  1. I'd love Nicki to win it again, but just feel he has lacked a little something over the last few years. Holder on his home track, and with a small lead, is favourite, but will be interesting to see how he copes when the pressure is really on.
  2. Not the only one though, was she? Well done to Ash, classy performer & deserving winner.
  3. Clutch problems in his first 2, he told me. I won't pay too much attention to the asset situation. Riders generally ride for who they want to, not who owns their contract. Congrats to all 13 riders who all did well in very trying conditions. A decent crowd all things considered - a shade more than I was expecting given its "Egg Cup" status, and the dodgy weather. Impressive display from Ipswich - even with an off night for Tungate, Poole losing out a few times, and Risager suffering from bike issues, they still nearly hit 60. Good to catch up with LW, WvsH & Badge again.
  4. Hope there's a bit more interest in Ipswich tonight than there is on here! Updates available @ http://speedwayupdates.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=ippo&action=display&thread=10843
  5. Garrity is favourite. But there's another half a dozen potential winners plus numerous others who could be spoilers. Looks like a very competitive field, and should be a good meeting.
  6. Scunthorpe/Sheffield managed okay last season, and they had hmmm 4 riders in the PL, was it? From memory, both the Worrall twins elected to ride for their NL team on the same day that their PL teams were in action.
  7. There's clubs in the PL Play-Offs who also ride on Sundays, so don't see it making that much of a difference, to be honest. Will know more once the fixtures are released.
  8. For me, the home form this year has been most disappointing. Whilst I firmly believe you win and lose as a team, the team was always bound to struggle at home with Korneliussen as the 2nd heat leader. No lack of effort, but he just is not a second heat leader in my eyes. A decent 2nd heat leader is required, and a more consistent middle order would be nice aswell! Nermark struggled a lot during the season, but strangely enough early in the season in a second string role, he was largely doing fine. On a 5.2 - 5.30 average, I'd have him back in a jiffy. He needs to grow the beard back in the winter aswell. I'd also bring back Olly Allen. He has his critics, but we really missed him this year. He's dependable, and could usually guarantee 7-9 points from him at home. We could have done with that numerous times. Something like: 1 Kenneth Bjerre 2 Daniel Nermark 3 Oliver Allen 4 Maciej Janowski 5 Rory Schlein 6 Lasse Bjerre 7 Jason Garrity/Ashley Birks
  9. Unless Edinburgh seriously slip-up tonight, I think Ipswich's hopes have pretty much gone. Additionally, why would Doolan want to avoid earning money against the very team that dumped him?
  10. Josh Bailey looks to be a talented kid, but would be a little harsh to throw him in at the deep end at this stage of the season. I hear Bates isn't that far off from being fit again. Not sure whether he can be re-declared into the side or not though.
  11. I know it won't be Nielsen at reserve for Ipswich. Both he and Jacobs (who would be next in line, I assume) are at Sheffield for the Under-19 Final.
  12. Baseby out of the meeting (and possibly season) with leg/ankle injury sustained at Stoke tonight
  13. At the time of the posting, they were no Updates, as an updater hadn't come forward at the time. In fact, if you actually took time to look at when the thread was created, that would be obvious.
  14. Gutted for young Morley. On the way to a faultless 15 pointer only for the chain to go on the very last lap - probably wiping out all of his earnings for the night with it! Those are the ups and downs of the sport, I guess. Impressed with young Connor Coles. He seemed to have something about him in his first 3 rides, but a little something was lacking. Whatever was lacking, he certainly found it towards the end with 2 very impressive paid wins. Will be interesting to see how he develops. Everytime I see him, James Sargeant is involved in some sort of scuffle. I am sure that is just a coincidence though. Must congratulate Mr. Silver on the track surface. Did well to prepare it for 30 heats. Passing was still possible in heat 13 of the NL match, as Nielsen showed by passing Warwick. Seen several double headers (at numerous venues) over the years, and the NL match generally has a blue groove for the least half a dozen heats (if not more!) so was good to see the track was fit for racing in both matches.
  15. Lanham rode pretty well at number 1 last night when it really mattered!!
  16. They really need to build up bit of an asset base. The current assets are mainly PL riders, at best. Need to avoid a "battle for the scraps" year after year with BV. As one of the few assets, Wolbert should be the first name on the teamsheet for next year. If Szczepaniak is an asset, bring him back aswell. Think he's done more than enough to warrant a team spot in '13. Wouldn't be at all surprised if Ford has something to do about that though. Other than that, bring in a new rider who can hold down his average with an eye for the future. And Olly Allen + 3 others depending on who fits, and who's available.
  17. Not a great deal of interest in this match by the looks of it! Despite some rain before and after the meeting, it went ahead & Mildenhall will go to Loomer Road with a 16 point lead. Nasty crashes for Bates (broken arm) and Blackbird (suspected broken wrist at the time but given the lack of info, am guessing it's not broken) took the shine off the meeting. Some excellent reactions from riders. First Andrews fell right in front of Jacobs/Bates, and both did remarkably well to avoid him. Couple heats later Halsey did a 360 coming out bend 2, and this time it was Atkin & Carr who both somehow missed him.
  18. At the start of the season, I thought there was very little in it. You could go through the sides and say X is better than X, and so on, but over 2 legs, I'd have expected it to go down to the wire. Both sides have the right idea. Having someone experiened on hand to advise the youngsters, and to help develop them into fine riders. That for me is why they are the best 2 sides in the league by a country mile. Both Jan O and the trio of Lee, Louis & Jolly (sounds like a group of accountants to me) have done excellent jobs and have set the bar for other clubs to follow. The one difference though has been the injuries. Dudley have done remarkably well to remain pretty much injury-free all season long. Mildenhall, on the other hand, have not been so lucky having lost Stoneman already and with Bates and Heeps also likely to be out for the season. If Mildenhall can get some decent replacements, it could be close again, but as things stand, Dudley are huge favourites in my eyes, and have shown very few weaknesses all season long.
  19. Terry-Daley looked a lot better today. I was certainly impressed by his showing, and could've got a couple more. Bad news with Josh Bates suffering a suspected broken arm, and I imagine Graver will be given another chance now.
