 seems such a long time ago now.
  23. His engines in Sweden, Poland and England are tuned by the same guy. Different mechanic but they can only work with what is given them and you know Graham Jones knows what to do with a bike after years with PK and helping out a few others.
  24. It was good to see as Coventry gained 12 points in those races and had the race been stopped and the Wolves rider won the re run each time, Wolves would have been 6 up going into the final heat. Well Done Tobiasz (twice) and Lewis POLAND = Andreas Jonsson 4.40, Matej Zagar 7.72, Chris Holder 7.14, Krzysztof Kasprzak 6.46, when a top rider meets a strong line up someone has to finish last so averages are lowered and the Elite League format here does the same but the problem is second strings have increased their averages unlike in Poland where they still have to face heat leaders as do reserves even though they do have reserve races. WOLVES V COVENTRY Wolves started the night with a bit of luck. Andersen stops in heat one, Sarjeant excluded in heat 2 for leaving the track after a false start. Garrity out done in rerun as Wolves jump the start, Wells touches the tapes in heat 4 but not spotted by the referee who puts all four back. After a good heat 5 where Garrity nearly falls on turn one, Coventry provided the winner in 8 of the remaining 10 races with only Ricky Wells taking the chequered flag in heats 8 (Garrity off 15) and heat 14 beating the unbeaten Kylmakorpi. Bees were better balanced, faster from the gate and worked together as a team to get the resuly just as they have done now on six away meetings. A well deserved win made to look respectable after the head start they gave Wolves in the early heats.
  25. AS FOR TEAM CHANGES ? 8.92 - 7.63 - 7.38 = Fredrik Lindgren 6.15 - 6.95 - 7.15 = Peter Karlsson 6.50* assessed = Tobiasz Musielak 5.88 - 6.05 - 6.40 = Ricky Wells 6.25 - 4.97 - 5.30 = Jacob Thorssell PK is averaging 8.19 so far this season while Freddie is currently averaging 6.58 which is only just above Ricky Wells reaching 6.56. Jacob is averaging just 4.72 and Tobiasz just 4.25. Tobiasz will get a new average after the Swindon meeting on Thursday as it's his fourth away meeting and is (not counting last night) on 33 from 28 = 4.71, roughly the same as Jacob who is obviously much stronger home than away. 32.73 means there is just 1.27 to play with now ........ but who is available and who would go ? If Tobiasz gets a new average of 4.20 then there will be 3.77 to play with meaning he could be replaced by a rider upto 7.77 or Jacob replaced by a rider up to 8.87 ..... (shame DARCY wont be available ? ) Replacing both Tobiasz and Jacob after Swindon would leave 13.07 for two riders Replacing Freddie and Tobiasz after Swindon would leave 15.15 for two riders NOTE; As of July 1st, Coventry have 6.67 available if they wish to replace Robson !! Kings Lynn have 6.64 if they want to replace Porsing which could possibly make Lambert and Milik second strings !! Great isn't it that the clubs doing well and in play off places can improve their team more or less than Wolves can ?
