  1. I know Chris Louis has his critics, but he's not that bad, surely?!
  2. On the flipside, Belle Vue with its long straights and tight bends, has produced some of the best Speedway I've seen this year. It's not always about the shape, but more about finding the appropriate track preparation for that track. That's just my opinion, though.
  3. Too many seasons at Wolverhampton by the looks of it. Seems to be trying to ride Sheffield like it's Wolverhampton! Momentum is key, and he doesn't seem to be displaying a great deal of it tonight.
  4. Poole will probably be out in heat 11 and 12 aswell, so 3 on a trot may be asking a little too much.
  5. Have to admit I thought the same. It wasn't so much due to lack of racing, but other elements of the meeting made me think a change will be good. Not sure who has FIM status now but Peterborough during the summer is the obvious choice. Rye House could also make for an interesting event!
  6. I'm sure they'll get in some guests too! Otherwise they'll be 2 busy boys.
  7. Pearson is obviously more concerned about getting Covatti a British team place!
  8. Not sure that we were at the same meetings tonight. There were numerous hold-ups during the first meeting due to spills (Dan Greenwood was down for a while), several re-runs, riders taking 2 on a trot due to R/R and mostly track grading and lots of it. And it was needed. The 2nd meeting was run reasonably swiftly. 90 mins for almost a whole meeting is pretty good going. There was also going to be a lengthy gap between the 2 meetings, it always happens. It's a necessity to allow riders to prepare for the 2nd meeting. It was just the first meeting that took a while to run, and that was due to a poor track surface again. On the plus side, Extance looks impressive for Buxton - he'll be at Dudley next year then! And the young lad Atkin still has it!
  9. I quite like Dave Robinson. His 'tache is quite splendid.
  10. There was little hope of a heat advantage with Iversen in the heat. He wasn't gating, and wasn't that quick either. At least Bjerre had previously beaten Ward, as had Schlein.
  11. You make it sound like the end of the world if King's Lynn lost! If KL were that bothered about the result, I'm sure they would've put Kerr in heat 14. KL are already through to the play-offs, they all had their moments, no-one is injured, think they'll go home mostly satisfied. With a bit of luck, they could've won, but if it means they save up their good luck for the finals, I don't think they'll mind a great deal.
  12. Rose had had 2 reserves rides, plus 1 against the big boys (as a replacement for Bjerre - the irony!). In the other one, he had been replaced by Kerr. Bearing in mind King's Lynn are already through to the Play-Offs, Lyon presumably felt it was more beneficial for Rose to have a fairer 4th ride and put in 4 more laps as opposed to giving Kerr another ride. Kerr had also ran a poor last in heat 12, and it's possible he may have had mechanical issues in that heat, which couldn't be resolved in time.
  13. Good call by the ref in heat 15. My gut instinct was that Iversen had to go there. A lot of ref's would have chickened out of a decision there and brought all 4 back, but Big Dave is not one of those refs! Seen him make a few decisions like that now. The Pawlicki decision was less impressive!
  14. Last time I was there, there was a rider getting changed there aswell! Appears the changing rooms, which is a ridiculous long way away, is too far to walk for some too.
  15. And the families, the mechanics, the girlfriends/wives, and presumably Mr Louis aswell, and so on! There are too many changes in the sport. Unless a side is really, really struggling, I really don't see a great need for changes. You win as a team, you lose as a team. If it's not working for someone, you identify the reasons and work with them to cure the issues whatever they are. That's surely what being part of a team is all about? Not just cast someone aside after 1 or 2 iffy results.
  16. I thought Louis jnr was the "Director of Speedway" or something similar?
  17. I hope King's Lynn pick Eastbourne, so Trees can go and see her buddy Bob again!
  18. You need to compare like for like. They're 2 different teams. It's not Wolves and Wolves B Team for example. If you call Cradley a Wolves B team, they tend to not like that much! Cradley have a strong(lots of other adjectives could be used too!) following, and many will go to Speedway at WV2 on a Tuesday, but not on a Monday.
  19. Eastbourne got rained off - they've ridden Wolves twice instead.
  20. To be fair to Attwood, Payne off gate 4 should have beaten Greaves. It then left Nielsen's extra ride in heat 14 off gate 1 which is also pretty favourable. Probably would've worked too if his bike hadn't slowed. Hindsight is a wonderful thing though, isn't it? Not convinced it would have made that much difference, anyway. Swindon were just the superior side on the day, and BV were left carrying too many passengers.
  21. I heard a rumour that he had hired Bob Dugard for the day to prepare the track for him.
  22. Zagar reminds me a bit of Michael Lee. Can be absolutely brilliant and breathtaking at his best, but other times can be a little bit weird, "funny" and can forget to engage his brain at times! When he first came over to the country there was a nasty issue at Wolverhampton with Buzz Burrows (I think!) and I tend to look at him as bit of a Jekkyl & Hyde character. Don't think he would've meant anything by his behaviour in heat 15, but probably just wasn't thinking. What happened between Richie Worrall and Nick Morris anyway?
  23. Congrats to Swindon! Did Rosco tell the BV riders before the meeting that this was actually an away meeting for them?
  24. Priest should definitely be one of the stronger reserves. Gives the side a boost there, but it's a big step up for Flyin' Ryan
