Rose out of shape on bend 2, impeding Greenwood in the process but the ref let it go. Phillips took the lead down the back straight but lost it twice on the 4th bend and took a heavy tumble. Race to be re-run without him, and Danny is being seen by the paramedics. Re-Run: Rose from the gate and Greenwood passed him down the backstraight. Stokes was always close for the rest of the race, including getting very, very close off the last bend but Greenwood just about kept him at bay. Stokes (fell).2-7, 43-35, 65.00 Line Up: Kerr, Stokes, YOUNG, Phillips Greenwood Comments: Tom Young takes Scunthorpe's second tactical ride of the evening. Stokes fell last lap when last. 3. I've not done the Eggbowl since 2000. Have no intention of starting today. I will be one of the masses at the Norfolk Arena tonight. National League racing at King's Lynn is such a rare occurence nowadays I'd have to see it with my own eyes to believe it!
  4. Good ol' Lucy! Bound to be several. 13 riders (ish), a few mechanics, a referee, a start marshall, someone to let the masses in, someone to serve food for the masses. Bound to be packed. Hope you're planning on getting there early, Mimmo!
  5. Mark Baseby comes into the side, and Paul Starke goes down to reserve.
  6. It was a normal first bend, Adz. Your typical, competitive heat 15. The ref, however, felt that revenge was being sought even though no riders fell, or looked like falling! A most definitely lively meeting Saturday night meeting. Best wishes to the injured riders who are no doubt feeling very sore this morning. Also to Robert Branford who threw up in the pits after that heat 9 race.
  7. It usually takes a few days for the new averages to be declared. I'd imagine only riders that have been ever present would get a new average aswell, so guys like Tom Perry will have to wait a little longer.
  8. If we assume that BPs don't count, same with 2 minute exclusions, Atkin has a higher average from the last 6, 7 and 8 matches based upon the results on Speedway Results.
  9. It says "form", Vog. I agree there are some surprising selections, but it doesn't state it is all matches, or league matches, or league+KOC, etc. If I were to hazard a guess, I suspect it is something like last 6-7 matches or something similar. I've not done the maths though...shall leave that one up to you
  10. I heard a rumour about that, very surprising if true. Daren't repeat it in case it's untrue! Actually felt sorry for the lad. He made a decent start in the reserves heat, but seemed to be fighting a losing battle against his bikes. They didn't look capable of doing 4 laps, nevermind 7 lots of 4 laps! Tricky, grippy, patchy track which proved rather difficult for several of the riders. Even guys like Blackbird (who really needs to work on his interview etiquette!) was finding it tough out there, although things did improve as the meeting went on. Some decent races though, a bit of mystery, and nice food still made it an enjoyable afternoon. Bit of sunshine, too! Best wishes to Gary Cottham, who was extremly unlucky. Hope to see him back on a bike soon.
  11. Not sure if you've seen any of the footage yet, but the whole meetingcan be viewed at No Pearson though, unfortunately!
  12. Didn't he also have something like a 6pt average for Belle Vue in the EL not so long ago? (when it was stronger than it is at the moment) It's a shame to see him struggling so much. Hope he's able to get it sorted, and turn the corner sometime soon.
  13. I remember one match a few years back when he saved King's Lynn bacon in a match at Rye House scoring something like 20 points! He's definitely not just a big track man in my eyes. You don't get a 10 point average by just doing well on big tracks. Admittedly, that 10 point average seems a lifetime ago now! I remember one match many years ago. It was a home match for King's Lynn against either Glasgow or Berwick. It was a very tight match. It got to near the end of the match. Heat 14 to be precise, and his bike died at the start. I don't think I have ever seen anyone more pis...annoyed at their machinery! He was totally gutted, but King's Lynn still managed to narrowly win...thankfully (in case you were wondering) After that match, his form turned from regular 5-6 points to regular double figure scores eventually helping King's Lynn to some cup success at the end of the season. That form continued into 2006 and so on. By that time, he was an out and out number 1, who rode with distinction home and away. I have always thought of that match against Glasgow as the turning point in his career. The moment when he decided he was fed up with having unreliable machinery (which he had at the time) and either invested heavily in machinery, or found some good sponsors. I could be completly wrong though! I can not believe for one moment that he is a worse rider than he was some 5 or 6 years ago. I just think he is probably at the age now where his priorities have shifted somewhat. He has a family to look after now (I think!), and possibly doesn't throw every spare penny he has into his bikes. Didn't he have an improvement in form late last year when Chris Louis did an engine for him? Or did I imagine that?
  14. Even without the joker, it could still happen. In theory. For example: Denmark: 3, X, 3, 3, 3, 3, X ,3 = 18 GB: 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2 = 16
  15. Do you work for BT's customer service? Fenwick actually isn't in the declared line-up. He's just been in to cover for injuries. Hart is in the declared side, but hasn't ridden for a while. Are they expecting him to return?
  16. Danish Division 1 is now called Danmarksserien - shortened to DS. Try the Aktuellspeedway site. http://www.aktuellspeedway.se/schedule.php?id=11&s=2012 I am not sure about Division 2 though.
  17. Stoke have re-signed Simon Lambert to replace Richie Worrall who apparently is out for the rest of the season. Pickard also makes way and I imagine his replacement will be announced in due course. http://www.stokepotters.co
  18. Speedway bikes can be unreliable, and expensive beasts when they go wrong! In the NL, if you suffer a blown engine, it can take an age to save up to get it fixed again. I have absolute no insider knowledge as far as IOW is concerned, but the IOW track can be quite tough on the engines, which may or may not contribute to their problems. At this level, I think every team needs someone mechanically experienced to help out the younger guys with machinery, bikes, etc. There's a lot to learn at the beginning of their careers. Dudley have Jan O, Buxton have Dean Felton, Stoke Tony Atkin, Mildenhall have several, do IOW have someone similar? As for the meeting itself, I wasn't there, so shouldn't really comment, but these things happen, especially when the track is far from ideal. If you miss a gate, get sprayed with a load of crap, the bikes don't always like that!
  19. Great start to the SWC. If the next 3 meetings are as good, I'll be happy! Some fine racing tonight, heat 20 was especially special. Perfect way to finish the meeting. Think it shows that sometimes a slick track can provide great races..
  20. In the end this match was called off after 7 heats due to a nasty crash along with more of the wet stuff! It was 22-20 to Outrup at the time, so the result is 43-41. And some people think British Speedway has some quirky regulations! Best wishes to Karpov - hope he recovers quickly.
  21. Yeah, no Speedway tonight. Just says to check the website for a "repeat", so might be on later tonight or tomorrow, I'd guess. http://liveupdates.dk/?Outrup_Speedway_klub:Outrup_Live
  22. it certainly looks that way. They're currently on heat 6 in Outrup, so the problem seems quite terminal.
  23. Rain, and then technical problems from Outrup.
