  1. I assume the NL regulations have changed, or has he given up the chance of a PL spot?
  2. +1 Especially with the NL slashing their points limit. It leaves some of the top NL boys/potential PL reserves somewhat vulnerable.
  3. I know the Michael Lee thing has been going on for a while, but even so, that's a pretty rough day for Mildenhall supporters. Losing 2 Promoters and a Number 1!
  4. Tend to think the fast track is largely solid, however becoming an asset of an EL club gives the EL club additional "power" when it comes to the draft, but it does the individual rider no favours at all when it comes to PL racing. It's almost as if the draft is a black mark against the rider if they are involved in it.
  5. Halsey has made some large strides over the last couple of years. Changed tuners to Phil Crump (I think) a few seasons ago which really made a difference, and then he won the NLRC this season on a track he struggled to complete 4 laps on not so long ago. I think he's one of those slow and steady improvers, ala Starke. He's never going to become a world champion, but can be a dependable/solid PL rider if given the chance. It's not always what you do when you're a teenager that matters. If you saw Hans Andersen as a 12 or 13 year old, the question was not if he would become world champion, but how many times. Sadly it's not happened for him for whatever reason. Other riders like Bridger, Risager and Fisher have barely improved since their first seasons in the EL.
  6. Admiring the legs in a mirror is probably closer to the truth
  7. I love this. "I usually stand with decent people. Plus HalifaxTiger ;)" Last time I went to Redcar, I had this guy come up to me. For some reason he thought I was Najjer and seemed to want to start a fight with me! Not been to Redcar since.
  8. Remember him riding Darcy Ward's bike at King's Lynn a few years back. Didn't go too well and ended up in the fence with Nick Morris I think it was at high speed. Both were lucky to escape injury. Will be interesting to see how he fares.
  9. Unless Coventry purchase his contract, I can't see how the EL matches would take precedence. So I guess the "not knowing" is down to not knowing whether Horton is planning on purchasing his contract or not?
  10. Think he meant 2013. Getting his years confused. A sure sign of getting old
  11. Not a huge shock, but should ensure the Scottish derbies are even spicier next season! Does anyone know who actually did his engines this year?
  12. Didn't King's Lynn and Boston share once upon a time? They may have been in different divisions though...CL and CT.
  13. Saw him once @ U19 Final at Coventry. Fell off in practice. Beat Ryan Terry Daley in first heat, then withdrew from meeting. Would be a good addition to the NL. PL? Less likely.
  14. That's only relevant if the rider mentions it in the Draft form. There was an opportunity to disclose any nights where the rider would be unavailable due to PL offers. One can only assume he wasn't expecting to get picked, the offer came in after he'd confirmed his interest, or he wasn't expecting the only team he couldn't ride for (Leicester) to pick him. If history has shown us anything, you should never overestimate/underestimate the Leicester promotion.
  15. I will be very surprised if that is the 1-7 Scunthorpe finish the season with. Good to see Davies back in the country. Entertaining rider - good for PL Speedway, and very good news for any kebab shops in the Scunthorpe area.
  16. That aspect of his post was referring to Freemantle I think who has been involved in a lot of huge crashes in his short career. I think he cleared the fence at 2 different tracks within a week at one stage. As for Bob, he's a solid signing, and it's good to see him back in the sport. Has a wealth of experience, which will be useful for some of the younger members of the side.
  17. Busk has more about him than some of the danes that come over. He may struggle on some away tracks, but can't see him being far off his starting average by the end of the season as long as he can avoid misfortune and injuries. Rest of the side is solid enough. I don't see major improvements average wise, but they should all more or less hold their own. Looks like mid-table, perhaps pushing for a play-off spot if they turn Hoddesdon into a fortress again.
  18. EL and PL, or just EL? Crazy for EL. 34 between 5 riders is only just under 7 as it is.
  19. When I read that bit of the statement, I must admit I did chuckle out loud. "SCB will have a field day with that one" was my initial reaction! My translation of it was: We screwed up, but we don't know how to fix it, so we're just going to stick a couple points onto the averages and see what happens!
  20. I think Pearson's statement says it all really.
