  1. I agree totally. I almost posted about him bringing his British engines over but thought better of it in the end! King and Stead just lack confidence/experience for this sort of meeting. You saw that a few heats ago when King was off 4 (and made a good start) but even before he got to the first bend, he was looking to the inside to see what the others were doing and not concentrating on his own race. Woffinden, on the other hand, he should be doing what Nicki is doing tonight, or what Hancock was doing before, leading from the front, and giving the side a lift, but he's near the back battling for third places.
  2. He's managed to scrap into a couple of GP semis this year, hasn't he? That's not too shabby. He just seems to be one of those riders that can up a gear when the situation requires it.
  3. Lol! Not a fan then? That's Home Track Advantage for you. They certainly seemed to gain an early advantage, but don't seem anywhere near as invincible now
  4. Poland are just totally dialled in, and making the right choices on the 1st bend. Hopefully one of the other sides can up a gear (or several!) to make a match of it!
  5. Think the inclusion of Korneliussen will cost the Danes, really surprised they didn't go with MJJ. Expecting Australia and Danes to have a "ding-dong" battle for 2nd with Poland just a bit too good, and team GB lacking the depth to seriously challenge. Hopefully the ref will have a better one tonight, and that there are no major crashes to affect proceedings, especially with no reserves allowed.
  6. That was Gordy, not me! Not the most exciting rider in the world, but the fact that he is such a crisp gater, and largely stays out of trouble is probably the reason why he's still riding at the age of 55.
  7. I actually liked the fact that Jim Lawrence had the cojones to change the race result after the race had finished. I don't think it should be necessary that a rider should fall off for there to be an exclusion. Oh, sorry, disqualification! Sometimes survival instinct kicks in, and you just don't want to crash. At the sort of speeds they go round Bydgoszcz, you can hardly blame them! However, it is necessary to make the right decision, especially when you have replays, which sadly is where he ballsed up. Mr K simply ran too wide on bend 4, an 18 year old kid on a joker, he of course wanted to get the 2nd place back straight away and misjudged the situation. It was probably the volatile way he started climbing the fence that affected Lawrence's decision. Who knows? Certainly not his finest hour. It was a shame for the meeting, as it was looking rather tasty until then, but don't think it had a huge impact on the result, as you just felt that Sweden lacked heat winners. Still, a fine meeting. Bydgoszcz delivers again. As does the Race-Off. Looking forward to Saturday!
  8. I know Chris Louis has his critics, but he's not that bad, surely?!
  9. On the flipside, Belle Vue with its long straights and tight bends, has produced some of the best Speedway I've seen this year. It's not always about the shape, but more about finding the appropriate track preparation for that track. That's just my opinion, though.
  10. Too many seasons at Wolverhampton by the looks of it. Seems to be trying to ride Sheffield like it's Wolverhampton! Momentum is key, and he doesn't seem to be displaying a great deal of it tonight.
  11. Poole will probably be out in heat 11 and 12 aswell, so 3 on a trot may be asking a little too much.
  12. Have to admit I thought the same. It wasn't so much due to lack of racing, but other elements of the meeting made me think a change will be good. Not sure who has FIM status now but Peterborough during the summer is the obvious choice. Rye House could also make for an interesting event!
  13. Pearson is obviously more concerned about getting Covatti a British team place!
  14. Not sure that we were at the same meetings tonight. There were numerous hold-ups during the first meeting due to spills (Dan Greenwood was down for a while), several re-runs, riders taking 2 on a trot due to R/R and mostly track grading and lots of it. And it was needed. The 2nd meeting was run reasonably swiftly. 90 mins for almost a whole meeting is pretty good going. There was also going to be a lengthy gap between the 2 meetings, it always happens. It's a necessity to allow riders to prepare for the 2nd meeting. It was just the first meeting that took a while to run, and that was due to a poor track surface again. On the plus side, Extance looks impressive for Buxton - he'll be at Dudley next year then! And the young lad Atkin still has it!
  15. And the families, the mechanics, the girlfriends/wives, and presumably Mr Louis aswell, and so on! There are too many changes in the sport. Unless a side is really, really struggling, I really don't see a great need for changes. You win as a team, you lose as a team. If it's not working for someone, you identify the reasons and work with them to cure the issues whatever they are. That's surely what being part of a team is all about? Not just cast someone aside after 1 or 2 iffy results.
  16. I thought Louis jnr was the "Director of Speedway" or something similar?
  17. You need to compare like for like. They're 2 different teams. It's not Wolves and Wolves B Team for example. If you call Cradley a Wolves B team, they tend to not like that much! Cradley have a strong(lots of other adjectives could be used too!) following, and many will go to Speedway at WV2 on a Tuesday, but not on a Monday.
  18. Priest should definitely be one of the stronger reserves. Gives the side a boost there, but it's a big step up for Flyin' Ryan
  19. I think you need to break it down between intentional and unintentional movement. If a rider is starting in a deep rut, trying to find the biting point at the start, and just goes a smidgen too far creating a slight movement at the start, that's not intentional. It's down to a slight misjudgement. However there are riders, several of them, who chose to go beyond that biting point, and hold the bike back by placing their left leg infront of the foot peg resulting in the bike looking still, but effectively isn't. Is that good starting technique or trying to gain an unfair advantage? I don't see the rolling at the start as being a major issue in the sport. It's a problem, but the sport has far bigger issues at the moment! I do like R & R's suggestion though, but the only problem with that is when it's windy conditions, we may end up with all riders getting excluded!
  20. Because his average is under 5. Charles Wright also was able to double-up last season when he was signed mid-season by an PL team. Wilson's average is over 6, so not comparable on this occasion.
