DUDLEY START TIME RESOLVED Mildenhall Speedway wish to make it clear that their meeting against Dudley this Sunday (19th August) is and was always starting at 4.30pm. Due to a third party stating a different start time, there seems to have been a misunderstanding on this matter. But we have now agreed with Dudley that our normal start time of 4.30pm is acceptable. We appreciate both teams are missing riders, but feel this will still be a tremendous meeting. The only alternative would have been to postpone the meeting, as it would have been impossible to prepare the stadium by 3pm. On top of this we know it would be very unlikely the three riders trying to get back to Leicester would have arrived on time for the start of that meeting. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused and hope the Dudley fans will still come and support their youngsters, as we know the Mildenhall Fen Tigers' fans will, and enjoy a great afternoon's entertainment. As far as Mildenhall are concerned the matter is now closed. We will be making no further comment on this issue and look forward to some exciting speedway on Sunday.

If you're going to do that, you might as well have a local derby - Ipswich V Mildenhall. I did see a meeting against Workington in 2000 when Ipswich were in the EL, which was run under similar circumstances, and it was a pretty decent meeting, from what I remember of it.

http://www.speedwaygb.co/issues12/pl12_issue_18.pdf Those are the current green sheets averages. Newcastle are entitled to use a guest up to an 5.78 average to cover for Richie Worrall, whereas it's NL guests for Steve.

King's Lynn V Mildenhall (nl) - Saturday 11th August 2012
MrMungo replied to Mimmo's topic in National League Speedway
Enjoyable rare Saturday night out at the Norfolk Arena. Expected it to be a really close one but Mildenhall looked sharper in all areas, and even though he failed to score Terry-Daley was on the pace and unlucky not to pick up the odd point here and there I felt. Nielsen, Bates and Jacobs the standouts for me. Halsey hardly ever gets a mention by anyone but solid again I thought and Morley proved to be an excellent guest...and rather popular on the 2nd bend too! A lack of heat winners proved costly for the YS. No one rider was awful, they all had their moments, but ultimately they lack a rider who can be relied upon to win heats, get the 6 points when need be. That said I have to give credit to Dale Allitt for electing to use Lewis Rose instead of R/R. R/R would have certainly made a small difference, and made it closer. Oh, and very impressed with the up-to-date programme! Quite how they managed it, I'm not sure -
He's riding again tonight, Tsunami, and then again at your place tomorrow night all being well. He just lost feeling in his foot on Thursday briefly, but he's a tough kid. Won't keep him off a bike for long if he can help it!

King's Lynn V Mildenhall (nl) - Saturday 11th August 2012

He was late arriving last time at KL. Struggled a bit at the beginning of the meeting but looked sharp towards the end of the meeting. KL have a lot of riders who are at a similar level, so he could either score 4 or 14, but looking at the options, he's probably as good as any. -
You don't think it was updated to add the result of the Stoke match and to link it to that report then? That would be the logical conclusion most people would come to, I'd suspect. Especially since that report was added 1 minute earlier.

A few (2 or 3) per team is what I said. So yes, 5. It's far from ideal, but such is the sport. I have seen meetings run with more riders missing. The worse of which was in 2003 when King's Lynn had to run with a team complete of guests and r/r! That was rough. Maybe if we have had a glorious summer with only a handful of rain-offs you could argue the case of calling it off, but it's not been the case. Mildenhall still have the rest of their NL campaign to run, there's KOC aswell, NT, play-offs, etc. All to run in about 10-11 weeks or so? By the way, you're not allowed to use Jan O for Roynon!
-
With the meeting being run last week in less than ideal conditions, I imagine they are running really short on free dates. (Still NT to slot in, aswell) I can't see it being called off because both teams have a few riders missing. It's a regular occurence with the National League, unfortunately.
-
Based on what I saw on Facebook, it was only last week's match that was due to start at an earlier time. In the end, it started even later than normal due to track conditions. Even if everything had gone smoothly, it is still leaving it very tight. It's a good 2 hours between the 2 tracks, and you need to take into account additional time of loading, un-loading the vans, clearing up, warming up bikes, aswell as possible traffic, etc. Maybe last week's match was due to be a "test" to see if it was a feasible option before an official announcement was made? Nothing official was announced here, so I'd suspect Dudley jumped the gun and are trying to shift the blame.
-
I've never heard or seen it announced as starting as any time other than 4.30. In the latest press release by Mildenhall: "Meanwhile the club have also confirmed that next Sunday's top of the table clash with Dudley at West Row (19th August) will start at the usual time of 4.30pm, despite reports on the internet that the meeting was being brought forward to 3pm."

King's Lynn V Mildenhall (nl) - Saturday 11th August 2012

Top-class post, Neil3065. It's always worthy of keeping the peace when 2 teams are "sharing" a rider. Going back 10 months, you had the Play-Off final between Mildenhall & Scunthorpe on a date when Richie Worrall (and someone else too, but can't remember who) was due to ride at Newcastle. Newcastle and Scunthorpe had a pretty good relationship and the Newcastle promotion allowed Richie to ride in the PO Final, even though the rules (rightly or wrongly) specify that PL matches take precedence, even if the PL match is effectively a dead rubber meeting, which I seem to remember it was on this occasion. And we all remember how that meeting went. At this stage of the season, with "only" 2 <Mildenhall> riders riding in the Premier League, and sufficient points already on the board, any unavailability issues won't make or break their season. However, when you get into the Play-Offs, it might do. -

Shame we'll miss out on some Cockle & Blackbird clashes this time! Kudos to Dale Allitt for giving Lewis Rose another shot. Many other teams would go for the safe option of R/R. -
Mildenhall V Stoke - National League - 5/8/12
MrMungo replied to PhilK's topic in National League Speedway
Not the case, Vog. Guest only for your number 1 - whether he is injured, tired, unavailable, on holiday or retired! Anything seems to go! Stuffed if it happens to any other of the side. R/R for 2nd to 5th in averages. If there's more injuries, or reserve is unavailable, then it's an unattached 3 pointer, (not even number 8s are allowed to guest (anymore) ). It happened to King's Lynn last year. Had to ride at Stoke with a couple of unattached 3 pointers as they had 2 riders out injured. Edit: What is it with people quoting someone multiple times? Is this a new fad that I have missed out on? -
Mildenhall V Stoke - National League - 5/8/12

If doubling-up is good enough for the EL, I don't see why it can't be used in the PL aswell. Congrats to Stoke on their well deserved win. Track conditions seemed to either suit them, or not phase them out as much as it did for some of the home team. Lambert, Birks, Reade all did what was expected. It was Tony Atkin who surprised me the most though, and put in a match winning performance. Not fast, not pretty, but man, he could gate! All of that experience is invaluable when track conditions are from ideal. Damon hit the nail on the head. With the Playoffs, you just need to make sure you're in the top 4. 3 out of the top 4 are obvious, already. From then on, you all start equal, and need to be able to beat anyone over 2 legs if you want to be champions. Whether you finish 20 points in the lead, or sneak into 4th place, there's no real difference. Still a disappointing meeting from the Mildenhall perspective, and I guess a lot will have been learnt from yesterday's meeting. Ie, how not to p*ss off Michael Lee, amongst other things! -

It does, Aljack, weather permitting. -
I heard it was a villa each.

Let's be honest here. Since when has Frampton ever looked happy? He must be the most miserable looking Speedway rider I've ever seen. At least last season he had a cool beard. This year he doesn't even have that.

Fun and games at Fjelsted tonight from what I've heard. Tough night for Holsted with Rasmus Jensen getting thrown out of the meeting and Klindt scoring a paltry 4 points. Good win for Fjelsted although certainly not the way in which they'd like to win the meeting. The ref certainly seemed to have made a name for himself. Probably not made a great deal many friends in South Jylland though!

Felt for Kikkenborg there. It was like he was against 3 opponents.
-
Change of underwear for Mr. Pedersen, please.
-
Nasty one for Lahti. Jepsen Jensen should've been excluded.

Buxton V Mildenhall - National League - 29/7/2012
MrMungo replied to PhilK's topic in National League Speedway
You're ridiculous, BW Double. Just plain ridiculous. Why on earth would someone who's only just come back from a big smash lay the bike when there's someone right behind him and could've very easily ploughed him causing very serious injuries. Heeps did very well to avoid him. It was not cheating in any shape or form. It was 100% commitment in a last heat decider by both riders on a very wet and very tricky track, which resulted in the fall. Nothing more, nothing less. -

With only Heeps due out in the re-run of heat 15, a win appeared unlikely! Heat 15 never really should've been staged in the first place. Draw a fair result in the end all things considered.
