Berwick Vs Edinburgh 12/8 Live On Sky
MrMungo replied to bigeddiechek's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Yikes, hope both riders are okay. Seems heat 14 is bad luck as far as SKY & PL Speedway is concerned. -
Mills @ 5! Crikey. That's the sort of patheticness I would expect from the Dudley lot, not you Screamer! If you have frustrations, and I guess you do(!), they should be directed at the management team, and not to the Poole riders.

I didn't even realise there was any Speedway on TV tonight at all! So I'm grateful for this thread! I watch Speedway on Sky Go, so I will possibly watch a bit of the Swedish Speedway, but will probably switch it over at 7.30pm. Seen some Swedish stuff in the past but find it harder to get into.

Whilst you're correct about the lack of professionalism within the sport Baggy, I'd respectfully suggest that King's Lynn have gained far more from having both their Fast Track Reserves picks "locked" (it was only supposed to be 1 per team, originally) than whatever Poole may gain from the hairdresser, which is likely only going to be the odd point here and there, if that.

What have I missed? What has Matt Ford done in the last week?

Wolves V Pirates 4/8 (pk Is Back)
MrMungo replied to T.N.T.'s topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Both lifted a bit. One lifted one way, one the other. It happens. It's just unfortunate when chains breaks under those circumstances. -
Harsh! The B365 matches from BV are generally very good, I find. Some places don't have the best camera angle (Poole), but BV's is pretty good. In the past, I've preferred to watch BV on Bet 365 than I have to watch the meeting on SKY.

World Cup Final 2nd August 2014

King was on the pace, so it was at least a competitive 0! C'mon, I'm going to be positive here! -
World Cup Final 2nd August 2014
MrMungo replied to mickthemuppet's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Blackbird is getting close to 30 anyway! Think he's the same age as Danny King. The natural progression would be to hold some test matches abroad - Germany, Italy, Croatia, Czech Republic etc etc anywhere a bit different to give the riders some badly needed experience of foreign tracks. Some will struggle, sure, but it's a bit like the Fast Track Scheme, or anything else for that matter, until you try, you never know. Biggest problem will be to get BSPA to help with the financing! Did I really imagine it tonight, or was Woffinden complaining about not being race-fit little over a week of complaining of too many meetings? He's a bloody hard man to please! -

The joker was about 2 hours ago! If anything, the joker turned this seemingly non-contest (at the time) into the absolute cracker that it turned out to be! -

MrMungo replied to mickthemuppet's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I agree totally. I almost posted about him bringing his British engines over but thought better of it in the end! King and Stead just lack confidence/experience for this sort of meeting. You saw that a few heats ago when King was off 4 (and made a good start) but even before he got to the first bend, he was looking to the inside to see what the others were doing and not concentrating on his own race. Woffinden, on the other hand, he should be doing what Nicki is doing tonight, or what Hancock was doing before, leading from the front, and giving the side a lift, but he's near the back battling for third places. -

He's managed to scrap into a couple of GP semis this year, hasn't he? That's not too shabby. He just seems to be one of those riders that can up a gear when the situation requires it. -

Lol! Not a fan then? That's Home Track Advantage for you. They certainly seemed to gain an early advantage, but don't seem anywhere near as invincible now -
World Cup Final 2nd August 2014
MrMungo replied to mickthemuppet's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Poland are just totally dialled in, and making the right choices on the 1st bend. Hopefully one of the other sides can up a gear (or several!) to make a match of it! -

Think the inclusion of Korneliussen will cost the Danes, really surprised they didn't go with MJJ. Expecting Australia and Danes to have a "ding-dong" battle for 2nd with Poland just a bit too good, and team GB lacking the depth to seriously challenge. Hopefully the ref will have a better one tonight, and that there are no major crashes to affect proceedings, especially with no reserves allowed. -
That was Gordy, not me! Not the most exciting rider in the world, but the fact that he is such a crisp gater, and largely stays out of trouble is probably the reason why he's still riding at the age of 55.

I actually liked the fact that Jim Lawrence had the cojones to change the race result after the race had finished. I don't think it should be necessary that a rider should fall off for there to be an exclusion. Oh, sorry, disqualification! Sometimes survival instinct kicks in, and you just don't want to crash. At the sort of speeds they go round Bydgoszcz, you can hardly blame them! However, it is necessary to make the right decision, especially when you have replays, which sadly is where he ballsed up. Mr K simply ran too wide on bend 4, an 18 year old kid on a joker, he of course wanted to get the 2nd place back straight away and misjudged the situation. It was probably the volatile way he started climbing the fence that affected Lawrence's decision. Who knows? Certainly not his finest hour. It was a shame for the meeting, as it was looking rather tasty until then, but don't think it had a huge impact on the result, as you just felt that Sweden lacked heat winners. Still, a fine meeting. Bydgoszcz delivers again. As does the Race-Off. Looking forward to Saturday!

Hemsley: King's Lynn A Race Track No More
MrMungo replied to Leicester Lion's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
When was the racing at its most exciting? I've got numerous videos from 80s and 90s, and I really can't see that it was a lot better than it is now. For about 80% of meetings (then & now), you seem to have a couple of great races, half a dozen interesting ones (close races, good chases, etc) and the vast majority of the rest are somewhat processional. I think sometimes the memory plays tricks on you, and you remember things for being better than they actually were. What is different now is the atmosphere, or lack thereof at most tracks.- 90 replies
