How Have Riders Found The New Format

You're the making assumption that a rider's EOS 2014 average will be the same as his SOS 2015 average, which may or may not be the case. -
Rolling At The Starts - Growing Problem?
MrMungo replied to SPEEDY69's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I think you need to break it down between intentional and unintentional movement. If a rider is starting in a deep rut, trying to find the biting point at the start, and just goes a smidgen too far creating a slight movement at the start, that's not intentional. It's down to a slight misjudgement. However there are riders, several of them, who chose to go beyond that biting point, and hold the bike back by placing their left leg infront of the foot peg resulting in the bike looking still, but effectively isn't. Is that good starting technique or trying to gain an unfair advantage? I don't see the rolling at the start as being a major issue in the sport. It's a problem, but the sport has far bigger issues at the moment! I do like R & R's suggestion though, but the only problem with that is when it's windy conditions, we may end up with all riders getting excluded! -
Because his average is under 5. Charles Wright also was able to double-up last season when he was signed mid-season by an PL team. Wilson's average is over 6, so not comparable on this occasion.

Clearly Poole aren't used to riding a bumpy track... -
Rye House V Panthers 19/07/2014 @ 7pm

"Of the Peterborough match, which was called off early on Saturday (July 19) at 11am but saw beautiful, sunny weather later that evening, Silver commented: “I make no bones about the fact that the weather was only half the reason for cancelling. But I really didn’t want to run any more matches with our existing side until I’d got Mellgren and Greenwood in." There are numerous of possible reasons/explanations for the lack of away points - I'm personally not convinced it can be put down to 1 single thing, but the fixture list was very poor. It really hasn't done the club any favours at all. As for Richie, he's had a tough season. I believe he changed engine tuners over the winter (to help get him going in Poland?), blew a new engine at the start of the season, and just hasn't looked that quick all season really. He's had his moments, like the rest of the side has, but like the others the consistency just hasn't been there. Consistently inconsistent all season. That's all you can say about that side. They've all had good meetings, all had bad ones, but there's always seemed to be an off-night for 1 or 2 riders at any given away meeting. Oh, and Phil, I think you can change your signature now!

Peterborough Panthers 2014

Could riders still be owed money hence BSPA's decision? They wouldn't be the only team behind on riders payments. -
Kyle Hughes?!

I'm pretty sure SCB is right. Kugelmann definitely replaced PK initially, but he was signed on the basis of his SWC form, which he never replicated, and was replaced later in the season by perhaps Pedersen, who was immense. Although I seem to remember NKI being signed for a few matches in 2001 aswell possibly after Bajerski. It was like a new rider each week. Quite bizarre. Then the following year I saw the most remarkable sight of Waggy electing to put Ulamek on a GDTS (15m).

Belle Vue V Poole Monday 7th July
MrMungo replied to lionheart's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Gate 4 is very much an advantage early on, but it tends to fade away a bit by the middle of the meeting. Gate 3 on the other hand is usually useless throughout but seems to be a lot better today. Generally it's 4-1-2-3 in terms of gate preference. -
King's Lynn V Coventry (nl) - 4th July 2014
MrMungo replied to Mimmo's topic in National League Speedway
Up until the last few heats there was hardly anything in it. In fact if RTD hadn't woken up in heat 9, KL could have taken the lead! The score looked a bit deceiving with KL losing it in the last 3 heats. Some decent races towards the end of the meeting. Track was unfortunately inconsistent at the start of the meeting resulting in a few iffy moments and strung out races. Once the track got sorted out it was probably one of the better meetings in terms of racing that I've seen at Lynn at NL level. -

Agreed. Only seen him a couple times round the Eggbowl (copyright Bagpuss) but he's always looked nifty round there. (Double figures or close to it) Didn't seem to gate, and wasn't attacking the track either which usually indicates the rider is either dissatisfied with machinery or track, or both! One thought that did occur to me during the meeting. Was it just me or did Tatum refer to Michelsen as a "good looking rider" a little too often? -

Can only imagine what Shovlar is making of this! I think if we see another decision go against Poole, Middlo's head might actually explode -
Meeting off.

Edinburgh Vs Rye House (20th Of June)
MrMungo replied to CaptainAudi's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
At NL level, yes. He lives close to the track. -
The cut-off point was about a 6pt average. Garrity/Newman had 5 pt + averages, Birks finished top of the Scunthorpe averages with a 7pt + average. Don't think the Draft was designer for PL number ones. Seemed to be more related to averages, than experience to me no matter what the spin was. The line had to be drawn somewhere. They chose to draw it between Howarth & Kerr.
-
The only real problem with that Draft List is that there was not sufficient numbers to really have enough strength in depth for all teams. There were probably 15 strong contenders, a few who have been around for a while, and the rest not quite up to that standard and required another 12 months. Even so, I think it has been largely a success, and with a few tweaks, it'll be even better next season and beyond. Assuming it's here to stay.

Blobby, Blobby, Blobby! Belle Vue are such a frustrating side. Cook and Worrall have been pretty mediocre away from home for most of the season. They get it right, and both performed well tonight, and then Zagar/Nicholls (who have been excellent mostly) have indifferent nights! No wonder Mr Atwood has no hair left! Sounded like an engine for Zagar, hopefully not too expensive. Shame really as he had been flying in his first 2 rides. When that went, so did Belle Vue's hopes effectively. Track wasn't at its best, but was no worse than what it was like back in April. Once you got on that fast line though, you were hard to stop... Little disappointed in Bjerre/Porsing...both cost me money! Bloody Danes! Bjerre looked a little lost at times actually. No lack of effort but a little uncomfortable, nonetheless. Didn't see anything much wrong with Cook's finish line move. It reminded me of Robert Pfetzing's move on Erik Gundersen back in 1989. Hard sure, but you can't expect riders to wave an opponent through half a dozen feet from the finish line. Pleasure to catch up with the Bagster and Halifax 'Legs' Tiger again

He's definitely not riding. Sargeant went off to hospital too so would imagine he's doubtful too.
