  1. Chain snapped coming out of bend 4, lap 2, Newman right on his tail and whilst he did his best he couldn't quite avoid whacking him on the head with his backwheel. Masters a lucky boy, and everyone was relieved to see him get up. Palm Toft was indeed poor, surprised he got a 4th ride to be honest, but whether he or Chessell got that ride wouldn't make much difference. Don't think Mr Happy will be calling on Palm Toft's services again anytime soon though. On the plus side for your lot, Bewley was competitive and often in the mix, and Riss was never far off either. He looked much better than what I saw of him in Italy last year, whilst Wolbert was exceptional.
  2. Masters luckiest rider in Speedway tonight. That could have been so so so much worse. His helmet certainly did its job. Probably will have a bit of a headache tomorrow I imagine!
  3. It's a Friday and Swindon will be needing 4 guests, or 3 plus R/R!
  4. Heeps, Tungate and Nielsen from last year's side all seem to be enjoying much improved seasons elsewhere too. You have to wonder what the reason is. Or is it a coincidence?
  5. There was a piece in the Speedway Star about a testing of a new 6-man race format. Wonder if it is something similar to this format?
  6. On the plus side, it was good to see Mike Bennett at Speedway again! I didn't think the track was that bad, to be honest. It was far from brilliant, but if you got out of the start and could attack the track & dictact your own lines, it seemed to be fine. The racing was far from brilliant, but that was probably more to do with the Glasgow riders flying from the start more often than not. In fact, there were a few times yesterday when it made me think of Exeter. I don't know if that was because Glasgow were so sharp or whether a few of the Plymouth side had the complete wrong set-up, who knows! At least it was a sunny day with no crashes! (IIRC...)
  7. Enjoyable meeting, but you always felt that Wolves lacked a little firepower; could perhaps carry 1 or 2 iffy performances, but Wolves had too many tonight. I do think Lakeside gets bit of an unfair bad reputation, it's not a bad little track, and generally does have a few different racing lines, which is what you need. Clearly when you have someone like Jonsson missing the gate on a regular basis, it helps with the entertainment. It was just a shame SKY missed the Kennett/Bridger drama, if anything did happen there!
  8. You obviously didn't go to Plymouth last week; Barker did not take Fisher out. Fisher crashed because he reared up coming out of bend 2 and slammed into the fence.
  9. I have no idea, not privy to that sort of information, but at least the tractor was working this week!
  10. Track was like quicksand in places. If you hit it at the wrong time/place, you could go flying in the wrong direction, just ask Tungate! Hopefully he and Lambert aren't feeling too sore today.
  11. The response given was "it's the luck of the draw"
  12. It's going to be a fun weekend for Newman & Nielsen; Edinburgh -> Plymouth -> Glasgow. SCUNTHORPE – Friday May 13: Chris Harris (Coventry), Josh Auty (Leicester/Scunthorpe), Carl Wilkinson (King’s Lynn/Scunthorpe), Simon Stead (Sheffield), Kyle Howarth (Wolverhampton/Sheffield), Josh Bates (Coventry/Sheffield), Jason Garrity (Coventry/Sheffield), Leigh Lanham (Rye House), Robert Lambert (King’s Lynn/Newcastle), Simon Lambert (Peterborough), Lewis Kerr (Lakeside/Ipswich), Robert Mear (Lakeside), Richard Hall (Sheffield), Stuart Robson (Rye House), Edward Kennett (Lakeside/Rye House), Ashley Morris (Scunthorpe/Cradley). GLASGOW – Sunday May 15: Scott Nicholls (Belle Vue), Ben Barker (Coventry/Glasgow), Richard Lawson (Lakeside/Glasgow), Richie Worrall (Belle Vue/Glasgow), Steve Worrall (Belle Vue/Newcastle), James Sarjeant (Coventry/Ipswich), Charles Wright (Swindon/Somerset), Kyle Newman (Poole/Plymouth), Paul Starke (Leicester/Somerset), Craig Cook (Belle Vue), Adam Roynon (Workington), Max Clegg (Wolverhampton/Edinburgh/Cradley), Lewis Rose (King’s Lynn/Newcastle), Danny King (Coventry/Ipswich), Lewis Bridger (Lakeside), Stefan Nielsen (Swindon/Plymouth).
  13. And Suffolk too! 63 miles for me but other commitments mean I haven't been so far this year
  14. Newman was very, very sore last night and in a great deal of discomfort. Speaking to KN1 last night, it appears Kyle has something of a rather delicate injury, and I wouldn't have thought riding a bike with all of those vibrations would be a good idea at all, and probably bloody painful too! Kyle has pulled out of the Plymouth match on Friday, so don't think there's anything dodgy going on there, well, not as far as Kyle's withdrawal is concerned!
  15. No offence to Dale Allitt, who I am sure will do a fine job on Thursday, but wouldn't it be wonderful if P'boro got Phil Hilton to be their stand-in Team Manager on Thursday?
  16. Not sure anyone can with a great deal of certainity; some riders just perform better in one league than another for all sorts of varying reasons. Poole do also have a history of getting the best out of a rider points wise.
