  1. If it's 5-1s as opposed to 1-5s, I'd imagine Armstrong & Bates has to be pretty high up there
  2. Ideally, yes, as I think he is pretty local. He was one of the first that sprung to mind. Would be good to see Adam Lowe back if he hasn't retired? If those 2 are possible, then you'd just need a number 1, plus a couple of reserves, then you have a decent side with some Leicester interest + local interest.
  3. Tigers? You want to ride at Sheffield, Glasgow or Mildenhall? Must admit the thought of a Dudley B Team did cross my mind...
  4. I was actually thinking about Kevin Brice earlier! What a legend he was. Anyway, back on topic. Screamer hit the nail on the head. Solid is a term that describes it perfectly. Lacks a tad in spectacularity, but if all riders add half a point to their average (which is not beyond the realms of possibility by any means), then they'll be in the play-offs, or very close to it.
  5. Whilst he was riding, I really could not hack Hans Nielsen at all. Especially after he had the audacity to pass Ray Morton on the final bend in one heat. Now I enjoy seeing him on the "old" Youtube videos. I've come to appreciate just how exceptional he was. Back in the day, I just I must've got annoyed at how good he was! I can't believe there's been so many mentions about Greg Hancock supposedly being boring and none about Shaun Tracey! What's that all about?
  6. Jack Kingston definitely. He seemed to make huge strides once he started getting help from Michael Lee. Danny Phillips is far better than his average. He won't be far off a heat leader's average by the end of the year. Although likely to start at the difficult #2 position, I get the feeling Nathan Greaves is in for a big year. He's been around a fair few years now, Steve Worrall really got everything sussed towards the end of last season. He'll be one of the top dogs in the NL this year if Richie sold him that engine! Along with Phillips, James McBain is one of the strongest 3 pointers out there. He's not far from PL standard. Riders like Luke Crang, Oliver Greenwood, Liam Carr can all have good seasons if they are able to put their PL experience to good use, and don't suffer too badly from any confidence or machinery issues.
  7. During the first ever episode of Run (and an awful episode it was too), there was Speedway featured on the TV in the background. The track was saturated and had a white fence, that's all I could make out. There was also some commentary but I couldn't make it out. Any smartass out there (yes, I mean you, SCB) able to identify the track? The brief clip was shown after about 35 minutes. It's like when you see that actor from that film and you just can not remember where you've seen him from and in time, it frustrates you more and more and more! Back to the show, it was about a pair of thugs, basically. Hopefully not everyone who managed that far into the show thinks Speedway is appealing to thugs! It is of course possible that not everyone pays as much attention to the background TV as I do, though...
  8. He won the U19s at Sheffield the other year, I assume that is what is being referred to? He finished on a 4.70 average, 4.58 with the NL reduction. Great to see Taylor back in the UK (hopefully!), one of the thoroughly nice guys in the sport. He's had a torrid couple of years with injuries but if he's overcome those, he has the potential to become a strong heat leader.
  9. Not a bad average for a 3rd heat leader though!
  10. I don't think that issue will be problematic anymore.
  11. Why would Jason Garrity help him? He rides for Coventry.
  12. Birmingham had a well-rounded side last season, so I'm guessing they must've had a fair few partnerships in that list. Ummm, off the top of my head Barker & King seemed a good pairing. They up there?
  13. You could argue it would never have gone down to a last-meeting decider without Cook, who scored well in the toughie at WV2 (copyright TNT) and he was excellent at Poole on the Friday night to help set-up the meeting at Eastbourne the following night. Granted Cook struggled for the first few meetings, but when he got his machinery over (from Sweden?) he was superb - apart from at Eastbourne! Lynn's troubles were they had dropped too many points away from home mid-season, hence the reason for switch in the first place. SKY certainly seemed to enjoy the league title going to the end, and IIRC, the play-offs came in shortly thereafter much to the dismay of The White Knight et al.
  14. Who can forget Travis McGowan pissing passed Gollob round Foxhole?
  15. Wasn't the draft originally planned for the PL? The PL promoters weren't interested. Think that says it all really.
  16. Would Birks have ridden for £40 a point? Considering he finished as Scunthorpe's number 1, I doubt it somehow. There's always going to be someone somewhere who loses out. It's unfortunate whoever it is. I wouldn't be surprised to see him end up at Belle Vue anyway.
  17. Chris Schramm + Stefan Nielsen? Great news to have Peterborough "back"!
  18. That really is far too much information for a family forum like this
  19. It depends on whether the rider had any other offers. If it wouldn't be good if they had other offers. If they didn't, though, then it'd be a few extra meetings, plus a signing-on fee I'd assume, which is not to be sniffed at. Plus a few good meetings could make other sides notice....
